That's the first thing I thought.  What do you think?  A 3rd?

I could deal with that. I think he has less value to them as a short term piece to help propel them through playoffs while Henry is out. And not necessarily look to extend him long term. Sorta like the stupid Golden Tate deal for us.

But I dont need to hold out for more from another team. Not sure that theres even a market for him. Its just an opportunity for us to approach Tennessee and see if we can get something decent for their misfortune.

I think a 3rd sounds about right.

The offense aren't sustaining drives bud. They aren't sustaining drives because the scheme is pretty damn bad and they don't run the ball enough. Whether Hurts can operate in any offense is another question but pretty much every QB would struggle in the one they've run this year.

The scheme is leaps and bounds better than what Doug was drawing up.  Hurts can't see the open receivers, much less get the ball out on time and on target.

Hurts is a high-end backup/low-end starter.    If (when) Sirianni tells Lowie he needs a QB to fit his system I believe they will give him that chance, and acquire a QB who can operate it.

The Chargers are coming off 2 losses and have the worst run Defense in the League.   There should be a similar game plan from the Lions, Pound that rock with Boston and Jordan.   Defense needs to constantly pressure Herbert and make him uncomfortable all game.

They asked him to make a single read and throw it or give it.  He failed to do that well.
They asked him to drop back and read the defense, and he has ignored the left and middle portions of the field.
They asked him to hang in the pocket, go through his progressions and deliver the ball on time and on target.   He holds on to the ball, bails unnecessarily, usually to the right, and throws the ball to the right side.

Ultimately, he is only comfortable when he's on the move, not when he's standing in the pocket.

They wanted Taysom Hill, according to them when they drafted him.   They got him... with a 2nd round pick.  Meanwhile, Taysom Hill was an UDFA.

Howie said they didn't want to miss out on another Russell Wilson, like they did before.  So, they over drafted Hurts.  Good news, they didn't miss out on Wilson 2.0, they misidentified Hurts as Wilson 2.0.   Not sure which is worse.   Personally, I think misidentifying is worse, but I could be mistaken.

Yup.....   and zero improvement. he did this exact same thing yesterday, and I was laughing at this when it happened live.

He is a back up QB at best, and quite honestly you can sign those without using high draft picks.

Howie has been more wrong than right, and when he does get lucky and a good player falls to their pick, he overthinks it.

Quick report on the OL.

Mailata and Dickerson. Both are still gimpy.

Mailata almost gave up a safety early and was beaten to his outside several times. He's not getting good push off his right leg. For a moment I thought he had thrown away the knee brace but he was still wearing it; it was just taped over. Some good run blocks but he pretty much has one kick step and that's it. Can't repeat off the right leg  yet.

Dickerson had some balance issues. He gets over his skis sometimes and he's not the most graceful of athletes. All the same, he had some absolutely awesome run blocks. He's wearing the brace on his left leg. Oddly, he seems to run block better to his right even with the left leg brace. He got up into LBs several times to good effect.

Those two guys ever get fully healthy, that left side will be ridiculous.

I didn't see what happened to Driscoll. I thought Herbig played well, though I mostly concentrated on the left side. Lane was solid, as was Kelce.

Hard to know what to make of all this because Detroit was so bad.

See, this is exactly why I want to see a different QB in there instead of Hurts. Put Minshew or even Sinnett in and see if Sirianni's scheme is really this bad or if its Hurts that just can't run an offense.

I don't expect any of the QBs on this team to take them to the playoffs, but I would like to see if Sirianni's offense is truly like this.

Afan swings in the breeze amidst his opinions, because he changes it to offer the best possible defense of Howie he can.   Back then, Wentz was the issue, so consistency fell on the QB's shoulders.   Now, Hurts is struggling, so the fault must lie with the rest of the roster.  So, Rothlisberger goes from the reason they were consistent, to just the benefactor of the consistent Steelers roster.

It isn't hard to understand where afan's motivations come from.   Just like yesterday he took a victory lap because the Eagles blew out the Lions, as if yesterday's game actually meant anything to the long term success of this franchise.  I just wonder if he types all this nonsense out with a straight face.

Ben hasn't been a top QB for years, neither has Ryan. 2018 was Ben's last good season. From 2007-2018, yes, 2019-2021 no.

I didn't take a "victory lap," but I'd point out that last year's defense was bottom ten despite playing half its schedule against QBs worst than Goff.

Right now Eagles are 19th in PA per game, 4th in yards per play, 11th in net yards per play passing, 9th in yards per rush, 17th in drives ending in a score. Amazing how your stats improve when you start getting past the tough part of the schedule!

They're 13th in PF per game, 9th in yards per play, 19th in net yards per play passing, 4th in yards per rush.

Sirianni is playing a more conservative, run oriented offense, which will win games against average and bad teams, but will be vulnerable to top defenses, but there aren't many left on the schedule, basically the Saints and Denver (in Denver).

WFT and Jets are good against the run, awful against the pass, Chargers are good against the pass, but allow 5 yards a rush.

They're a mediocre team, better than last year but far from good. As the OL settles in, they should improve the second half. But the fundamental issues on defense can't be solved without a couple offseasons (even if they add a couple studs, most draft picks make their mark their 2nd or 3rd season).

They should probably end up with 6 maybe 7 wins, which is still an improvement over 4-11-1.

Hurts can win you games with his legs, he's a first tier RB as a QB, and that gives him time to master the position. At worst, he keeps you competitive while you wait for a better option, instead of reaching for the next Bortles or Dan Jones b/c you "have to find a franchise QB."

Note Hurts now has a QBR above Mayfield (1), Lawrence (1), Goff (1), Wilson (2), Fields (11).  Just sayin'

Congrats Jalen`12th Start in the Books.   It was a big one too.   Eagles most dominating regular season win in almost a Decade.  One win away from Tying Last Year's total and 2 wins from surpassing it.   Jalen continues to develop and grow.   Very pleased with the more balanced approached by Nick (What we've been screaming for weeks).   It opened up so much for Jalen to run the offense Efficiently.   He even lead in rushing with both Boston and Jordan having big days.  There's always room for improvement since he's still a young QB but that will continue with each start.    The Eagles are only one game out of the Wild Card Race with 9 Games to go.   The season is far from over, let's keep this going Jalen.  We need to get on a streak.

Yes Jalen, please continue to help us win by playing the Lions every week and also by running and not passing

Not Russel Wilson, unless you mean Zach Wilson. But I can play this game too, Darnold, Garoppolo, Jones, Bridgewater, Tua, Mac Jones, Wentz, Brisset, and Tannehill all have a QBR above Hurts. Just sayin'.

@LeanMeanGM  Chargers 28- Eagles 17

Bonus: Nick goes back to trying to win with Jalen actually passing the ball

right, and then Watsons starts more games then Tua and gives them a better chance the rest of the year. Dumb idea

Dumb response.

He wouldn’t start right away & wouldn’t be successful right away because:

1. Will likely receive suspension when he is ready to play again

2. Still has the distraction going on

3. Has to learn new playbook

4. Has to develop chemistry with offense

5. Hasn’t played in almost a year, will be rusty

Even starting with the Texans last year he only won 4 games.

If we can win just 1 more game this year and do so in a dominating way like yesterday, it would be against the Saints.

It's unlikely to happen but would love to beat the sheet out of Sean Payton just once.

Miami comes to us and says we want our 1st round pick back.  Take any 2 players off our team.  Would you do it and who would you pick off their roster?

Colts must be sick to their stomach, they win that game yesterday, it would almost be their div to lose.

Yep.  Horrible decision by Wentz on the int.  Taylor was wide open and might still be running.

If the tape showed the WRs were covered up, then sure.   But, when the tape shows multiple options available on plays that he forces to his primary read, or leaves a perfectly good pocket rather than delivering the ball, then you can't really make that argument.

As for whether or not its a good scheme... Hurts is the one delivering the ball constantly to the right side and short.  Are they the only reads or are they just the only reads he is seeing or feels comfortable to throw to?  I am going to go with the latter, not the former.  I have no doubt in my mind that the system is not designed for him to ignore more 2/3 of the field during the course of a game.

Hurts' biggest issues are: lack of a true NFL arm, lack of pocket awareness, and a lack of vision of the entire field.  And few of those are going to go away.  A player that only locks on his first read can get better at progressions, but a guy who can only see to his right, rarely is going to all of a sudden (or even with a ton of work) start to see the full field.

The only consideration there is Xavien Howard and Devante Parker.  And even that makes me feel dirty with Thibodeaux, Neal, Hamilton, etc. available at the top of the 2022 draft.  So my answer is an emphatic "no."

lack of vision... staring at the rush, not the field, and that pocket was just fine.... until he tried to escape.    THROW THE BALL!

Curious to see what their O scheme will be vs the Chargers since they have the worst run D in the League giving up 159yds/game and 5.1 YPC, both dead last.  You have to wonder after so many games of throwing, throwing, throwing that if yesterday wasn't a designed conservative game plan to save face so they wouldn't lose to a winless team and overall bad organization.  We will get the answer next Sunday.  If they revert back to shotgun and throwing 80%+ of the time then they're still stupid and only did it so they wouldn't lose to the hapless Lions.  Here's a chance to be smart and run the ball vs a team that sucks at defending the run and also has a good O that you want to keep off the field as much as possible.  Conversely, their pass D is 5th best is YPG, 7th best in YPA, and 8th best in QBR against.  RUN.  THE.  BALL.

Still, even with the limited pass plays, Hurts still didn't look good.  He still feels phantom pressure when the pocket is clean and starts dancing around when there's no need to.  Once he does that it's difficult for the OL to know how to block the DL because they don't know where the Hell Hurts is now.  And that pass chart was possibly his worst all season with only 1 throw past the LoS to his left, everything else was right and I don't recall seeing anything over the middle.  FFS, Cedrick Wilson, a WR, threw a better ball rolling to his right than any pass I've seen from Hurts all season.  Wilson's had some zip on it for a low trajectory throw and hit Lamb in stride.  And that stepping OOB trying to throw the ball away, if not for the penalties would have been a 10-15 yard loss.

Concerning the D, it was nice to see Wilson benched and Edwards/Taylor get more snaps than Singleton.  The Lions were without their most effective RB and we shutdown their ground game yesterday when we've been getting gouged on the ground.  And Goff was poor yesterday.  Question is with a top tier QB does Gannon go back to the 2 high deep Ss leaving a cushion in the middle of the field that Herbert can either carve up or they can run on at will?  Will our D attack or be passive?  We know what our players are on D and that we lack quality talent among the back 7 so what I want to see is how the DC and D coaches do first with their scheme while the players performance is secondary.  This game will show if Gannon is starting to turn a corner or if he'll go back into his shell, IMO.

Did Hurts break the record for fewest yards passing when your team scores 40+ points?
