I'd love to know why Joe Buck is getting so excited about the catch?  Looked kinda routine to me.

Re-read your post and focus on the bolded part.    Everything is exciting to Joe Buck, he has no clue what's going on.   (Just ask Peyton Manning)

Kind of feels like that’s not a 10 day injury unless he just tried to play through it.

Maybe @HazletonEagle or @eagle45 can chime in, but if it is mallet finger, it's essentially a torn tendon at the tip of your finger (I had it). Your finger is placed in a splint for immobilization for 6 weeks. There's also a possibility that the the finger tip fractured, which I think is much worse?

I knew you were a mallet head, but I had no idea about the finger.

Good to watch. I think he missed a lot but having the All-22 to look at the OL is always a pleasure.

In all seriousness, sorry about your finger

Lol no worries, this was 3 years ago now. It healed up really great, though when it gets cold it aches a bit more than the others.

Its not any worse if its an avulsion fracture , or torn tendon. Treatment is the same. They used to tend to operate on one more than the other but they found it completely unnecessary. Same results as non-op either way.

It needs to be completely immobile. If anything happens that the splint is removed, the timeline starts completely over again. You seriously cant move it one bit.

Its usually treated non-surgically but if for some reason it doesnt heal after the period of immobilization then theyd operate. Usually once you operate on a tendon your motion at that joint is never the same again. They do it too loose, itll continue to have a slight droop. They do it too tight, he wont be able to flex it as much as he used to, ever again. And theres really no getting it perfect. You are left with a deficit one way or the other. The doctor can err on either side that makes more sense for you.

Id suspect theyd opt to treat it non-operatively. A difference of maybe 2 weeks healing time isnt worth knowingly, permanently affecting motion of that joint.

I dont think he would try to play through it because its likely to get in the way of the QB/Center exchange and cause fumbles. And continue to keep getting hurt every time the ball smashes in to that finger tip thats in the way. And it wont heal.

After reading all that Princess/Prince stuff, you can all call me Prince UK Eagle from now on as one of my descendants was a legit 18th British Prince years ago, before it all went a bit wrong for him in the succession thing.  Should have been the King but the silly boy didn't know when stop wars or invading other countries to get a Kingdom.  Such is life 18th century life of the entitled.

All we got in the family was Ginger Hair and a dislike for certain places in England and Scotland.

Yes I remember being so anxious when the 6 weeks was up. Basically, if the splint is removed and the finger tip droops, you have to start all over again. My finger tip now actually has a bit of super flexion to it at rest, which is cool.

Outside of that Cowboys game this offense has been so much better to watch this season with a QB who isn't turning the ball like crazy, consistently making wildly inaccurate throws and refusing to ever throw the ball away and take sacks instead.

that is.

I used to work with a hand surgeon, who is from Wisconson and eventually moved back out there, to Green Bay where he is now the guy who would treat hand injuries for the Packers.

That guy was amazing. I have seen him save hands so mangled. In farm country hands caught in equipment and just shredded and shattered. A great hand surgeon is a literal hero to so many people. Not everything can always be completely restored in injuries so gruesome. But seeing him talk through different scenarios and options and telling patients I can restore this, but not this. Or this, but not that. And deciding which would benefit them most in life knowing and explaining they will always have another deficit. But seeing a patient in their first or 2nd post-op visit so amazed and grateful that they even get to keep their hand and it actually being useful, for something. Rather than losing it like they expected they would, or not being able to use it at all.

I enjoy my time with the sports doctors more. But those were some really rewarding experiences that you dont get in sports. Hands are pretty cool.

Jack Driscoll when he is not injured is as good as any RT in the league.. He bricked Chase Young on his first start and always held up well against anyone that he went up against. Its such a shame Eagles cant release or trade Lane..

Guess you didnt see the 25 yard post pass that looked like it took the wind out of Robert Woods

Stafford, at 33 with 4,000 attempts on his arm still and always will have a stronger arm than Hurts.

In Fact, Stafford still probably top 10 in strength.

I was teasing because he under threw a few with a dislocated index finger.  Having more arm than Hurts isn’t saying much, him and Minshew should have a throw off for weakest, Flacco on the hand can launch em.
