You put Tucker on Tatum and hope for the best but who guards Brown?

Brown while as crazy as Kyrie, he has really developed into a shot creator and playmaker.

Sixers have actually played Tatum well this year outside of the first game of the year. He’s gotten stats but he’s been really inefficient over the last 3 contests against the sixers. I’d love to put mcdaniels and melton on brown but you’d have to have either maxey or tobias off the floor to do it if Tatum is also on the floor. I might let brown get his and make sure i contain Tatum and make sure guys like smart, white and brogdon don’t destroy me. White and brogdon have really killed the sixers this year. White has 16-4-3 and brogdon 14.5-4.5-3. So basically averaging 30.5ppg, 8.5 boards and 6 asts. If they are getting that then you are likely screwed cause Tatum, brown and smart likely gonna combine for like 70-75. So those 5 are at 100. That doesn’t include the other guys like the two Williams and horford.

Tatum has figured oht how to be more of a playmaker, averaging 6 a game vs Tucker. You put Harris or Maxey on Brown and they will hunt that matchup. Play defense and hard to trade buckets.

Doc has to have ultimate faith in Maxey and Harris to hit opposite corner 3s when Embiid passes out of doubles. I don't think Doc put Embiid in a position to be successful vs the Nets but also I don't think they really tried "hard" to run anything efficient or Embiid.

One of Tatum or brown is going to get theirs. I think you have to just make life hard on the other and make guys like white, smart, brogdon become inefficient. Meaning can’t give them open looks which has been an issue for the sixers against the Celtics. Also can’t have horford going bananas where he scores like 17-20 cause you aren’t winning that game if that’s happening.

I am curious to see what Embiid looks like coming off this knee issue. He needs to score in the 30s if the Sixers are going to have any chance to win the series. So doc is gonna have to make some adjustments and not just hope guys hit at a high level. That’s not an adjustment and you likely get burned just assuming they will against Boston  If he’s scoring in the low 20s, the sixers are likely in trouble because guys like Harris, maxey, melton are gonna have to step up and make up for the drop off. Against Boston that’s much tougher than the nets.

I’m also curious to see how doc gets Maxey going in this series. against Boston he has been not very good this year. He’s averaging 10-3-2 while shooting 35% and 21.4% from 3. He likely needs to be near 20 in this series

What night did Embiid sprain that knee. Was it the 20th? 21st? Either way if its a grade 1 sprain, typical 2 week time frame puts him back by game 2.

If its more significant, then... who knows but we will lose the series with our without him.

This.  Celtics in 5 or 6

Game 3 is where he was limping up and down the court. I’m assuming that was the game. Was Thursday night. So basically would be 9 days off for him til game 1. Game 2 would be 11 days since his last game.

that said game 2 likely becomes a must win cause i don’t see us beating Boston in game 1 without him. And find it unlikely you are sweeping Boston at home in that series.

They need to trade Embiid. They will never win with him and if they keep him it will only get worse. Get a haul and rebuild.

I agree, trade Embid, trade Harris (whom I actually like but it's a a huge expiring contract)....get all that you can and start over.  We tried with building around Embid and failed.  Also, get Doc out of here.

For Doc? Why? He's brilliant abs inspirational.

If Al is playing the 5, then they will just play 5 out and make Embiid guard near the perimeter. Maxey and Harden aren't really stopping Celtics guards in 1v1 situations.

You out Embiid at his spots, free throw line and/or left block. Stop the non sense of letting him catch the ball at 3p line so he can see the double coming. To start the series, you have to play to your strengths

They are for sure going to play 5 out to start and make embiid guard on the perimeter. Especially dealing with a knee injury that could limit his mobility and also takes him away from the basket where he can’t help on drives allowed by harden and maxey.

with embiid’s knee injury i wonder if he wants to play on the perimeter more on offense so he’s not getting banged up down low. In the past when he’s dealing with injury he tends to float more on the perimeter then getting on the block

to me if embiid can be embiid then the next biggest concern in this series for the sixers is getting maxey going against Boston. They can’t have maxey scoring 10 a game and being super inefficient in scoring 10 a game. Doc and the coaching staff has yet to figure out how to maximize maxey vs. Boston this year. Really Boston’s size and length plays into that for maxey.

Imo the sixers need embiid, maxey and harden to play great in 4 of the 7 games to win this series but yet still need one of Harris, tucker, melton to also step up in those games. Boston can have Tatum or brown play mediocre or bad in and yet still win a game in this series due to their depth being better and more consistent then the sixers

F'ing Atlanta.  Shoulda known better than to hope that they might be able to take a 2nd game from Boston.  They're definitely not gonna do that without that idiot Murray.

Is he going to be suspended?

That definitely hurts the Hawks' chances

McDaniels actually did a great job against Tatum the last time we played them

Looks like he tried to whisper something in his ear. IDK.

No way he doesn’t get suspended.

In fairness he said last time he played. Tatum got 19 points but also took 20 shots to get there (went 7-20) and 2-8 from 3. That’s an inefficient 19 points. If we make him shoot 20 times to get 19 points that’s good. However like your stats show the previous 9 games are not as encouraging outside of a game where he went 12-6-3.

I think you put tucker on him. in 13 career games tatum is averaging 17.6-7.6-4.2 vs. tucker. However he’s also shooting 39.9% and 24% from 3band 2.2 TOs

Tucker was +21 and +14 in those last 2 games.

He also hit some clutch threes. I don’t think they can win this series if he’s averaging 3 points. He’s gonna need to be closer to 6 or more. I’m guessing Celtics are gonna dare him too

This is probably the only way you make that work, and it's a wash......   Unless they can sign a good 3 and D wing or Stretch 4 with the Harden money if he doesn't come back.
