I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

I don't have that answer - but factually speaking none were drowned or burned in Salem. They were hung. I had to look it up but it was a European thing to burn witches.

Oh snap!? I read they were tossed in to the water and if they sunk they were witches ( but most people didn't know how to swim back then so they sunk).

Well crap im scared of garage pulls now too.

To understand history, you have to take the perspective of those who lived it, which doesn't mean condoning their behavior, rather, attempt to understand it.

That unfortunately is not limited to history but to our interactions as a whole.  The issue is that it seems unacceptable to for a person on one side of the spectrum to truly try to understand other views.

Ehhh, Warner didn’t have a ten year tear. He had 3 great seasons.

I think Cox has a chance. He’s already a 5 time pro bowler and is generally recognized as one of the top 3 interior defensive lineman of his generation. He made the NFL all decade team, which is usually a great sign you’re going to get a gold jacket and he’s still only 29 years old. 2 or 3 more pro bowl level years and he’s a lock IMO.

I don't think Warner belongs in the HOF because outside of those 3 seasons he wasn't that great.  I think longevity should play a role in HOF.  I get that there are those generational talents  like Gale Sayers who deserve it but I even question Terrell Davis.  Is he HOF or was he just very good?

Cox has made Pro Bowls sure but what has he done in the NFL that makes him an all-time great?  Nothing.  The Pro Bowl doesn't mean anything anymore so the number of Pro Bowls is irrelevant if you ask me.   Fletcher Cox isn't in that top tier of DT if you ask me.  He's a step down from guys like Aaron Donald but a step up from guys like Mike Daniels. Not HOF.

This guys. Very this. The occasional foray into scotch or golf or smokers or Runtherock’s mom was a staple of the blog. Keeping politics out was too. Speaking as a guy who will come here and join almost whatever the discussion is, let’s keep it on track.

I attempted to start a football discussion about future HOF players on eagles roster, it got 1 reply.

Yet if i were to post that cops are jerks and kneeling for the flag is awesome or something of the like i get tons of replies and retorts.

If the blog wants to talk football then when those topics are presented then maybe they should engage in them

Just sayin👍

To be fair there arent guys like aaron donald, theres aaron donald and everyone else.

Having said that if aaron donald didnt exist fletcher cox very well could have won defensive player of the year in 2018 with 10 sacks and 34 qb hits which was 2nd in the league to donald with 41.

He was literally voted to the NFL all decade team. He’s absolutely in the top tier of his era.

I think if you took a little time to think about it, you’d see the folly of this tangent.

Yup. I think when it cones to DT in Cox era there are 3 different tiers.

Aaron donald tier 1 all by him self

Tier 2 fletcher cox all by himself

Tier 3 everyone else.

Though id put geno atkins at the top of tier 3.

I thought I read somewhere when this all first started that the team had stopped all season ticket payments for this season. This is just a guess, but I’m thinking there will either be refunds, or any money paid to date will be applied towards 2021 season ticket payments, and 2020 ticket sales will simply be a first come first served.

I'm not referring to the payments the season ticket holders have put out for THIS season. I'm talking about the multi-thousand dollar seat license fee they paid back in 2003 which insured them the right to purchase tickets to all Eagles games every year. I fully understand that they really wouldn't have a complaint if no one is allowed into the stadium this year. But I think they would have a serious complaint if THEIR tickets are invalidated while others are allowed in. Those are the key words -- "while others are allowed in".

I personally think that front row seats are horrible, so I would have never even wanted them. But I believe they were the highest priced licenses (maybe club seats were more), so some people obviously paid serious money for those. I don't see how the Eagles can tell them they can't come and then open the gate to the thousands of fans in the upper deck who never even had to pay for a license.

Do you not remember the rules of the old blog or just not care?

Really, Nancy, because that's nowhere near what your post said. I guess we should all read your mind or maybe you should type out what you mean.

This is what I heard as well. And if true that's freaking ridiculous

Calm down. It’s going to be ok. Just relax and read

Personally, I dont care. The old rules were so that we could remain civil, and it was assumed 2 things would never be able to be discussed civilly. Politics, and religion.

However, over the last few years, there have been a bunch of political discussions in here that have gone smoothly. Much better than they would go over in CVON. In football season, the focus of this thread will shift. But right now, its the only thing happening in the world. Its all there is to discuss. And matwill didnt run crap. And he has no control over me and shouldnt over anyone else. He loved to fell that way. I wouldnt give him the pleasure. I am very happy someone else is creating these threads now.

As of now it's more like Donald Tier 1, Cox Tier 1A, then everyone else.

That said, if Cox has a few more pro-bowls, maybe another SB ring, I see him in the HOF.

I think a guy like Jurrell Casey is in the mix with Geno Atkins too.

And your vision is naive in my view and from my experience.  Any one of the things you mentioned are fraught with corruption and have little to do with actually "helping" people.  They're mostly just excuses to cycle private citizen's money into politician's constituents pockets, and then of course the politician will get a cut of the looting either through campaign donations or through a gravy chain job after he's out of office.  And that sort of cynicism is among the most desirable holders of government power.  Lord help us all when the true believers get power...

But that is simply not accurate. What exactly is you experience, since you referenced it.

The majority of politicians I know want to serve, they aren’t doing it for a future job, and many reflect the majority view of their constituents.  The problem is it becomes their job and like most of us, they want to hold onto their jobs.  All organizations know which politicians are friendly to their arguments. Think the NRA is alone in grading?  Unfortunately, money for re-election matters.  I firmly think that getting money out of politics, canning PACs, making full disclosure a requirement of free speech, and term limits would help. I term limited myself.

Jobs are a focus of officials.  So helping local employers can be a focus but they have to protect the people that vote and most know that.

Government contracts have to be bid.  In PA, they go to the lowest bidder, unless the agency can show cause.  We did the latter once in my four years with a contractor that started and finished late, did a poor job that required rework before we released the bond and tried to do change order increases to get more money.  The shoddy work was cause.   We found out they did the same thing in other communities.  We had to, by law, and would have anyway, sold water and sewer at cost.

My local state representative wants to sit down with me and discuss property tax reform because of my experience here and in Texas.  He and my state senator, who I correspond with, both were school district board members so they have that perspective on the issue.

The only representative I find worthless is my Congressional representative. He does not make himself available to his constituents.  This is a first for our area

I am a Main Streeter and always have been.

Disneyland delayed their reopening. Football may not happen 😞

The system kicks us off so they show when we go to log in if we have the Blog open.  The political ads are to polarizing.  I mean, an add to Pray for Trump to an agnostic is offensive to me.

we are supposed to go to ocean city NJ in less than 2 weeks. NJ is imposing a 14 day self quarantine on travelers from other states. As of now, PA is not one of those but who knows what will happen a week and a half from now. Sweating this one out. This was our only shot at a vacation since our cruise in May was cancelled.

How about a lotto approach for seat license owners for each game. If any are left after that (in other words all seat license holders got tickets) then sell the remainder. Base the areas lottoed based on where your seat license is.
