Its so obviously the plan

I don't think there is a plan so much as there are possible paths. They hope Hurts pans out, if not they'll see if they can get a proven commodity then the draft. The odds of hitting on a guy in the draft that can get to a SB in year 2 are low

Let’s say Hurts has another year like last year, where it’s clear he’s not good enough to be a franchise guy but could be a cheap bridge QB for a team willing to be a run dominant squad (Seattle, maybe?), what would he be worth in a trade?

I would not low bc of the cap it saves you

bit its putting all the pressure on your scouts and coaches

This. Although I think they already know Hurts isn’t the guy long term. They just couldn’t replace him this year.

Streaming service.  Not like cancelling the satellite service.  Little more tricky.  If I was sober, I’d make the call for him.   I know I can squeeze them for at least $75

Long update.  My wife is out with her best friend at some small live music venue.  I was transferred 3 times with Directv (or whoever) then put on hold for over 30 minutes when I attempted this colossal failure.  I decided to order a pizza beforehand, and the estimated time to arrive was 100 minutes.  I put in the notes of my order to NOT ring the f’ing doorbell (daughter asleep) and just leave at our front door.

The pizza got here 1 hour early while I was on hold, and that a-hole from Papa John’s decided to ring our doorbell, which set off a cataclysmic sequence of events.  My dog flipped out barking bc someone was at the door, she ran outside to try and lick the guy to death, and he actually screamed.  Hudson woke up AND sheet her pants when she stood up in her crib.  I had to give her a bottle and put her back to sleep.

My phone was out here the entire time on hold, and it was still going.  I decided to hang up, because I realized tonight just wasn’t my night.

Quick @4for4EaglesNest or @downundermike - I'm on hold with NFL Directv Streaming Service (I don't have directv but I use their streaming app for the Eagles and have for a few years).  I want a discount for principle purposes, because I don't know anyone on the planet that pays full price for the ticket.

I'm in sales leadership too, but these bastids are tossing me back and forth like @olsilverhair does to @EaglePhan1986's salad 3 hours after a Chipotle dinner.

dude, take it easy,

Very little bc he will demand a new contract where he lands

He did last year. Seibert, you mean, I think.

If anyone would know, you would. Seems a sore groin could mean short kickoffs. That could help with field position if the Eagles can return. Big IFbut that might help.

Why re-sign Cox then this year and eat that space?

It’s a win win for Howie. He went all in on this season. Either it works and he looks like a genius or it doesn’t and he can blame it on the QB (which buys him additional years to build around the new guy) or even pin the blame on Gannon.

Beats me. Seems like they had a wink-wink nod-nod deal In place well before all this occurred.

Howie killed it this offseason, but that deal is a big, fat loser. It’s hard to even rationalize it.

If he mentors your first round pick there's some logic but it's a stretch.  If he's a key contributor to a playoff run then it makes sense.  I don't think they've written Hurts off tho I do think they'd have upgraded this past offseason if they could have.  Same will apply next offseason but the urgency will be greater if he doesn't improve

I’m not sure there’s any rational argument for paying Fletcher Cox $14M. He’s just not that good anymore. And no one else was paying him that either.

As for Hurts, the Eagles’ organizational philosophy is being a pass-first offense. Hurts will never be that guy (which made last year’s run-pass ratio at the beginning of the year completely asinine). Can he improve enough where teams have to respect his ability to sit in the pocket and beat them while they sit back in a zone because of his ability to run? That remains to be seen, but I have serious doubts.

I think his ceiling is around a top-20 starter who needs the offense to hide his deficiencies or be elevated by his supporting cast.

He has to make a big, big leap this year. He has no excuses. He’s in the same system, with a top OL and three damn good weapons in Brown, Goedert and Smith. In a lot of ways, he’s like Gannon. If he can’t make it work with this group, he’s not good enough.

I fully expect the Eagles to get their next QB through the draft if Hurts doesn’t take that leap.  I don’t expect much QB movement this offseason; Jimmy G, Cousins, Tannehill — none of them are all that exciting as alternatives.

The Eagles would likely grab an experienced bridge/backup until the draft pick is ready to start, much like Mariota and Trubisky are this season.

You confused the guy that has no understanding of Texas geography, not compass directions, and probably has never been to El Paso.   That’s in Big Bend country, the mountains and basins region.  West Texas is the high plains.  San Angelo has the Goodyear Proving Grounds.  When you were living in Texas did you ever venture out there.  Texas Tech has a pretty good archeology department and a real nice museum including many prairie structures at the National Ranching Heritage Center.

This actually sounds pretty amazing.  I plan on venturing out west soon, and I’m especially excited about the beauty of Arizona and have read amazing things about Sedona. I’ve actually never truly been to Texas outside of the Dallas and Houston airport dozens of times.  Something about Dallas makes me sick to my stomach.

They could also ride out Hurts or extend Minshew. Also, this roster is ready to win now so I think they bring in a low end starter not a high end backup.

I'm curious as to if they will wear their home green uniforms or the all black alts with the black helmet for their home opener against the Vikings on MNF.  They like to bust those black uniforms out sometimes on primetime.

Congrats, you’re a play in team

I think it's funny that you don't see that these constant jokes about being called racists are themselves a political statement.

Yes that too wtf @hputenis

Haven’t had that sheet since college. It’s just garbage cheese bread.

You’ve probably done less gross things in the bedroom with @olsilverhair
