Off topic...

The fact that there’s serious talks of sports returning is bittersweet to me.

Yeah I miss sports but all the talk is about owner and player sacrifice. Who gets what, who’s at risk, who needs to sacrifice a couple million here there, etc. Yes, someone will have to give but ultimately everyone will still be wealthy.

What’s not being talked about. Are the ticket sales associates, the corporate partnership leaders, the marketing managers, the people who work the concession stands, the ushers... THOSE PEOPLE are the one’s getting screwed out of all this. The people who work 70 hours a week in season for 40k a year. Or the people who work a second job in the stadium for extra income to send their kid to school. Those are the individuals that are screwed.

Nothing at all against people who are sick and have lost loved one’s to the disease but to me, this pandemic has shown me how little empathy and respect the average working class citizen gets.

Ravens announced a few days ago they will be paying all stadium workers whether there are fans or not. Hopefully more teams, and Eagles, announce something similar.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Where did you have him on your "board"....

His combine didn’t raise him on my evaluation. I had him in the late third or fourth round.  (For the Eagles) Not convinced he will run routes better than Robert Davis. Worried we would see Agholor and JJAW 2.0 level confusion for him in Doug’s offense.  WRs and DBs are hard to evaluate with the materials an average fan has because of a lack of all 22 views.  I see a lack of crisp cuts from him. I don’t see much in the way of jukes, feints and change of pace.  Relies on his size a bit much.  Doesn’t play to his Combine measurements.

I don't see Agholor's struggles as "confusion".  I saw it more he just lacked confidence when the lights came on.  JJAW just wasn't prepared....period.

Yeah agreed I think Agholor was too much in his own head. A bad mistake would spiral for him rather than coming back stronger. It's why in 2017 he was so good because he really limited the mistakes. In 2019 he was so bad because every mistake would spiral in to more.

Oh.  I'm interesting alright.  You must be new here.

I'm not talking about having my own "board"..  I just trust the opinions of multiple experts and past history over someone on a message board.  And I have always said MY OPINION.  Not my BOARD.

You don't find that kind of silly?

Vernacular of the day, so I don't pay much attention.  Like vertical passing game(used to be a bomb), stretch runs (used to be student body left/right).  The best board for my money is found in Dr. Strangelove.

I thought switching him to slot in 17 was the difference.  Took the pressure off of him.

He played mostly slot last year though?

To add to the Hurts conversation today.  Nothing groundbreaking here but does solidify my argument that #2 quarterbacks are better off when they have NFL experience.  Hurts is going to be 3rd string.  Your 2nd round backup quarterback isn't even the backup quarterback.  Of course this could all change but it adds more fuel to the fire as to why use a round 2 pick on a player who at best this year is in for "a few gadget plays".

Wow.  You have a "board"?  Where do you get one of those?

Frankly you sound like someone who thinks he's some sort of college scout.  The Eagles have a whole department dedicated to making these picks.  I am not a college scout and neither are you.  Regardless of what you think.  The fact is.  Most of the pundits think they whiffed on a good portion of the draft, especially that pick.  I have seen a lot of people stating they thought the 3rd round pick was a reach.  I don't need my own "Board" or fantasy persona to know they could have gotten more value elsewhere.   Plain and simple.

Every draft i do a who would i have taken where the eagles were picking vs. the actual pick in a notebook. Sometimes i agree with the pick and say same player and sometimes i list the player available I’d have taken. It’s a cool way to see the percent you actually hit on and miss on. Some variables like would he be the same player here in a different or similar system

i wasn’t thrilled with the hurts pick. I would’ve gone in another direction. I thought the board was too rich with other prospects that could make an immediate impact and be a long term starter for us then trying to get a backup QB and eventually spin him off for a first or second. Frankly i think it’s a stretch to just assume some team in 3 years knowing he’s going to be a FA at year’s end is just going to pay you a first for him. So maybe a second which you spent and if he plays (due to wentz injury). Maybe a first if plays well but then you have a bigger issue of replacing him with as good of a backup when you deal him or QB controversy in which to go with if he’s THAT good

I felt the same way about JJAW pick. I thought they overdrafted him like they overdrafted Jordan Matthews. however i think Matthews’s forty overrated and moved him higher. However with JJAW i had one of the uofa coaches tell me he’s not as good as his Stanford numbers would indicate (yards per catch) and be a really good collegiate player but nothing more than a marginal NFL WR who had red zone upside. It’s why i really wanted Juan thornhill at 57 (was really hoping hardman fell after we didn’t take him at 53). He gave you the long term replacement for mcleod and could instantly help as the 3rd starter. That said JJAW needs to get an nfl body and he needs to master route running better. I do think some of this is he lost confidence out there due to  confusion on what he was supposed to do.

Not at all.  In fact, I've been saying these things for weeks, don't see how they are going to make it work.  Been trying to find any evidence of a sensible plan which might allow them to return to actual games with or without fans and do it safely (other than just repeating the phrases, "social distancing" and "adhering to safety guidelines") that won't result in starting over again based on new infection - like Germany last week.

Just found it interesting Oliver did a show on it.  Thought the Gritty stuff was funny, too.

So here's the problem. The issue that you have, and the issue that John Oliver articulates, is based off of unreasonable expectations. For some reason, certain segments of our society have completely and totally shifted the goalposts in regards to what we're trying to accomplish. Initially, we collectively decided that we were going to shut down the economy and disrupt everyone's lives in order to "flatten the curve." We were told that mass infection rates were inevitable, but we need to not overwhelm the hospital system. Well, we did that. Now the phrase "flatten the curve" has disappeared. I can't remember the last time I heard that phrase. Now, the new goal of all of these restrictions is some non-defined sentiment of preventing the spread (while ignoring the previous claims that mass infection rates were inevitable). You, and John Oliver, are arguing that sports can't possibly come back because it'll lead to someone getting infected. To support the shifting of these goalposts, John Oliver presents two facts. 1) an anonymous WWE employee stated that they don't feel safe and 2) two German soccer players tested positive after restarting their league. Simply put, I think your premise is wrong. People are going to get infected. Period. Temporarily shutting down the world in order to flatten the curve is something I, and most other people, can get behind. However,  keeping the world shut down for some non-defined goal of preventing infections is simply unrealistic. And honestly, it's not only unrealistic, but utterly insane when you factor in the fact that we're talking about an infection that has such a low mortality rate.

There were probably 30 guys I would have wanted over Hurts.

Sure, but you and many others follow college a whole lot more than me. I guess my point to Big E is that I'm not going along with him and TEW that it was a great pick after all.

We’ll see about him.  Just not a fan.

Same can be said for Hurts.

Rookies starting to sign.

Based on what Doug said, the player additions, and the coaching additions, my expectation is that we will see more play action, more motion, more jet sweeps, more runs, and more QB under center. We'll still run our outside zone, split zone, power, traps. Still a lot of wham blocks. Lots of RPOs.

The plays will basically be the same but the pre-snap look will be different. All that motion breaks defensive keys and, when properly used, leads to advantageous match-ups. More play action makes the RPOs more effective, slows defensive reactions and gives OL better blocking angles. Having fast WRs to run jet sweep action puts pressure on the defense in a number of ways; last year it was Agholor or nothing - and teams were not afraid of him because he was almost always and east-west runner. If one of these guys can turn it upfield that will scare teams.

Combining play action with fast receivers puts tremendous pressure on the safeties. If they hesitate or bite the WR is by them. If they bail there will be more room to run and bigger holes in the intermediate zones. After DJax went down last year the safeties squeezed us 'cause we couldn't run by them.

Doug also said he's confident in Dillard as the LT in 2020 and of the future.

Plain and simple from watching Agholor in his best season 2017. The dude's just not right in the head. He was almost worse than mills finger wagging. Almost every time he made a play he over celebrated and jawed with everyone one around him.

He's lying, he just can't find a trade partner, the news is out,Dillard cries himself to sleep every night. <sarcasm>

I think they had their concerns about Dillard, but I also think they're moving forward with him.

One of my favorite things about a rookie wage scale. Very few rookie holdouts anymore.

I like it. If his knee is sound he has a chance to be a really good player.

Yep. Offset language is really the only holdup anymore, and mostly just for the first round guys

I don't see why he couldn't be 2016 Big V in 2020 and 2017 Big V in 2021.
