Ok.  Twitter isn't the end all and be all.  The guy defends Simmons every chance he gets and called him a "treasure" after embarrassing himself at the FT line again.   Which was a few weeks ago.  He has been preaching to us for a few months now about what we have in Simmons and how we should appreciate it.  I wasn't talking about today or last night.  I am talking about since he's been the HC.

If Simmons was a competent PG and the "star" Doc and others in the media portray him to be, they would have won that game.  If he could hit a few FT, they would have won that game.  It can't always be on Embiid.  He obviously wasn't right from the first tip.  But he fought.  Simmons get's pulled out in crunch time because he's a f-cking joke.

I've thought about this a lot.  Doc is not Brett Brown.  He is a somewhat intelligent coach.  He knows Ben is not going to change.  There is nothing anyone can do or say to Ben at this point.  He is mentally fragile and everyone, including the coach knows it.  So in order to get the most out of Ben (which is not that much but still better than nothing) he has to hype him up and pretend he has a lot of worth on the team.  If he starts criticizing him and giving his real opinion, it will shatter Ben even further.  This is where we are with him now.  Just look at his face when he was shooting free throws last night.  He looked like he was going to **** himself.  We have all stated that his missed free throws in the 4th quarter are going to cost us games, and possibly a series, next round.  He definitely needs to get traded this off-season.  This is not fair to Joel who finally worked his @ss off to get into shape and play like an MVP.  His injuries will only get worse in the next couple years.  This team has  a 2-3 year window for any championship hopes, after this season.

agreed. i view this season as a "let's see what an experienced coach can do with the embiid/simmons combo" experiment. they wanted 1 year to make sure it wasn't a brett brown issue. well, it isn't.

i'm hoping they move ben...lillard is a pipe dream...beal too.  i'm expecting it to be someone more like lavine. we'll see.

Then don't preach to the fans like we don't Fing know.  We've been here with Simmons longer than him and will be here after he leaves.  Doc is a self righteous turd.   Brett Brown was a push over.

It's clear this is Embiid's team and Simmons is just along for the ride.

Was hoping they got Kenny Atkinson as the coach.

He can make excuses for them though.

Exactly, which enables them and not get them to dig deeper. Should of just kept Brown if we are not going to give any blame to the coach for allowing the team to go into a game with a lack of focus, energy and displine.

Every coach struggles with motivating players though.  It’s not like Doc Rivers has cornered that market.

The Jazz got smoked by the Clippers last night a few days after people were saying that series was over.

Dude is playing with a torn meniscus and is still diving all over the place and going hard to the rim and getting hammered.

The refs didn't do him any favors either. Lots of missed calls

I've never seen a top NBA star get this treatment from the refs in the playoffs before. Young gets a call if he's breathed on.

that after the shot foul on Embiid where he grazed his face was a joke - it's the Fing playoffs.

Anthony Mason is rolling over in his grave.

First don’t know why anyone would think that clippers series was over. They were in the first two games of that series with a chance to win in the end. Considering game 1 they were coming off a 7 game series 2 days prior i thought it was impressive they went toe to toe with utah. I thought for sure they’d come out sluggish and wind up losing big. With Conley our and Pg/kawhi playing like the players they thought when they acquired them it really shouldn’t be that surprising. The clippers have always had the talent to win a title it was more mental and with that Mavericks series coming back from 0-2 and then 2-3 i think they believe they can comeback from anything.

second last nights game was identical to what’s been a problem for doc in the past. Just last season he had the issue with the clippers. In game 5 of the western semifinals the clippers went up 19 with 22 mins left in the game. They blew that game and then the series. He had that with the lob city team and even in Boston (2010 finals) they were up 3-2 in that finals and managed to lost then next two games averaging 73 points in those games. I say this game was closed to the clippers from last year cause those clippers teams when they got up big would just stop playing with urgency and killer instinct. That’s been an issue with Brett brown but really it’s also been an issue at times this year. Bulls and spurs with a ton of guys out the last week of the season that happened. This team lacks a killer instinct. It also has a coach who’s shown to have teams that done finish the job.

can you imagine Embiid and Harris with Dame or Beal out there?

That’s what we need.  Simmons needs to go

I only have two gripes with embiid last night. He was due for a bad game. It’s hard for any great player to consistently give 30+ every game especially dealing with a injury. My first gripe is when your jump shot isn’t there on a night like this then go to the post and just do work there when the hawks don’t have anyone that can defend you down there. It might have actually got him going if he went that route. Second on his layup brick. He had time to do a power dribble and Fing slam that ball. Collins was going to foul him on the attempt with how power embiid is and Collins timing so you get two free throws or an and 1. The refs call almost anything when embiid gets touched.

I don’t know how many people watched the playoffs in the bubble last year but that game last night and the game 5 with the clippers/nuggets were absolutely identical. That’s worrisome

I think it happens however it happens far less nowadays then in the past. I think fans have come way further in that area then others at stadiums. i think fights happen way more than fans cheering injuries nowadays. I’ve seen like 6 dodger fan fights since the start of the season and we aren’t even midway through.

Fair observation.  I hate to say it, but the fights are probably about the same but they're all captured on video nowadays.  Can you imagine if we'd had iPhones up in the 700 level back in the day?

Ever hear of "The Jordan Rules"?
LeBron goes to the line if someone on the opposing sideline sneezes.
Don't go near Steph Curry's zip code, either.
Over in the NFL, Tom Brady doesn't even need to wash his uniform, the officials keep him so clean.

It happens all the time and the officiating had nothing to do with the colossal loss last night.  It's because Simmons is timid and Embid is pretty much always hurt.

I am so effing tired of Ben Simmons. Just completely over him dragging the team down when they need him the most.

Have I said that before?

Of course. And they typically apply to the top players in a sport, particularly in the playoffs. No one denies that Embiid is a top 5 NBA player. Every other top 5 player as long as I've been watching basketball gets that treatment, but Embiid for whatever reason does not.

We are fortunate we didn’t. Then we’d have video on ESPN nonstop about being even more barbaric.

I’d argue he’s the most frustrating athlete i can ever remember in the city. He has all the talent in the world to be one of the best players in sixers history and the none of the drive to actually do it. I do believe he’ll have a light bulb moment where it finally dawns on him but it’ll be way down the road and by then he’s likely gone from here and wasted embiid’s prime years.

*when i say he doesn’t have the drive to do it i mean if you are taking what you do seriously that you wouldn’t be shooting 30% from the free-throw line. That is BS you’re not working hard enough or not working smart enough if you could drop somehow by 31% at the free-throw line. They’re high school kids on the aau circuit that can make better than that

Big guys, centers don't get those calls. They are over 7ft close to 300lbs. That's the life of a big guy. League doenst care about those guys anymore. Shaq used to get the sheet kicked out of him same as Dwight Howard in the day.

My issue is some blamed Brown for not getting the most out of Simmons and lack of discipline with the overall team.

Enter Doc and some said he will get the most out of Simmons. It's been the opposite he has gotten worse in some areas and all Doc does is kiss his ass. You could at least see Brown getting frustrated with Simmons and saying something.

As for the discipline you still see the same mental lapses and I think having a better bench has saved them from some of the same losses.

Doc also has the same coaching mistakes and kisses the star players on the team asses and let's them do what they want and that's what cost him in LA, along with his game management blunders

Brown had his flaws. I think the organization has allowed Simmons to do what he wanted when he was fresh into the league and it’s basically allowed him to do as he pleases. I feel like if you had a coach like thibs here then Ben would ask out. Some of this falls back on the organization overall for allowing to manifest over the years. Credit to embiid he had a kid and got himself into great shape  unfortunately his body just can’t stay healthy at the most inopportune time this year.

Doc really doesn’t get the most out of his teams besides that Boston run. I think the clippers years he wasted a lot of talented teams that could’ve achieved more. Like i said game 5 last year is nearly identical to the sixers game last night. I hate losing but i hate losing more when you see no sense of urgency, getting pushed around by an inferior team and lack of energy.
