He looks really awkward for a guy who is actually pretty athletic.

At the time some talking head was saying he could be another Maxey. Things clicked for Maxey pretty fast (he couldn't shoot in college). I just don't see the quick burst from Springer.

The 28th pick in that draft wasn’t very valuable. Bodner, Hoffman and even Pompey said they tried and tried to trade it but had no one who wanted to trade for it. Or give up anything that’d make it worth it. Bodner went into a full 10-15 min rant about him on their podcast a couple months back. they decided to take a kid who was extremely young (still 19. Actually younger than some of the rookies like Chet holmgren, Ivey and murray) and believed in 3 years he could become a valuable asset to them on the defensive end with possibility of his offensive game would develop. They liked the analytics on the kid in terms of long view upside. They rather take a high gamble at 28 then just take a player who had limited upside and likely still not good enough to crack the rotation. Imo i think they looked at him as a possible replacement on the defensive end for when thybulle’s contract was up if thybulle didn’t improve.

The nets from what I’ve been told don’t want ayton. They don’t think center is a position where you spend max money on. They’d be fine paying a center like embiid or jokic but not ayton even if he still has upside. They want bridges in any deal with Phoenix. I could see Phoenix doing an ayton for Turner and hield type of deal. Have hield as a scorer to make up for the scoring loss in bridges. But worse defensively. then use bridges, cam and turner with picks to get a deal done.

Not sure Indy would want to deal picks tbh. They are still likely not very good for another 1-2 years and want to keep those picks unless it’s got a ton of protections on them. The value that the Pacers have is if the Suns don’t like the package with the cap space they cleared then they could just offer Ayton an offer sheet and structure it so it’ll hurt the suns. which the suns would have to match otherwise they could lose him for nothing. and if they match it they can’t trade him for another six months. Pacers have a lot of leverage to make it a deal where they don’t give up picks and just do it for turner and hield for like a filler in Saric and ayton 

Baynes is going to hold a workout,  nor a year out from spinal surgery.  Wonder how he will look.
