Why? I think it's obvious Hurts is going to get hurt and miss time this year. You want to roll with Ian Book?

Dallas looks like a team that can implode and tank.  Now without Dak, McCarthy isn't the guy to rally the troops.  Dallas is in for a long season. I wouldn't be shocked if he's fired mid-season, for you know who.

Redskins could be an issue.

I'd guess Dallas has already given up on the season.  That franchise has that mentality woven into their DNA.

@4for4EaglesNest bet update

So far he's above our passing yards/game cutoff, below the completion percentage.

TD:INT is pretty much a wash since he threw neither.

Kinda what I expected. To get up to an average completion percentage he would have had a huge jump, but Brown gives him a good shot at hitting the yards cut off. TD:INT will likely be pretty flukey since it doesn't look like he'll be throwing much in the RZ, but didn't really force too many risky throws either.

If your offense is built around designed QB runs, you're screwed before the ball is even snapped. You think 17 QB runs is a good thing?

Why did we invest so heavily in WR and TE? So our "QB" can run 17 times?

A good 5 came from corner back blitzes or free runners to the QB if we had baker mayfield or some other QBs that have been listed as "better than hurtz” we lose to the lions.

But hey we will just get our "Josh Allen” in the draft next year since they grow on trees.

MNF is the right game for man coverage. They don't have a mobile QB and a #1 who needs to be doubled. At home, our pass rush should be better than the OL.

Of course, it's Gannon so who knows.

Are you sure about that ???

@bpac55 This is a good summary of EPA: https://www.the33rdteam.com/breakdowns/epa-explained/  I think it just adds context to a play.  Essentially you can think of it as differentiating from a check down throw on 3rd and 8 that gains 5 yars vs. a 5 yard checkdown throw on first and second down.

Thank You Kindly GIFs | Tenor

Games with 0 passing TDs:

1 2022

6 2021

1 2020

So 8 of 20 games started he hasn't thrown a passing TD.......that's a problem

You keep building those strawmen fella, one day you'll have a field full of 'em

To be clear, they don't have a mobile QB...and they 100% have to double Justin Jefferson at all times.

Been saying this all offseason. He had 9 starts last year of 1 or less tds. Thats back up QB  performances yet he is praised like the next coming. I still would rather have Davis Mills right now over him

Too early to tell but if Detroit ends up being a much better team this season, competing for the division/playoffs, this win could end up looking much better later on.  They certainly brought their A game yesterday.

They won't

Here's one thing that killed me yesterday.

Vick, Rodgers, Mcnabb, Josh Allen... you name it... When the scramble, they keep thier eyes down field and usually find guys for huge chunks/Touchdowns.

Hurts didnt do that once. Thats how you crush a team on a blitz. Break the pocket, "jailbreak routes" and hang 50-60 yard gain on them. Hurts didnt do it once

Yep.  Scramble drill used to be come back to the QB. Russell Wilson's WRs break down field instead and he throws up bombs on the run.

That would make Jalen look incredible.  He would actually throw farther than 12 yards away,  he would have momentum from running to get the ball farther down field,  and he might throw a bunch more TDs and more yards.

But he doesn't even bother looking.  I'm not sure what our WRs do,  but that should be something that the coaches demand from them.

I was genuinely surprised (and disappointed) by their utilization of Hurts in this game.  Against a powder puff team, I really expected them to attempt to showcase all the things he *presumably* worked on in the offseason.  Sit in the pocket, push the ball downfield, look to read #2 (Smith/Goedert), don't try to force a QB scramble in every critical situation simply because that's all you are confident in.

Instead, they leaned into that style of play and offense as hard as any game from last year.  The result was something frenetic that worked (against Detroit) but was merely something out of a good game from 2021...zero change or development.  As the year wears on against more difficult teams, I think they are only going to bury themselves deeper into that comfort zone of what works for this offense.

The crystal ball is here.  This is how it's going to roll.  Some weeks, this offense will work the way it did against Detroit.  Others, it's going to be a mess.  But there's no change coming behind door 3.  This is what it is.  And we are going to be having this same debate about what to do with the QB situation in January.  What you've seen in the past, what we saw yesterday...that's what we are going to get.  So debate over whether or not that is good enough.  Because it's not changing into a different look or scheme.

Week 1 all my board bets looking good.

Brown 10 catches, I think he has not trouble getting to 100 catches in 2 years @Bacarty2

Saints win @4for4EaglesNest

Dean did not do anything, let alone anything to get into the DROY conversation @TorontoEagle

I’m confused on your Bacarty bet. Which of you two says he will NOT get 100 catches over two seasons?

Wideouts are probably taught after three seconds, prepare to block down field

If the ball isn't out in under 3 seconds, they turn into blockers. Which is what they should do with this guy taking snaps.

mike has Brown getting over 100 receptions combined, this year and next.

I said this yesterday in the game day thread. There were times when he was running to his right or left and he was literally looking at the sideline. Like hes looking at his teammates on the bench for advice lol. Didnt even bother to look downfield for his WRs coming back to him or trying to get open deep. It was clear as day I could see it happening during the play and yelled at him through the TV. He didnt hear me smh...

I said he wouldnt get to 100 catches. I figured one of the 2(Smith or Brown) would be the odd man out and not see a lot of attention.

Smith won't have too many more of these kinda games before crap goes down. There is no way in hell he is okay with it

All of this equals to 9-8 or 10-17, possible WC and pick 16-18 in the draft.  If they give Hurts a new contract we're back to the middle of the pack decline of AR/McNabb teams.

So going into next week it looks as though the Vikings should win easily based on week 1 performances but I think the Eagles squeak one out.

The Vikes are riding high convincingly beating a division rival, the Eagles won but did not play well, Primetime home opener, expect the DLine to be better, more experienced kicker.

We’ll see but I think the Birds get it done and their poor performance yesterday is what they need to light a fire under them.

Cousins is 8-17 in Prime Time, and 1-9 on Monday nights.

So naturally he'll crush us.

Yep, he showed visible frustration last year...and that was without Brown here.
