If Jay Ajayi can come in mid season and contribute, certainly these FA RBs mentioned can wait until mid-August for consideration. I want to get a look at what the Eagles have NOW at RB first.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

I don’t think he is that slow.  Holyfield is slow.

Holyfield is an interesting case. He was good enough to make the Panthers roster initially, and did really well in the preseason. He seems to fit what the Eagles need in a third back, a guy with some power who can catch out of the backfield. I am guessing he is pretty good in pass protection. With linebackers getting smaller, a guy like him could carve out a pretty good career as a third down back.

He is also a pretty good candidate for a guy who can be one of those who is put on the practice squad and then elevated to the roster on gameday as a backup running back. I don't see the huge need for the team to sign a running back for a few million when Holyfield clearly has fringe NFL talent and is basically free.

Where is Ajayi now?  All the talks about Shady and RB FA, Ajayi in fact would be that between tackles RB to the backfield and takes up the load if injury becomes an issue.

He's had like 11 knee surgeries.  No thanks.

How are you cooking the soft shells?

Dust with seasoned rice flower, sauté in butter. Set crabs aside, add more butter, chopped nonpareil capers, a splash of dry white wine, lemon juice, and reduce until silky. Pour over crabs and serve with a side salad and crusty bread.

Dredge them in flour, salt, and pepper then sauté them in butter.

Oh god no. He was washed last year. McCoy would be a light years better option and I don’t even like McCoy.

Other than the fact that I'm probably faster than he is now, that's a good idea.  But, since his knees are completely shot... he's not going to help.

Pardon the Eminem song with questionable lyrics but here are highlights from the first 4 games for Shady last year.  He definitely doesn't have the same juice, still carries the ball wildly but also still makes some OK plays.  Pretty sure Boston Scott can offer the same pop.

Always had great vision. Lost a step of course but still has great hands and route running.   You have to defend him coming out of the backfield or he will do damage , and he can block.

I would have no problem bring him back and letting him retire an eagle.

I think the Tiger, Phil, Brady, Manning golf match coming up will be REALLY entertaining.

Going to be fun!

Lobster season just started back home.

4.25 lb for canners

5.00 for markets.

I wish i could get home and spend a day on a boat.

Just moved up to costal New England. Gonna miss my blue crabs but otherwise the seafood up here has been out of control.

Hoping things are back to normal for fall scallop season. There was always lots of fish because we lived so close to the ocean.

Out west now and seafood is expansive.

The oyster supply chain didn't seem to fall off much from what I could tell so I hope the scallops won't be too much of an issue. Clam shacks/lobster roll shacks are starting to open back up. The first Stripers and Blues are trickling in. It's gonna be a good summer.

West coast seafood is definitely a different animal. Probably one of those "prefer what you grew up with" situations. Pacific Northwest salmon is tough to beat though.

For all the crap we give Howie about drafting, which he deserves, he hit it big with the Sanders pick. Legit stud RB.

A story from a year ago, but it talks about the analytics behind passing out of 12 personnel...

https://www.sharpfootballanalysis.com/analysis/12-personnel-nfl-pass-revolution/amp/

I’ve been preaching this for a while now. 2 TEs is the optimal mismatch personnel package for an offense because there simply aren’t more than two or three LBs in the NFL at any given time who can actually cover a decent receiving TE.

So the defense gets put in a really difficult position: sub a safety or corner in for a LB and give up 30-50 pounds if the offense runs or let a TE abuse your LB in the passing game. What the eagles have done by adding speed at WR is the next step: punish single high safety looks.

Most teams will go nickel and have one of their starting safeties and the nickel DB they bring in (could be a corner or safety) cover the 2 TEs. That way you have more players in the box to defend the run and you don’t have a LB matched up in coverage versus a TE. That leaves one safety deep. And in our case, we should have at least two WRs who are going to be able to beat their defender deep with regularity. So then teams will probably move to zone schemes, which means Ertz and Goedert eat them up underneath.

You can also take it a step further with Sanders. He’s going to have a LB on him in coverage. Good luck with that. And that’s not even getting into the size advantage you have in the run game with 12 personnel versus nickel personnel.
