We're talking about keeping the chains moving on 3rd and short situations, on those plays the defense is expecting a running play thus they have more men in the box and the back is likely to encounter contact before the first down marker, a big downhill runner is more likely to produce a new set of downs instead of a punt.

Apparently I'm communicating with the Madden generation because you guys don't know jack.

If you're talking about someone who remembers John Madden when he coached the Raiders, I plead guilty.

I'm sorry I brough such a depressing topic into the blog.  A little back story without too much detail. I met my friend 12 years ago during an AF commissioning program. He was on top of the world

Different era.  King Henry is the guy right now, cant thinkn of many others today.

Agreed. He is a beast. Love watching him play. Pretty damn quick too.

Further more, @austinfan, you want facts

How's this (and I'm not even pushing for Minshew to start, I think he's a good backup)

Minshew, with the same team around him that Hurts had:

20/25 242 yards, 2 TDs, 0 Ints, and 11.28 adjusted yards/attempt.

But go on, tell us how Minshew's ceiling is Hurts floor.

Like, Hurts against the Giants:

14/31 129 yards, 0 TDs and 3 INTs.

Equally terrible teams.

You can step off your high horse now.

Yeah, I'll step off and let my horse dump on you. Because you're so full of it you won't even notice.

That AB tweet was an all-timer. His HoF speech will be as equally entertaining as it will be nauseating.

I don’t think he’s going to get in. If it took TO 3 tries, who is not only better than AB, but way less of a nut, then it will take AB several years, if he’s ever voted in at all. Writers have agendas, they’ve shown that. They let personal feelings get in the way of votes.

His upright running style always reminds me of Robert Smith

There are always freaks like Earl Campbell, but if you want a short yardage runner, get me someone with vision, a quick first step through the hole, the ability to get "skinny" through the crease, and the ability to run low with leverage. Now it helps to be 220 lbs, but I'll take a 200 lb back with those attributes over a 220 lb back who runs upright and tends to run into his offensive linemen.

But hey, what do I know, I remember John Madden too.

The point of my original post had nothing to do with wanting a big back, it was bringing in yet another RB who is barely above the average female height. They already have 2 5-9 back and a 5-6 back on the roster.  Granted, Scott is rocked up at 203 I don't think I'm asking for much to not bring in yet another 5-7 RB at the position.

Hell, bring in a guy like Kalen Ballage, see if you can get anything out of him.  He had a ton of talent at ASU.  Wayne Gallman is a FA.  He's could be a productive back behind this line.

It's not a big deal seeing that as soon as Scott and Gainwell are healthy none of this matters.

The best short yardage back I ever saw was Marcus Allen.

Was John Riggins the guy being talked about where one of his coaches said "If you need 3 yards he'll get the 3 yards; if you need 5 yards he'll get the 3 yards"?

I always liked that quote

General Booty picked off by Major Burns

Can’t wait to see the beginning of the Carson "who?” Strong Era

Hopefully he can reach at least JAG status

I know it’s preseason, but Daniel Jones looks decisive in what he is doing.

If only he could play against the second team defense every week.

Tightrope surgery for NKeal Harry.   That’s one I’ve never heard of before.

That’s the Lane Johnson special

I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt that you wrote this during the first drive. My favorite thing I’ve noticed is that Golladay can’t create any separation at all and his contract is one of epic disaster. 😂

Giants cut Bradberry. His replacement, Aaron Robinson, just gave up two catches on a drive, a 30 yarder and a TD, and was beaten on a third deep route, against the Pats backups.

Yikes.

I didn’t say he was Tom Brady, just said he looked decisive.  It probably won’t translate into anything, but you never know.

Giants have sucked for a long ass time, geez.

Refs are in midseason form in this game already. That taunting call on the TD was horrific.  They ejected that dude for almost no reason.

Yep, moved on to Ravens Titans

That's not what that means.
