I’m hoping Hurts shocks us all. He has been putting in work this off-season

Honestly, he's lower on my list of concerns.  He's not an elite QB but if he can be a game manager, maybe  Dak light we should be OK.

Defense is another story. The back 7 is atrocious.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I don't think we can say we have two good safeties.  McLeod coming off of a major injury in his 30s.  We signed that safety from the Vikings but he is coming off of a really bad year. We have no corners outside of Slay who is in his 30s and in decline. No linebackers.  Our entire defense is built around an aging defensive line. We have one of the least talented defenses in the league in one of the most offensively talented divisions in the league.

And you know your defense is screwed when you name a 4th round reach as a reason for why you think the defense will be decent.

He will shock some here for sure.  Others saw the promise of his rookie year and know with his work ethic he has the chance to shine in year two.

It would be nice to use those three first rounders next year to focus on key impact player, and not draft a QB again.

I think this will go down as one of the least talented drafts in decades.

The talent thinned out before #20, and I think a lot of 2nd rd picks would have been 3rd rd picks in a normal year, and by the third day, few potential starters were left.

This is disguised by comparing players within the draft, but not across drafts.

I think any team that gets 2 solid starters out of this draft is doing well, and 3 will be well ahead of the pack.

It's the 2022 draft that will make or break some teams - and I'd like to see Ertz dealt for a 2022 pick.

I think it was a pretty overrated (at this time) draft and agree somewhat with what you said. But I really only feel that players are a little less prepared on average to enter the NFL than usual. We'll probably see the talent come out of this draft, but up to a year later than you would normally expect. Opting out of 2020 didn't help any player grow and shortened seasons offered less growth potential. They also gave scouts less film to work with which means some day 3 picks might become better pros than some day 2 picks.

Football will always be football and great players will rise when provided opportunities.

Even if Hurts proves himself I highly doubt the Eagles use those 3 first round picks. Howie can't help himself with trades.  If it's not for a QB one or two of those picks will be used for a veteran player of another position.

Looking at kadarius toney, we made a mistake. Should have stayed the course and traded down with the bears. I was listening to a Pittsburgh Steelers fan and their discipline is much better than ours drafting. If you study Pittsburgh very rarely do the trade in the first round.

Well they also didnt trade a QB that landed them a 1st and 3rd then and give up that 3rd that they had two of right? They also didnt trade back from pick 6 to 12 to gain a 1st in 2022 and move up from a 5th to a 4th right? So using the Steelers as an example is not a good reference in this case.

Oh BTW the Steelers traded a first rounder last year for a Safety so in that case your friend is wrong.

I don’t know if it was brought up already but DGunn said top player on the board was Surtain, Smith being #2. I think this falls in line with Denver taking so long to make the pick and probably wanted our second to do the deal. It would be interesting to see how the rest of draft fell if Surtain was the pick.

Might have fallen the same exact way.

By "in their 30's" you mean currently 30 years old. That's awful! Ronnie Lott, Brian Dawkins, Troy Vincent, Eric Allen, Rod Woodson, Charles Woodson, Darrell Green, etc... say, "hi."

Now, I have no idea how our defense will look (perform) under our new system, with new coaches, but I'm pretty sure that 4th round picks have started games before. I'd have to watch some tape, but maybe 1 of them even made some plays.

I doubt a draft this deep at WR they don’t get Hurts one in the 2nd or 3rd

The problem was that many players took advantage of the opportunity to stay in school another season, some players had COVID, some had schools with truncated seasons and so on. So the supply of players was substantially reduced below normal. And as you point out, some players had their development halted for a year, or weren't able to work out in the summer or missed spring football.

You named all of those hall of famers (exception Troy & Allen) and Slay is none of them.

Fact is our defense is completely dependent on guys in their 30s who are going to be more prone to injury and slower to heal due to their age.

Game manager is the nice way of saying you’re not winning a Super Bowl with this QB... The 2000 Ravens may not even make the playoffs in today’s NFL.

Good thing Hurts doesn't play like a game manager. He had the deepest depth per attempt of any QB last season.

You're assuming that the Cowboys wouldn't have taken the Bears deal (which they were offered) if we didn't make them one.

They liked ours better because they could stay in the top 12 and take Parsons.

So, this was shared by the eagles official face book page. It provides clarity then on the position projections for Milton Williams- DT, JaCoby Stevens- LB, and Patrick Johnson- LB.

Seemed the only one what was clear was Stevens converting to LB. Saw conflicting stuff on Williams possibly playing a lot of DE, and wasnt sure at all on Johnson which also seems like the weirdest one making him an LB.

That LB room is an absolute joke.

I still think players that are destined to be great will eventually be great and that this draft class will eventually have a normal impact on the NFL when we can look back on them.  Their impact may not show up as much in 2021, though.

Told my brother this morning Rosey's "bad cop"  response was ringing in my ears........I think he stays whether he wants to or not.  Didn't see them drafting any TE with all those other needs for that very reason.

This is probably the first draft in quite awhile that didn't make me vomit.  Smith's frame is a worry-but as I told Alkire the talent is certainly there.  With the newer rules and staff, maybe they can move him around and keep him from getting cut in half.  Hurts needs to avoid medicine balls in his direction.

Dickerson is legit.  Injuries are a major concern.  I'd be willing to let him have a rehab year if necessary to get him up to speed to start in '22-when it might actually matter.

Loved the Williams pick.  I don't see him as a DE, but I have no clue what Gannon wants to do this season.  Maybe he surprises me.

Didn't know anything about McPherson-but that doesn't mean he can't play.  Will give him a chance to grow on me.  Other scouts liked him at least.

Gainwell has a chance to be really special in this offense.  My favorite back in the draft.

The Eagles had major depth concerns on the D-Line, and addressed them.  There is a good chance 1 or more make the squad.

Stevens projects favorably as 1 of the 5 DB's I'd expect to see in base.

All of these picks collectively seem like a set-up for next year-when the talent pool will increase.  Get some stuff out of the way now, prepare to suck & position yourself to move forward by '23.

Its all labels. They will be mixed around based on package and situation. Does it really matter what the title is next to there name?

Cool let’s hope he can complete more than 50% of his passes

DE room is probably worse. Graham (up there in age) Barnett (1 year deal) Sweat (talent but snap limited) and then Ostman and Leo and nothing else
