Time to put Howie back in the basement? - Discuss Howie Roseman here

Come on, Howie is good at screwing people over in trades. Look what he did to the Dolphins last year.

Yeah and now he's got 3 first round picks in a weak QB class, so lets see if he uses all 3 to fill holes on the roster or get's his pants pulled down to trade up a couple of spots to pick this years Zac Wilson.

Lurie needs to clean house. Make Jeff Stoutland the Head Coach. He knows more about football than any other coach on the team. Hire a O and D coordinator who has years of experience calling plays. An O coordinator who knows how to run the ball and a D coordinator who knows how to blitz.

Since we know Lurie won't fire Howie, the best we can hope for is back to the original post and the point:  put him in the basement.

Make him a Joe Banner type role again where he can continue to fleece teams in trades, negotiate contracts to balance out how to pay everyone, sign the free agents that the Personnel Director and coaches want, etc.  Stay out of the draft and personnel evaluation.  Only extend the players that the VP of Personnel wants to keep, so as not to hold onto aging players too long (partly because you can't draft).

They had the right idea with bringing in Joe Douglas - someone from an organization that drafts well, isn't in their usual network so someone with fresh outsider ideas and someone to be over the personnel completely.  They just need to keep trying that and let that person make the final call on draft picks.

Funny how much Doug was hated here this time last year, and now we miss him.

I don't know if Sirianni is the answer (still too early to tell, just like it is too early to tell on Hurts ... both need more time to get a more complete evaluation), but I do know Doug was no longer the answer here either.

Not sure what he is worse at … talent evaluation or cap management.

Definitely talent evaluation.

And he's gawd-awful at cap management.

Online coaches aren’t really HC material. I don’t think Stoutland wants that job and at this point removing Sirianni fixes nothing because  Shane Steichen will be the play caller. More inexperience at the position.

Only way Eagles could have gotten rid of Howie was if Chip Kelly was actually good at his job with Eagles.

He was? He dumped all the players he actually won with for trash, because his ego was bigger than winning. Not for nothing, but Rich Kotite won more games in the regular season and the playoffs than that dope Chip Kelly and he’s considered one of the worst coaches in franchise history.

Maybe read his post again.

You’re right. I missed. It. I see Chip Kelly and good put in the same sentence I see red.

I feel like even that would be temporary as long as Howie is still in the building. As long as he’s there he will be in the owners ear poisoning his mind with his side of the story. For as open minded as the Eagles FO wants to portray itself as it feels bubbling behind the scenes is a very toxic workplace filled with people who always think they know more than their underlings. It’s hard to be collaborative when there are those on top who never really listen to the people whom they employ.

He should have been fired last year with Doug. Start completely over.

Maybe we see that at the end of this year or the end of next year, especially if he misses on the 2022 Draft.

At all costs, we cannot let him make selections in next years draft.

Lat time they went for fresh ideas they hired 400 offensive coordinators.

Does this mean you're officially off the Howie bandwagon?  You were one of the biggest Howie fan boys when I started this thread on the old forum 🤣

How could the Eagles even get a Fletcher Cox trade done with his cap hit?

Probably can't but that doesn't stop rumors

Howie’s 2018 draft stood out today. Mialata is a starter, although he’s been struggling since he’s come back from injury. Maddox had a solid game and has been pretty good all season. Goedert had a solid post Ertz performance. Josh Sweat had one of his best games as an Eagle. One second rounder, 2 fourth rounders, and a seventh might be Howie’s best draft class.

In what world is Douglas drafting well?

He‘s like Roseman without the benefits.
