RLC Posted April 30, 2022 Share Posted April 30, 2022 Couple of points 1) The Eagles lost 5 draft picks in the draft, so it's easier to recruit players for open spots. 2) Howie also lost 5 rookie pool picks by trading up, so he can use the extra cap space on players. BayAreaLennie Posted May 1, 2022 Share Posted May 1, 2022 Scanning the UDFA signings, it seems like the Eagles went huge on the UDFA budget this year and went out strong to get their guys. Still, all told, they will probably spend about $3M on UDFAs. I believe almost none of that ultimately will get applied to the salary cap - it seems like the Eagles recognized an inefficiency in the NFL salary cap model and have quite systematically exploited it.
