August 11, 20224 yr Piecing things together, apparently Trump named a handful of his staff as custodians of the records in question... Of note, both Cipollone and Meadows were named. And apparently custodians can be legally liable for the documents as well as Trump. Which could explain why someone spilled the beans mere days before the raid on what else might not have been turned over yet.
