One good practice that might come out of this whole thing could be people masking up if they feel sick or have the flu. Obviously the best bet if you are sick is staying in, but if you absolutely have to go out and you have the flu you definitely should mask up. The Japanese already do it. It's never been done here, so people naturally feel self-conscious about it, but now that we've removed the mask stigma, it's definitely a good practice to adopt.

Whats your next post? you bought stock in Moderna ?

the pollen is crazy this year. it was cold last night & i thought there was some frost on the ground around our driveway. when i got closer, i realized it was pollen build up. i don't remember seeing piles of it on the ground like that in past years.

Down here the pollen has been out of control for weeks. My car is covered in yellow dust. I wash it off, and it's covered again the next day.

I don’t know about that. there are allergy studies being done to show that slow, gradual exposure to things you’ve been allergic to can actually teach you body to not be allergic. Mostly these are around foods.  I would think that if your body can learn to not be allergic to things later in life that our immune systems can also learn to protect us later in life as well.  We are constantly being exposed to new germs and viruses so if that wasnt the case, we’d all be dead by now.

I'm lactose intolerant and 30 years later and I still destroy toilets after consuming pizza. One of these days my body will just deal with it ! 😜

Triggered.

Anyway, I was looking into an article in the Dominican Today about the Dominican Republic's mass vaccination drive. Noticed the only two comments at the bottom:

lmao, it's really amazing how little citizens from all over the world trust their governments. It's honestly very heartening to see.

Lactose intolerance is some cases isn't so much an allergy as it is a lack of an enzyme needed to break down and digest lactose. Some people never have it, in others their body's ability to produce the enzyme (lactase) falters with age. My dad used to really enjoy ice cream, but now he can't have much of it.

I know I was just being a smart ass lol. On a side note my tolerance has gotten better, I can handle more then I used too. Knowing which foods gives me the most problems also kind of helps with that. Like straight milk forget it but, ice cream and plain cheese pizza I can eat a good bit of it before I have issues

I think it can work both ways. Overexposure to certain foods in youth has also been associated with allergies later in life, especially when linked with exposure to hormones in the foods produced by big agriculture.

I was recently reading, though, that some scientists think that increased prevalence of childhood food allergies might be at least partially due to overuse of antibiotics. Basically, your body has been insulated from so many pathogens that the immune system hasn't been conditioned to exposure. It basically inactive, so when it is exposed to a foreign substance, like lactose or tree nuts, it reacts violently to the introduction of a foreign substance.

Yep it can certainly work that way too.  My wife and I Laugh because our oldest is allergic to white potatoes.  Not deathly allergic, but has a reaction to them.  We picked up on it when she would eat chips or tater tots or fries she said she’d feel sick.  Got her tested and there it was.  The joke is that my wife was eating potatoes like everyday while she was pregnant with her.  It’s all she wanted to eat so she over exposed her 😂

Though, I will add an atta' boy to mikemack.  Good job getting the vaccine.  Just because Kz's an idiot doesn't mean anyone else should be.

My wife is allergic to dairy altogether. Her throat would close up if she guzzled a glass of milk.   Makes for an interesting time eating out.

I can imagine, lots of dairy free stuff available now a days. When I was younger there was hardly anything, I sheet my brains out daily lol.

Holy hell I'm so sleepy!!

Just 11% of people who remain unvaccinated say they definitely will get the shot, while 34% say they definitely won’t, according to a new poll by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research. Another 27% say they probably will and 27% say they probably won’t.

Fine.  They get them to the 3rd world countries that are way behind on supply.
