FBI Raids Mar-A-Largo but ignores Pop Pop's much more egregious violations

OK. Those of you who swear you are right will have to endure the circus, conspiracy theories, and the podium he now has to once again play the victim card with poor optics behind him to fire up supporters like the rest of us. It didn't have to happen this way.

Oh no! You mean like claiming like he was the victim of a stolen election? Whatever shall we do now if he claims this is all a farce too? Hopefully Rudy Giuliana can go on camera in front of the nearest landscaping company to set the record straight!

I think you can reasonably assume, based on this, that the FBI left Mar-a-Lago in June knowing Trump STILL had classified documents in the basement that he hadn't turned over.

Why they didn't just leave with it then

3 minutes ago, we_gotta_believe said:

There is no report that they left empty-handed. The FBI had to go in and remove the documents after they learned not everything was turned over. How many times do they need to ask him to turn over all classified materials in his possession? How are you not following this? It's really not that complicated.

Well, at minimum they need to be holding a press conference today. None of us including you know what they did or didn't come away with or what exactly they were looking for. How are you not understanding the poor optics of this and how it doesn't matter what he had as much as how it looks with how it went down? If you are going to do a raid on an ex-president's home then you need to explain things to the public.

I mean, if this is all a witch hunt and they had no probable cause....

Trump could prove that right now by releasing a copy of the warrant. It would say what they were looking for, and why they searched his home. If it's all BS, Trump could prove that right now. He could show what they were looking for, and also what they took.

If only it were that easy lol

Ah.... Nevermind.  That's what I get for quickly looking at a tweet during a meeting.

Yeah, because prosecutors generally hold press conferences after executing search warrants. That doesn't prejudice a grand jury pool at all. Yup...no chance you're just handing a mistrial argument to the defense.

How are you not understanding that the people who signed off on this knew about the optics and still decided they had to go forward?

Yes, minus he evidently turned stuff in and this was to "verify" nothing else was there. Should he get special treatment? No. But this isn't a normal person it's an ex president and optics matter so patience and perhaps multiple more low-key visits should happen if only to prevent a circus like we are seeing.

LOL no, that's not how federal search warrants work.

And yea good point diehard, if this was just a normal person, he wouldn't have been given all the time and opportunity to cooperate and comply on his own.  This warrant would have been drawn up and executed a loooong time ago.

Had to get that out quickly instead of spending 20 minutes working on a gif I see.

The government?  The FBI you mean.

No, these are government wide standards.

Do you want to ask about what a 'document' is next? If so, count me out.

Oh believe me, I know full well that to you rubes it never matters what crimes he actually commits, but only how much he cries about how unfairly he's being treated.

Given the fact that they were asking to see things it's likely they didn't have a warrant so I doubt they could have taken anything or we even prepared to do so.

so what, we just "let it go" because we're afraid of the Trumplicans creating a circus?

besides the fact that Trumplicans will create a circus either way (see: CPAC), that's not how it works.

Maybe this will give SCOTUS the ammo they need and they can finally reinstate him as President like you wanted.

First, as president he can declassify anything he wants. That doesn't mean it was right. Second, that article say she turned some things in and that raid was to verify nothing else was there. They evidently went there once without the dog and pony show and he turned stuff in. Do things quietly that doesn't result with him having another podium, that doesn't fire up his supporters, and doesn't seem like we are becoming a banana republic. Optics matter. This was pure stupidity.

They don't get a warrant to raid a former presidents home for just verification.  Give me a break.

That's not our problem. Our problem is the optics.

But then he couldn't raise millions more dollars by whining about how unfair this all is.

Thinking there was a second raid because I haven't obsessively stared at Mar-o-lago enough to pick up that it was a joke tweet?

Yes, I am hoping for more next time so I can sit back, eat pizza and watch the world burn.  Sick "win" tho brah.

No, the problem is your MAGA colored glasses.

Read the story from CNN. It was to verify nothing else was there. Didn't say search for missing documents. Said to verify.

But yet the FBI agents left with a trove of documents.....wouldn't that point to he didn't give it all back???  LOL
