You didn’t have to explain anything to me about how important year stwi starting is for uim

But it seems you don't get it with your casual comments.   There are plenty of players who play the last year of their contract.... how many of them are QBs?   Dak and Cousins.... killed cap for those teams.   It's not the other positions that might cost you 5 million in cap space... if you wait on QB it screws you big time.

The Eagles especially do this early for player they want to keep.

Throw in the pressure from the players union, Hurts demographic...etc.

It's not hard to see the reality is it.  But you mention year 4 and the tag etc... constantly.    Reality is simple... no more excuses, it's big boy time or he is out.    If he plays next year without a new deal, we know it's because he is on his way out. No way would the Eagles not lock him up.   With his high character that you always mention,  you would assume he wouldn't be unreasonable with his demands either.  So no reason for it not to get done... except if he can't show significant improvement in seeing the field and making the throws.  That's the only reason.

Is it though?

Yeah pretty good/decent teams. You'd think they would have decent punters

PFF ranks CB's Slay at 11 and Bradberry at 18. Very nice to have 2 in the top 20. Really should put our defense in a decent position. Add in White and Jordan(if he can play) and we are a formidable team to deal with

Not really,  you would their punters aren't used much.

# of punts about the same as us except for the Squeelers who punted a ton

I believe Tashaun Gipson is a FA. He would be a nice stop gap S addition IMO. He is 31. Landon Collins(28) would be a great long term add,but he's not cheap. Gipson is cheap enough to add

Think they’ve bought every Colorado team except the Broncos.

I was comparing Hurts with Tom Brady career. Brady didn’t play his rookie season as a late round pick. His second season he posted 2,843 passing yards. With 18 TDs and 12 interceptions. His next three years(third, fourth and fifth) he posted similar stats 3,700 passing yards with 28 TD and 14 interceptions. Most of those seasons completing 60 percent of his passes. So I’m wondering how accepting Brady’s career path numbers would be for Hurts? Got an extra game now. Brady is the GOAT so I think we could give Hurts one extra game to fulfill those same stats. If Hurts does similar to Brady’s career passing stats wise will that convince the FO and fans he is the Franchise guy? Just talking passing stats wise. Not adding in Hurts elite rushing. Not holding Brady SB count over Hurts as expectations. Those first seven years of Tom Brady’s career, the greatest of all time, would that be enough for our own Mr Intangible?

Brady won a SB early.  First year playing.  That got him the job...Hurts doesn't have that as of now...he needs this year to get the money.  It's just how it works.   Hurts not getting the $$ before next season is bad for both parties.

In a perfect world he has more time and there wouldn't be a huge difference in contracts and the effect on cap space.

Basically if Hurts doesn't get the new contract it's a sign he will be gone.  If they give him one more year and then he blows up... that new contract will crush their cap because they can't use 2023 as year one of the signing bonus.

Seen plenty of guys play here in their contract years. Sure it’s preferred by a player to cash in as early as possible. Especially guys that weren’t real high picks. But the FO probably is a bit gunshy after eating it with Wentz….that they were so sure was the guy. Laughed at Dallas while we paid Carson and they were trying to decide on Dak. I’d say obviously Hurts earned it in one way. He took the job of the guy they did pay all that. So in that light he easily should get the money.

Nobody thinks Brady has a cannon arm. Like Brees. Arguably the two best at the position. Both totally doubted whether they had enough to even be in the league. Both had that leadership and all the intangibles though. They had that drive and competitive spirit. Worked worked worked to get better. Can’t thread the needle from distance like Favre  did. Don’t take the chances him and ARod do. But they get the best out of most around them. Guys like Murray….went number one. Got supreme talent. But do they make those around them better? I don’t see it. Just stud players playing as an individual. Football has proven time and time again….eleven guys working together is bette than more talented individuals they face. Definitely a team sport. Nobody even doubts our QB1 with any of this. So I’d say if he can match the GOAT numbers for his same point in his career I’m riding with him. Only way I balk at this point is if DCs figure him out and stop him. Which is totally possible. But if he throws for the 3,700 yards TB12 did at the same point in his career. With a decent TD to int ratio….I have no problem rolling with him. He’s our guy.

Hard to know, the player quality when Brady was a rookie is so much different than now

Still wrong although you keep repeating it. By the time Hurts took over the writing was already on the wall about Wentz and Ped. Pity you keep harping on Hurts "taking the job". He was getting some experience reps in because the season was already gone, and so were Wentz and Ped. They could have let Wentz finish the season if they wanted to(it was already gone either way)

Both EXTREMELY accurate, Hurts is not. Both can make multiple reads,Hurts hasn't shown that. Both took their respective teams deep into the playoffs or won the SB. Hurts slopped his way into a playoff berth beating 3rd stringers. Both are demanding QB's and they will both get in players faces for non performance, Hurts is a "nice guy". If he wants a SB, he needs to grow a pair on the field. Sometimes this means not being a "nice guy". Let's also recall the rules changes on QB hits. Both Brady and Brees dealt with being hit with no penalties. There were no "hands to the face" calls made back then. Now you get penalized if you look at the QB wrong,so this is apples to oranges baloney. There was no 5 yard chuck rule as I recall either
