PSG or United will give him a big pay day.

FWIW, China isn’t handing out the mega contracts anymore either. They changed their domestic rules because clubs were going broke

Well if they stopped that then yeah.  PSG seems like a likely option.  Not sure which club in England could be an option.  I don't think he is a fit for Chelsea in any case.

Man Utd already has Harry and not sure he and Ramos would fit, maybe in certain matchups

Belgium is the Sixers of soccer, but for the last decade

Ramos can fit in any system and next to any defender. Beast in the air and great with the ball at his feet. Still reasonably fast.

I think the issue is he supposedly wants 2-3 years.

It doesn’t look that way right now. I think we lose both.

I mean that's huge. That's an already somewhat struggling team who would be made even weaker. I mean you can't replace those guys, not really, not now.

Alaba is the Ramos replacement. Militao is the Varane replacement. We’d probably have to buy another center back to round out the depth chart with Nacho (who himself is getting old).

I’m thinking Madrid will try to use Varane to get Mbappe if Mbappe forces his way out.

But Alaba isn't young and can Militao step up to fill those boots? I think Real could be in trouble in the short term.

Yeah, it definitely doesn't inspire confidence. Militao did have a good season last year and is starting for Brazil, but he's definitely not at the level of Varane and Ramos.

Its going to be interesting because it seems Real are perhaps heading for a major rebuild?

No perhaps about it.

The finances of the club are really rough too -- flops like Hazard and Jovic cost huge transfer fees and salaries, Bale is still on the books for another year, we're remodeling the stadium, and there's no income from fans because of COVID. So our hands are kind of tied. I think Perez kind of pushed Ramos out thinking better a year too early than a year too late given his wages. I think that they'd like to keep Varane but won't be too bothered to sell him for 60 million or whatever while also getting his salary off the books. We also have a ton of players on loan, most of whom have been just OK, and I think a lot of them get sold. I have to imagine Isco gets sold as well, probably replaced by Odegaard.

Then there are the eternal rumors of Mbappe. I think we'd do everything in our power to buy him, but PSG has publicly stated he's not for sale at any price no matter his contract situation, and at this point I'm inclined to believe them. So it basically comes down to what he wants. They have a pretty impressive project, and if they bring in Ramos or Varane it will look even better. So I'm not sure the lure or Madrid's white shirt will be enough if we are in a total rebuild while he's entering the prime of his career. What we really need are some of the youngsters to make the big leap to super stardom. Vinicius and Rodrygo both have the talent, but they need to start scoring.

Poland played surprisingly well vs Spain. The penalty was absolutely baloney. So good to see Spain fkd that up. Easily could've been 2-1 POL or 2-2.

I think this has been part of the problem for Real. They've signed a lot of players but a lot of them aren't good enough. They have a lot of players on loan that probably won't ever be good enough to play at the top level for them either.

Both Barcelona and Real Madrid are in dire need of a rebuild.  Interesting times indeed.  The door is open for clubs like Sevilla to join Athleti and challenge over the next year or two in any case.

I agree. If another team in La Liga can get their act together they could push the big two for the next year or two.

I hate City

Doesn't mean they get him bud. I mean if they do then yeah that's title over next year and possibly the next couple of years.

Must mean Dortmund aren’t selling Halaand.

Atleti have always been in the title hunt. But yeah, door is open in Spain.

Probably not this year. It's an interesting one though because whoever buys Kane this year rules themselves out of Haaland next year. Now he may be set on Real or Barca anyway so it may not matter to the English clubs but still it's interesting.

United is my guess. Madrid and Barca have legit money issues.

Well yeah, I meant you start with two who enter every year as the favorites and then you have Athleti who've been a legitimate threat now for several years (winning once).  Beyond that no one else has had any chance of actually ending up on top for years.  That changes over the next couple of years and a Spanish Leicester can certainly emerge.

I will say with a high degree of confidence that Haaland will not join United.

Nice for Denmark

Next year

Then Jude in 2 to 3 years

I wouldn't want to play Denmark in the knockout stage. They are playing some great football.
