I suspected this would be the case.  I believe the FDA wants more data and the narrative of needing multiple boosters is determine people from getting vaccinated to begin with.

I think it's just delaying the inevitable. Delta has shown that at some point, we need to get our kids vaccinated, and we'll need boosters to avoid mild to moderate disease. Seems to be more of a reactive rather than a proactive decision. Doesn't bode well for them giving an EUA for the 5-11 age group before November, which is super frustrating for me.

I think it’s inevitable too. I’d much prefer an approval on the 5-11 group before boosters though.

Same, but this decision today likely means they're gonna push for a longer follow-up period which puts us into December or possibly next year.

You think?  It’s 2 separate issues and priorities.  I would hope that it doesn’t slow down progress seeking the 5-11 approval.  Not like they’re halting studies or the review of that data.

I listened to the majority of the meeting, lots of discussion and hang-wringing on myocarditis, very little focus on how fast delta is spreading, no mention of long-covid, etc. They brought up severity of disease in younger age groups and how we can't extrapolate from data from adjacent age groups. The prevailing tone was basically, "Yeah we know there's data, from places like Israel, that shows boosters provide more benefit than harm, but they're just being overly cautious." 

The cultist who says kids don't need masks, Cody Meissner, was given the last word in the debate. Take from that what you will.

Someone just brought forward a new proposal to be voted on: Boosters for those over 65, and anyone at increased risk of exposure due to their occupation...

But FFS.  It drives me nuts.  Now she is stuck in her room without being able to work, go to class or see friends for 10 days.  I am not going to say ITYS, now.  But when she is able to get vaccinated again, I certainly hope I don't have to preach to her again.  

Sorry to hear that, I'm sure she will recover quickly though. Tell her limit any exercise for a week or so.
