This might legitimately be the craziest thing I've ever read on this board.

Easy produced oil is getting scarce and that leads to less oil. We talk about US energy independence. But with most of oil being deep or requiring fracking to access, that oil production isn’t sustainable at less than $60 a barrel. WTI was at $87 and Brent at $92. That’s about right to account for production (getting it out of the ground). From production also comes the need to degas. Then transport, then refine. One of the bottlenecks is refining capacity. That’s not a liberal or conservative issue, that’s a cost/benefit analysis that really doesn’t suggest a good return on investment. He specifically said, putting climate change aside, it really comes down to availability (and profitability). Well and commodity buyers like JP Morgan speculating up the cost of buying oil.

To a point, if we had the infrastructure in the US to handle so much of our population living away from cities, or basically living in places that should of never been developed, like parts of California, Las Vegas, or any other area that was a desert. We have the issue now where I live in Eastern Sussex County Delaware, the pay is far lower than the cost of living even though it’s one of the fastest growing counties east of the Mississippi. The FF chains and Clothing outlets cry and moan that they can’t get help while paying $12-13 an hour, yet a one bedroom, 600sqft apartment within 20 miles is $1700 per month. Which means even if they’re paying $16 an hour, it isn’t getting you that one bedroom apartment, so then you’re driving 50-60 miles round trip at $4 per gallon of gas. I haven’t looked recently at the cost of an electric car, but I’m sure it’s more than someone making $16 an hour can afford, and not everyone can pay for a used hybrid, which will come with payments, plus repair cost.

Honestly I’m surprised they haven’t capped crotch rockets at 600’s, and even those for an inexperienced rider can be scary. Now with the cost around $15-16 grand for a 1000, hopefully the price tag will keep some kids away. Riding isn’t nearly as popular as it was 15 years ago, much less 5. The younger generations aren’t as interested in riding anything, metric or Harley, both of my sons grew up riding dirt bikes before bicycles, they’re both in their 20’s and neither want to ride on the street. Street bikes I’m sorta like whatever if the younger generations stay completely away from them, but I’d hate to see dirt biks lose more popularity with kids. Once you figure how to work on them, it’s really not that expensive, and they’re making em electric as well. I learned to ride on a 50c Indian when I was about 12😄 It was uncles kids bike he gave it to my dad and we used to take it down to the sand dunes in Utah with our dune buggy and scoot around There were always moto cross kids there doing backflips and stuff, pretty cool. Every Easter when we went almost every time some one would usually get taken out in an ambulance or life flight , not surprisingly alot were 3 wheeler accidents, those things were dangerous I think motor cycles and dirt bikes bullet bikes are all cool, in my family though like I said we don't ride them.

Also Turo (think AirBnB for cars) and Enterprise Car Share. Plus Lime, Scoot, Bird, Skip, Spin for scooters and Citibike et al for bikes and e-bikes. Kind of extensions of the likes of what Uber wants to do with driverless cars. Also look at AirBnB, VRBO, which are just extensions of renting out homes and second homes.

Admitting I haven't done my homework on this but killing the Keystone Pipeline was a serious blow to US energy independence, No? The loss of( I have heard 15 to 60 thousand ) jobs aside. the delivery of oil product to refining facilities without trucking seemed to be a no-brainer. Instead of selling petro product we are now begging International producers to help us out. What did I miss? What is the plan going forward or is it all a bow to the New Green Deal, Force/wean the US population to move away from petroleum products? Empower and finance all the solar, battery, Natural gas brokers? Serious question. What is the agenda here? yeh yeh CVON... just asking...
