Best case scenario would be if we win 9-10 games this year, hurts is better than last year and the receiving core makes him look better than he is, and then we trade him for a 3rd next year to team who might believe.

That's the best-case scenario?

I would assume the best-case scenario is that AJ Brown is exactly what they needed, that everything clicks with Jalen, and they win the division and go on a deep playoff run.

You'd have to think that we'll be seeing much more of the pass happy offense from early last year again. The question is, how long is Hurts leash? If he struggles the first, 4 games lets say, does he get yanked and it's Minshew time?

They can't justify trading a first and third for Brown, giving him $25M/year and then throwing 20 times a game.  They can't.

So, they have to throw Hurts back into the fire, just like they did at the start of last year.  We'll see what he's learned pretty quick.  Hopefully they don't punt on the preseason again.  He needs to work on timing and needs reps with a live rush.

Saints going 0-17 would be optimal

You are gonna make me do it? Show you his highlights from earlier this year with the Nets and last year with the Nets. Does someone lose their athleticism in 3 months? I don’t think it works like that. Now that the rule change occurred, he can’t get to the foul line any more. He was getting to the foul line more than Embiid until the rule change this year. He will work on his game, like he does every year and will adjust. He will never be a 27ppg scorer again but he can average 22 while getting 12 assists. And with Maxey getting better, that’s all we will need. Well, besides a bench with some shooters and new coach.

you still on about this, nancy? a bet about what exactly? your level of uninformed?

i've been deep in the draft blog since ndirish and I were arguing for Lee Evans over Rashaun Woods, man....

Yep. People will continue killing Howie for going big for a WR and that he isn’t learning, but it’s an acknowledgment that he can’t draft the position for S. Fix it with a proven talent and be done with it.

This was the first move he's made this offseason that makes me wonder if he actually has learned something.  There's a gleam of hope.

Unless he got a brain and arm transplant this off season, that isn’t happening.

325-330 would be a huge deal for him.  I’d be surprised.

Hopefully they’ll beat that number in his and his moms head for his long term health.  The kid is gonna have some great teachers this season with Cox, Kelce, and Graham helping him out, his rookie season in terms of learning the NFL is gonna be really important since two out of those three won’t be here in 2023.
Gannon and him should make a deal, if he keeps his weight at 325, he can line up and rush from the 9 on 3rd and longs 2-3 times a game.

Based on what the Saints did last night, they seem to think they are contenders… in the NFC that isn’t a stretch, becoming a pretender isn’t that high of a bar.

What happens when he has to poop before a game again and doesnt play?

Not necessarily. Idk how to feel because I don’t necessarily understand the compensation. And I’m not sure how I feel about any of this. LOVE AJ Brown. Always have. But that’s a lot to give up and pay him. When Treylon Burks was there without the money. Idfk. Love Brown. But I’m not sure he fixes our problems

Treylon Burks=gamble. AJ Brown=known commodity. So we spent a 3rd round compensatory pick on a 24 year old stud.

Elam before Booth is surprising.

Agreed. Elam though has length that most others do not in this draft. They drafted traits.

For Fing real. Hutchinson’s entourage was MILF central.

I think we trade down to recoup some lower picks.

I already have all season. I called that trade ahead of BAL for weeks.

My take aways....

I got my head ripped off suggesting Karlfatis and Booth Jr would slip into the 2nd. one went 30th, one still hasn't been drafted

I truly believe we tried to move up to get Jameson Williams got burnt, and made a panic pick with Jordan Davis

Getting a run stopper who isn't an every down player in a pass happy league is extremely depressing.

The Jets had the best draft last night and it's not even close

Jordan Davis has always been their target. You have little to no concept of what he’s going to mean to Gannon’s defense. Good call on Booth, but he sure as heck won’t be there at 51 as you were saying.

@4for4EaglesNest I’m ready for my Ridder punishment. Honestly, I’m more shocked Willis didn’t go than Ridder. Send me my 30 day gift.

Very well could be true but imho should've gave the money to Butler.

First and a third. Look around. That's what you pay to get a one these days. Actually we got off a little easy IMO. Basically giving up a third to get a proven WR instead of a gamble at 18.

i can get that, but you have to factor in the difference between what the #18 contract is (~5M) and the ~25M Brown hits the cap for. that 20M delta costs you other players....

Then he does it on Depp's side of the bed and then goes out and does his job.   I'm tired of the scared mentality in the preseason... and there's no reason NOT to do in person OTAs this year.  ZERO.

Maybe we can push him up the list.

I was OK with it last year, because sometimes it's worth trying something new. But it didn't result in anything other than a sloppy start to the year, which most predicted. I agree, this year, just go back to normal please.

Monkey's Paw....he gets Jamarcus Russel's brain and Chad Pennington's post-surgery arm.

Yes, I much preferred a more physical preseason and the entire team being injured as compared to last year when we actually had starters play the whole year.

Eagles have lots of picks going forward in 2023 and 2024. It's likely they'll draft a QB on a rookie contract next year.

They got a 24 year old borderline top 10 WR, and have one of the best sets of young passing weapons and a great OL. Once we get a QB, this offense is capable of competing for a Super Bowl

Oh cool.  That’s so impressive.  Go do more research about how a college player gets a nutritionist for the draft process and all of the sudden there’s no more weight concerns.

man

right after you go study all the ones that have successfully made that kind of successful development in the league. get back to me when you are done, clown.

I'm pretty sure we had the most penalties in the league the first month of the season. It settled down after that, but....couldn't have anything to do with avoiding live game situations all offseason, right?

Again look around. A actual one receiver has gotten ridiculously expensive. And it's now one of the most important positions in the league. Gonna have to spend money on it.

This team needs more Jalens.

Jalen Pitre in Round 2

Jalyn Armour-Davis in Round 3

surely. its paying to derisk. but is a second WR really that essential to building the team? opinions will vary wildly, but i think Smitty is more than capable of being that #1

it does seem obvious they are setting the stage to add the qb next draft
