Reich has Wentz playing within himself.......Reich is using the running game well and the short passing game.

Reich has got Wentz back to fundamentals.....his footwork, his release and his decision making all look like he's getting back to what he was......I think Wentz is going to get better and better as the year progresses, but he's not going to be the "do it all" guy.....and he will be more effective in running the offense.

Which is what happens when you are no longer in a dysfunctional organization...especially one where the GM can't draft and the Owner thinks he is a personnel guru and coach.

The thing is Wentz had no pre season and only 5 practices before the first game. This all on a new team. Then he sprains both ankles but he shows his toughness and leadership and plays on them. Dude is a warrior and if he stays healthy he’s going to thrive in that offense

The question is, would, Indy dare to bench Wentz (or find some pseudo IR injury) come week 13/14 if he is playing as well as he is right now, just to not give Philly a mid level 1st round pick...I honestly cannot see how they could not continue to play him, and will just have to accept that their 1st round pick might have to be the price they pay for a QB that is starting to thrive in a much more Wentzesque friendly environment...

They would never do that. Plain and simple

That’s the big question that a lot of fans think they know the answer to

I’ve said this before, but I just don’t see it happening. Now granted, a new injury or exacerbating the current injury or going on a streak of games sheeting the bed is a game changer, but if Wentz is playing well, I don’t see him getting pulled for the simple reason Chris Ballard has his own reputation to worry about. Teams like making trades with conditions at times for good reason. If Ballard is showing he’s the type to pull a player simply to avoid meeting conditions, he hurts his own credibility, and no one trades conditionally with him again.

They had a chance to lower his snap count in a blow out and they didn't. That should be everyone's answer right there.

Don't see the Colts sitting Wentz just to keep their first round pick. Small price to pay for a Franchise QB. From everything I've heard they couldn't be happier with the trade.

I agree with you. If they were willing to give up a first then I don't see them sitting him. If the feel they got themselves a franchise QB for the next few years then a first was a good price to pay.

Unless Wentz gets injured we’re getting that first round pick.

Let's hope the Bills beat the Titans tonight to keep the Colts within a stone's throw of the division lead.  So long as Wentz is fit to play and they are still close to TEN for the division by Week 13 then that 1st Round pick will be a lock for us.  Not that I think the Colts would bench him once eliminated from the playoffs if he hasn't hit his 75% of snaps mark, but it would be nice to have it be a done deal by Week 13.

Wild cards are still available. Either way I’m still not buying this benching of a healthy Wentz stuff regardless. Wentz is rebuilding his own reputation and confidence. He’s not going to sit 3-4 games for the hope of a pick.

Exactly! Why risk the possibility of messing with Carson’s head if the purpose of the trade was to get themselves a quarterback. Pretty much all picks are gambles. They start messing with Carson’s head over a pick they’re in trouble. Everything is going to plan. Carson is playing well enough, but the Colts aren’t winning a lot of games. As long as Carson stays healthy and avoids Covid we should get the first.

A WC is not out of the realm of possibility as it's still early in the season and anything can happen.  They have loads of ground to make up, though, and their upcoming schedule has a few tough games:  @SF, TEN, NYJ, JAX, @BUF, TB.  That's 4 games you could say are 50/50 at best.  There's a chance even after Week 13 they are in the hunt for a WC spot.  Depends how they come through those 6 games.

I'd love to see a poll of NFL executives of who would take Wentz versus Hurts.  My guess is that Howie couldn't vote enough times to keep from looking like the dumbest guy in the room.

That  is an irrelevant question considering it was never an option. Wentz cried his way out of town, so this wasn’t a case of Howie choosing Hurts over Wentz. Furthermore EVERY GM had a chance to get Wentz. Only the Colts made a move to get him.

Big win for the Titans.

Yup. Colts are still close enough in that divisional race, and can still be a figure in wildcard race. I think Titans winning was best for us

Yeah, in the long run it's just better for us if the Titans win the division. We want the Colts to be semi-threatening for a wild card late in the year (and not make it, of course), but what we really don't want is for them to somehow win the division. Even worse would be for them to advance a round or two.

So for now, let's just keep the Titans in first place.

This year, which incidentally will give the Eagles another 1st round pick.

I think that would hurt them with future trades, trust wise. If they feel like Wentz is playing well and they feel like they 'got what they paid for', then I think they'll be ok with letting the 2nd round pick become a 1st round pick.

If they 'pull a fast one' and it's obvious, nobody will trust them in future trades.

We don't know how the Colts FO views this but they could look at it like it's a first round pick that becomes a second if Wentz gets hurt or is really bad. I know that's not the way the trade was set up but that's how they could look at it. If Wentz is good for them then a first was a bargain.

There is nothing irrelevant in wondering which they would choose.  It would be an interesting tidbit.

You get so testy when Wentz enters the equation.  I am concerned for you and UK both.
