If we become a run dominant offense with short underneath passing, it may fit our crappy personnel better, but the best case scenario is a loss in the wild card round…with zero long term progression towards becoming a competitive team.

Pretty much the best case scenario anyways (unless we trade for Watson)

Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

Okay, in what way?

It sounded like you were implying we don't have any good receivers.  I think otherwise.

You guys remember 2018/2019 when we had practice squad WR playing in final weeks of the season??
Competition is great, and I’d be interested in Washington only depending on the cost. A 6th or 7th founder sounds good to me, anything higher & it’s a no go.

More WR depth/talent/competition the better

well then let's do nothing but sign receivers, you know because the more depth/talent/competition the better, right?

or was I indeed saying Washington stinks and so do some of our receivers.

How does Washington stink?

Washington can play. He is a vertical WR playing for a team with a bad OL and a QB that can no longer throw deep. It's a bad fit.

It's why JuJu and Johnson get so many targets for them.

That and he can't catch

I think Washington needs badly to find their long term answer at QB. I actually think that team has the potential to be extremely good if they found it. They have weapons on offense with mclaurin, Samuel, gibson and Logan Thomas. Oline could use some help but their defense has the chance to be very good.

Fine by me

His 51.7% career catch rate in 3 years is somewhat uninspiring.

Watson, Washington, Watkins, Ward and Walker. Potent offense.

Oh good, a bad team that's also boring to watch.

Love the alliteration. Don’t forget we can add Williams twice , Wilson. More Ws then this team potentially has Ws this year.

He was drafted very high by a good football team, was given every opportunity, and was beaten out by just about everyone on his team.

Now that Doug is joining forces with Nagy that might describe The Bad News Bears ...

Would he have been beaten out by the likes of Reagor, Fulgham, Watkins, Hightower, JJAW? We don't know and that's why it's worth a look to bring him in cheap. He has a lot of talent and your argument here doesn't hold a ton of weight IMO. Pittsburgh isn't a big down field passing team anymore and he is a vertical threat so he could have fallen down the depth chart due to that.

Gotta say one thing I am impressed with how quickly they got young on offense:

Quote

RB: Sanders (24), Scott (26), Johnson (24), Gainwell (22), Howard (26)

WR: Smith (22), Reagor (22), Fulgham (25), Hightower (25), Watkins (23), Ward (26), JJAW (24)

TE: Goedert (26), Ertz (30), Jackson (23)

OT: Dillard (25), Mailata (24), Johnson (31), Driscoll (24)

OG/C: Semalo (27), Dickerson (22), Opeta (24), Kelce (33), Juriga (24), Brooks (31), Herbig (26), Pryor (26)

Yeah I'm sure I'm missing a few but that's at least a pretty high upside group with only 4 guys over 30.  Gonna be plenty of growing pains and a few busts I'm sure but getting young on offense was an essential first step, they ripped the bandaid off quickly and cleanly.

there’s a good chance if they struggle early Nagy gets canned and doug potentially becomes the interim head coach( if Doug is actually on that staff)

He’s not on the staff. He’s just visiting a friend. He’s tight with Nagy.

I was going to say i didn’t see the bears make that move this offseason to hire him as a coach. And even with Nagy being tight with Doug i can’t see him hire him and having a SB winning HC in the bears back pocket if you fail early

He might be a consultant or something

Doug should be using his year off to network and learn new ideas. This could be a great opportunity for him to put together a prospective coaching staff.

You guys all jinxed Justin Jefferson. Talking about him so much that he may have just broken his collarbone in camp.

If he were 240 lbs, he wouldn't have gotten hurt.

They were talking about Washington.  The Pittsburgh WR.

Lol. My bad. Ah i should’ve followed the entire convo back. I was gonna say i don’t think Washington is that bad

Anybody can be young.  The Bengals were "young" for 20 years.

BTW.  Wanna make any bets this season?

Fair.  Just glad they shed dead weight quickly and, theoretically, have high talent guys under 25 at pretty much every offensive position. It's a step in right direction at least.

Hmmm maybe. Nothing comes to mind right away though. I'm higher on Dickerson than most but can't really think of a bet that can be made on an iOL who may start the season injured.  Any thoughts?
