September 13, 20214 yr Exactly my point. One group of people will start attacking another group because of differing viewpoints, or whatever. It gets to the point where it becomes less about a health matter and much more about being right and somebody else being wrong.

My first year in college, I met a guy in my psych class that was a pilot in training. The first week of class he offered for me to tag along with his gf and her friend while he was logging hours and I jumped at the chance (semi-blind-date aspect was a motivating factor but girl turned out to be meh.) We flew out of a local airport and he even let me take over the controls for a couple minutes while we were up there so I could do a couple turns and dives while the girls were freaking out. Was a blast and I'm glad I did it, but looking back, the fact that the late teens me had no reservations whatsoever about going up in a single engine cessna with a guy I just met and never asked how long he'd been flying is funny to the late thirties me.

Yeah that's a tough one No, just a mediocre looking asian chick that was basically shrieking non-stop from takeoff until landing. I thought no way am I gonna ever be into a girl that's this much of a pussbag. Ironically, my wife is terrified of roller coasters. Go figure.

He had just been hired by Delta and was out celebrating. Got pretty drunk at one point, stood up on the bar and started "USA!" chants before the bartender put an end to it. Seemed like a good guy. Never saw him again after that.
September 13, 20214 yr In all seriousness - imagine having that many lives in your hands every single day. Crazy. I know the planes practically fly themselves but that one time something goes wrong - damn

Just found it neat.

Haha yeah I’m pretty sure he wasn’t allowed to have passengers while he was a student pilot. Also I’m 100% that no one else would be allowed to be in control of the aircraft. 37 minutes ago, mikemack8 said: In all seriousness - imagine having that many lives in your hands every single day. Even when it’s on autopilot the pilots have to program the autopilot to do what they want to do. Also, takeoffs and landings are the most dangerous parts of flying, which is when the plane is not at all flying itself. Pilots usually are at the controls for a few thousand feet. 6 minutes ago, DEagle7 said: I read somewhere that Native Americans were one of the highest vaccinated groups in the country which is really interesting given how rural their population centers tend to be and how much distrust they could have with the outside medical community. https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/article/native-americans-highest-covid-vaccination-rate-us/ No political statement. You mean he did something risky and unsafe that he wasn't allowed to do that could've easily jeopardized his career aspirations? It's almost like his 19 year old self didn't fully weigh the potential consequences of his decisions.

September 13, 20214 yr Some days I just can't detach myself from the reality that this country is being dragged down into oblivion by the dumbest 1/3rd of the population enough to laugh at how stupid they are are. Today is not one of those days.
