Has Werner turned it around yet?

He was quoted in the winter at saying he was surprised at how physical the league was compared to Germany.

Probably just took him some time to get use to the league.

I watch every single Chelsea game.  His play has been the same all year long.  He creates a ton of half chances but he just hasn't put the ball in the net and he also hasn't been particularly good on the final pass either.  Simply put, he has not been clinical with his final touch, pass, or attempt to score.  He's been Shaun Wright Phillips #2.

And what does that have to do with what he admitted

Uhhh, that nothing has changed.

Nerve wracking time for Chelsea supporters.  This could be a couple weeks of pure glory or it could be a massive failure in falling just short.

FA Cup final today vs. Leicester.  Then the game that likely determines whether they finish top four or not vs. Leicester (back to back) on Wed.  A last Prem match away on Sat at Villa and then the CL final against Citeh.

Could be two trophies and a meeting the season long top four goal result OR could be a large dose of nothing at all.

It is a tough road for sure. Win the final game and it becomes a full success though.

Leicester City... Fair play!

Dude was absolutely world class today

No doubt there. United would do well to sign Kasper.

Nice for Leicester. They deserved to win.

Varane to United rumors are heating up again. I think there might actually be something to it this time. He's on the last year of his deal this offseason, Madrid need money, so if he doesn't re-sign I could see him being available.

What are his strengths. We got Harry who is they physical CB and need a guy like Rio who can bring the ball forward.

I think DM, CB and RW are all pretty much on a par. If united go and buy a world class DM then that's going to be huge for them.

His strengths are, without exaggeration, pretty much everything. 6'3", arguably the fastest player in the world, great at tackling, rarely picks up cards, fantastic passer and dribbler, etc. If you designed a defender in FIFA, he'd basically be what you ended up with. The closest thing to a weakness about him are some muscle injuries commonly associated with fast athletes.

At Madrid he was usually in more of a deep sweeper role because of his other worldly speed. Also, Ramos was the one given the freedom to get forward because it's Ramos and he's a better striker than most strikers. But make no mistake, Varane is a world class ball playing defender. Cruyff turns, nut megs, carrying the ball forward because he's the fastest player on the pitch, through balls, long balls, he can do it all.

He's easily a top 5 CB in the world. IMO, he's #2 after Ramos and the difference isn't that great. He'd walk into United and be the best defender you have at every facet of the game and possibly be your best player overall. I really can't express enough how good he is. Only in Madrid when you spend your career next to Ramos and behind 2 Ballon d'Or winners does a guy this good fly under the radar. It's one of the reasons I noted that he didn't play against Chelsea. During the peak of Madrid's UCL title run, our entire system was basically dependent on Varane covering for Ramos and Marcelo bombing into the final third. He allows you to do things from a tactical perspective that you can't without him.

He'd only be available if he wanted a new challenge. Otherwise he gets a blank check and wears the arm band after Ramos is gone.

I suspect this is what happens. The United rumours will likely be a ruse to get a new deal with Real.

Usually that's the case, but Flo made some comments recently that made it seem a little more real this time.

Quite possibly this time yeah. I don't see it though. I don't know why he'd want to move to Manchester unless it was to play for Citeh.

Could be financial. Madrid is very well managed, unlike Barca, but the timing of COVID with their stadium rebuild was a truly worst case scenario.

Marshall is playing Indiana right now in the College Cup final.

Still 0-0 after 60 minutes.

Yep, their first championship in soccer.  Indiana was going for their ninth.
