Yep.  If we are making judgements after 2 games, Tua is a top 3 QB in the NFL.

Doesn’t matter who’s the QB if the Oline can’t block, the WR’s can’t get open, the coaches can’t coach and the GM can’t identify talent.

  • So we had to listen to an entire week of "He runs too much".   What will the talking points be this week?  Jalen and this Team can win in multiple ways.  Stop trying to put him in some box where he on

I'm not really crowning him per se, but he was good week 1 and the only problem we saw was locking in on AJ and didn't get anyone else involved. It was a drastic improvement week 2 and he was patient and spead the wealth to everyone else.

Our schedule looks soft for the most part going forward. Continuing on with the cream puff Wash defense he has the opportunity to keep getting better as long as he stays humbled and locked in on what he does.

Not saying Tua is top 3 but he does have 2 of the fastest and stud playmaking WRs to make him look good. Probably the best WR duo in the NFL. He too was hated on and doubted like Hurts was. I'm not crowning either one yet but I'm just gonna sit back and watch it play out.

It is amazing when you put talent at the WR position, how well a QB can play.  To bad we have not done that enough for several former QB's.

Don't bother explaining why you think this is true.

I won't

Going into week 3 and Jalen Hurts is tied for 1st in Rushing Tds in the league, and 10th for overall rushing yards in the entire NFL.

You have to worry about the impact that rushing might have on his ability to remain healthy this year, because can Minshew take the team to a Super Bowl and win I doubt it.

I think we can put the "noodle arm" idiocy to rest.

edit: the source of the tweet is a fraud and the velocity number is made up and not even possible.

Quez Walker will never be Matt Collins

I think that might be one of those "equivalent to baseball stats." Like he threw it at 56 mph which when scaled is equivalent to a 90 mph fastball. He did not throw a football at 90 mph. He threw a football at the equivalent of a slow fastball. Still pretty good.

This is completely false...

Very encouraging game and he showed that he has potential in the pocket. His velocity seems improved as well. When he's on like that he's must see TV. Only thing I worry about is if he can sustain that for a long season.

You're taking some random tweet as fact from some who can't even get the player's name correct

A.J. Brown is 6th in receiving yards, tied for 5th in receptions in the NFL

The Eagles haven't had this caliber of talent at WR since T.O. and he might even be better than T.O. when his career is finally over.

How the next game stacks up, on Defense:

The Washington Commanders are ranked 20th against the Pass and 28th against the Run in the NFL.

The Philadelphia Eagles are 12th against the Pass and 20th against the Run (thanks to Detroit).

and on Offense:

The Washington Commanders are ranked 2nd in passing yards, and 24th in rushing.

The Philadelphia Eagles are ranked 7th in passing yards, and 2nd in rushing (thanks to Jalen Hurts)!

----------------

The game plan on offense for the Eagles should be simple if the Eagles are 2nd in rushing in the NFL (ended 1st in the NFL last season with same players),

and the Commanders are one of teams that are the worst at stopping the run.

The majority of plays should be runs, with a few play action passes deep to help out the run game.

The game plan on defense should be to defend the pass, the problem is Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson are fast and very good Wide Receivers.

I would suggest cover 2 zone coverages with the occasional blitz to throw Carson Wentz off late in the game.

----------------------

Eagles win in a close game 31 to 28.

Yeah. That number didn't seem correct (or possible) and I attempted to calculate the speed myself, and it's around 45MPH. It was Jalen's longest pass in air yards to date at 56.4. He had a couple around 54-55 yards last season that fell incomplete. While I do agree with the sentiment of the tweet, the BS number the guy made up --- I have egg on my face for posting it.

Look, what we know about Hurts is that he has a good attitude - he works hard and is a leader who players want to work with. He convinced AJ to come to Philly and raise the level of play of all of our WRs and he worked offseason on his throwing so he’s got a better motion, is more accurate and better with deep balls. He’s only 24 and if he keeps working and learns how to read defenses better, audible, and go through his progressions, he could be very good. He just needs to not get hurt along the way.

Listen, I have become a Hurts fan. At the same time I can recognize that he has still a ways to go in some key areas. Critiquing is what we do, its how we show we care. But last night he answered some big questions, and if he can be consistent I am very excited for the future. The velocity on some of those passes was unlike what I remember from last year, his footwork was much cleaner, and he actually went through progressions! It's disappointing that this feed has spiraled down into a conversation about how "cocky" Hurts is.

The dude has always been one of the most humble 'team-first' guys on any team he has been a part of. Focus on the game, he did some good things last night and showed some areas to work on. We won last night, now to focus on that team down in DC.

Good critique

Agreed.  The Vikings may have a good Defense, but the scheme they deployed last night was very Hurts friendly.

True

It's not like Detroit was successful in blitzing Hurts. The Eagles scored often.  It's just that Hurts looked better as a passer without the pressure so it was a prettier game to the eye

Most QBs get better over time and with more starts. Hurts is playing at an MVP level this season in starts 20 and 21 as he grows into his job.

Every fool who insulted Howie for taking him in the 2nd round was a moron. They did not just disagree, they insulted. He might never be great but he was totally worth that pick already.

Highest completion % in a single start through 21 starts. (completion% is probably the #1 growing into the role stat for a young NFL QB)

  • Hurts 83.9
  • Burrow 83.3
  • Mahomes 82.1
  • Herbert 81.8
  • Brees 79.0
  • Marino 75.0
  • Brady 72.2
  • Josh Allen 71.9
  • Manning 70.8

Which one of those guys can't throw the ball?

The desired result of arm strength is ypa. You can have a howitzer but if the ypa results suck, who cares? Hurts is #1 in ypa so far this year.

If this 53rd pick was in a 2020 re-draft he goes in the top 6 now. Howie wins again.

Highest rated passer in the league on PFF's grading system so far 👀 It's not like the Vikings are inept either they have some good vets on that defense that gave it good to the Packers week 1.

For context, the NFL combine has a velocity measurement some QBs participate in. He threw 54mph, which is above average. Same number as Dak Prescott; Justin Herbert was 55mph

So no, he’s not throwing 90mph. Mahomes hit 60, and that’s considered bigtime
