Update after Seumalo, Howie just killing that 2022 cap already.  Just wait until you see how bad it is once the rest of the restructures are done.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Thought so, thanks. I was going to post something he said but it's probably just BS.

I'd like to apologise unreservedly to all Jaylen Waddle's family and friends that are apparently on this board, his late climb up the WR draft boards based on greasy fast speed despite average college production in far and away the strongest college football programme looks nothing like Henry Ruggs being talked up ahead of clearly superior receivers last year.

The one thing that would give me pause on waddle is his size or lack of size, he's a circus midget which projects him as a slot receiver.

Now if ones offense is a heavy slot WR offense like the pats run then he'll be a good fit, if one drafts him expecting him to line up at X or Z consistently and beat nfl outside corners with safety help over the top, one I think will be disappointed.

Juedy was supposed to be the best route runner in the draft last year and he had his own struggles, Ruggs was the fastest and as said he struggled as well.

KJ Hamler who was ultra explosive quick and fast in college struggled to adapt to the nfl.

He like waddle is a circus midget as well.

I'm not saying waddle is going to have the same struggles as hamler or juedy I'm just saying I think the brakes need to be pumped on the waddle hype train.

Most NFL WR rookies struggle the first year. There's a lot going on that they have to adapt to. Jefferson and Metcalf are really outliers, but some people on this board think if you don't come close to their production the first year, they suck and are a bust.

The cap decrease not as bad as some thought , ends up being around 7 %

This is not absolving Howie, but 2022 is "fine" as long as Hurts or a rookie QB starts.

Now, if Howie signs any big FAs this off-season using a small 2021 cap number and a large 2022 cap number I'll be getting a pitch-fork.

Yup totally agree. Wonder if others will give reagor that same benefit of doubt.

2022 is not fine.  There is only 39 players under contract and he has taken 73 million in cap space down to 43 million, and there will be further damage before the Eagles are cap compliant.

That when he was on the team, Lurie was making decisions based off of what was being said on WIP.

The cap is going to increase and teams around the league are doing the same thing. That 43M can easily grow with cuts too.

Of course, this requires Howie to not sign free agents. Of that I am skeptical.

I'm not saying he will be an absolute stud, but I think we definitely need to give him the benefit of the doubt with the absolute trash that he was surrounded with last season.  The decimated OL, the QB play, a head coach that showed he was incapable of coaching an offense, AND he was a rookie.  To say he is a bust at this point is ridiculous.

I think saying "fine" is being too generous. It was only a year ago when the record for most dead cap by one player was $19M for Brandin Cooks. Fast forward just one year and Kelce will be over $15M and it's not even like he's being cut. It wont be 2021 bad, but it will still be pretty meh overall.

Correct, but he choices relative to the cap were bad, really bad and horrible.  Lurie and his lackey are trying to avoid horrible and just go with bad moves.

Absolutely incredible to be in the position.  All of their own doing.  No one left to blame.

Nothing is fundamentally changing until the owner is ready to step aside.

- Extend Barnett: 7M
- Extend Graham: 7M
- Cut Goodwin: 4M
- Restructure Lane: 4M
- Restructure Hargrave: 5M
Total: 27M

They still need money to sign rookies.

No one likes pushing cap hits into next year but how exactly do you think they could have otherwise gotten under the cap for this year?  I understand knocking how for poor use of the cap the last few years - I don't think anyone could legitimately debate there were serious missteps - but what is the point of crying about the hits in the future?  There was literally no other option at this point.

I am not crying about anything.  Just putting the facts out there for the Howie cult, and those who thought this would all be OK in 2022.

We need money to sign our ST only LB on day 2 of FA also

I think the only reasonable belief was this was really going to take both 2021 and 2022 to really clean up.  But it's also a little silly in my opinion to be looking at the $40+ in cap space next offseason and already think the restraints will be anything like we're going through right now.  Given the reports of Brooks being availability and that we haven't seen any reports of a restructure for him (which would have been natural), it looks like he's on his way out which opens up tons more cap space next year also.  It's perfectly fine to be upset that our past mistakes are now costing us money.  At the same time, saving $4 million this year that we desperately need while adding on that money later in years where we'll have more space and the cap will be higher is not the end of the world.  I just don't think we can really draw any conclusions past that.

Yup, reagor had a lot of things going again st him as did the whole team.

Wentz erratic play coupled with all the OL In juries and Doug's inability to design an offense or call an effective game or implement players into that offense not to mention his Injuries all played a part in his struggles.

I'm expecting the 3 Wrs from last year to take a leap forward.

Hightower showed some good things being able to get deep at Z against nfl corners, he just looked like a deer in the headlughts when the ball got there or when he actually caught it. Reminiscent of Pinkstons rookie year where he just looked stuck in the lights.

Watkins I thought actually showed the most improvement, not sure why it took so long for him to get on the field, giving Greg ward so many snaps and especially jeffrey were mistakes that just hindered the development of the younger guys.

Hopefully Siriani and his OC realize that ward is no more than a 4th WR and If he leads the WRs in catches again we're in for another long year.

Fulgham meanwhile I don't know what to think, were those first few games a fluke or were the last few games where pederson/Howie basically benched him a fluke? Maybe it's somewhere in the middle.

Those first few games though he looked legit.

Will be interested to see how he reacts this year and competes and if he impresses the new staff or he ends up being a 4 game wonder never to be heard of again.

Reagor I think will be fine, I think pederson and Co put him in a lot of positions last year to fail and didn't really use his to the best of his ability.

Pederson has a pretty poor track record when it comes to WR going back to KC and Siriani has a pretty good one so maybe that was a factor in the hire?

Especially if Howie is going to draft another WR in the first.

One of the truest statements out there.  Like clockwork.

What the heck, 52 minutes must be a record without a post in the blog during the day.

John Brown would be a good piece to add. Have always been a fan of his game.
