September 20, 20222 yr Let me see if I'm doing this right. I'm so upset about last night's game. Here's what bothers me most (and these go to eleven): 1) Our return game sucks. Quez Watkins is an abomination on kick returns. Britain Covey sucks. He's another Reno Mahe. 2) Jalen Hurts only threw one touchdown pass. And the guy was wide open. Easy throw. He still hasn't demonstrated the ability to finely throw a pass into the endzone. All he can do in goal line situations is run. 3) We got almost no contribution from our draft picks. Jordan Davis only played a little bit and never sniffed the quarterback. Cam Jurgens never saw the field. Nakobe Dean and Kyron Johnson only play on special teams. Grant Calcaterra doesn't even dress. Fire Howie. 4) The first play of the game. It was obvious to everyone that since DeVonta Smith didn't catch a ball last week, the Eagles were going to open up with a first down throw to him. The Vikings could easily have been in position to pick it off. That was really dangerous. Nick Sirianni has to be smarter than that. 5) The offense fell asleep in the second half and didn't score any points. If not for the defensive interceptions, we easily could have lost. 6) The blocked field goal. Terrible blocking. And Jake Elliott has to make a better tackle attempt than that! 7) The stupid interception. Bad throw from Hurts. Bad job of catching the ball by Kenny Gainwell (who in case you didn't notice it sucks now). Bad decision to not run out the clock instead of throwing the ball into traffic like that. 8) All the offensive penalties! Are our players even coached? Maybe if we hadn't taken two days off this past week, we could have been better prepared. 9) Our heralded receivers have zero touchdown catches after two weeks. We gotta do something about that. Fire Howie. 10) No pass rush. We got lucky that Cousins was having a terrible night. 11) The Eagles still haven't beaten a team with a winning record. Right now the Vikings (and Lions) are only .500. We have to do better than that.

Bonus winners: @Aerolithe_Lion Cousins less than 100 yards passing at halftime @BigEFly Sweat sack @Next_Up Cousins throws 2+ picks @Swoop Hurts turnover 2 weeks in a row with the bonus, Yippee!

September 20, 20222 yr I wonder what Justin Jefferson was planning for his "can't miss post game press conference if they win". Goes back to my point about them smelling themselves too much. If you are planning for something after a win instead of preparing for a win, you probably aren't winning. Probably had something to do with Reagor and how badly we treated him.

If you can force Hurts to throw into coverage thats probably the way to go, but they went too Gannon with it and for waaay too long We might see teams ping ponging back and forth between blitzing and trying to play coverage Needless to say AJ Brown is making a huge impact I think they did play some man but Steichen did an excellent job with some of the play calls to beat it.

September 20, 20222 yr Some thoughts on the ineligible lineman downfield penalties. On the first one, that is 100 percent on Dickerson. It is 3rd and 8, and the Eagles are running four vertical routes to get the corners/safeties deep enough that they can't rally to the ball. Hurts is dropping like he's going to heave it, and his eyes are down the field. Dickerson has to know that it isn't a fast-developing play. Kelce and Seumalo played it perfectly. It's not designed to be a quick throw. Gainwell fakes to the outside and then comes back to the middle, leading the linebacker to the block by the lineman. Anyone saying Hurts should have gotten rid of the ball quicker is simply dead wrong. If he throws it right away, the linebacker has an easy play because the blockers aren't anywhere near him, and he is closing in on Gainwell. But the play design is perfect because the route leads the linebacker right into Seumalo. Plus, the four vertical routes leave a gaping hole in the middle of the field. Gainwell might have scored on that play but he tripped. The second one is another bad play by Dickerson. Mailata and Kelce had the timing down perfectly. Dickerson has to get better at developing a feel for that play. Hurts has to fake the handoff to move the linebackers, and Dickerson has to know the ball isn't coming out right away. Just a bad play by him. It was clearly a wide receiver screen all the way, but if you don't fake the handoff, the linebacker is going to have an easy play. The third one on Suemalo just seemed to be bad luck because the only reason he went downfield was because he missed his block, and his momentum carried him too far past the line of scrimmage. This was an rpo and Hurts did a good job of reading the defensive end, who was the key on the play. If he runs at Hurts, Hurts hands off. If he plays the run, Hurts throws to Goedert. Since he took the rb, Hurts had an easy throw. If Seumalo makes his block, he stays within a yard of the LOS. One other note on the last play, Smith is getting really good at rubbing defenders on routes like that without committing OPI. He does that on this play, basically dancing around the corner and making him stop without touching him. He did the same thing later in the game and got flagged, but the call was clearly bs. That is something to love about Smith. You can tell he worked on that a lot during the offseason to figure out how to do a pick without contacting the db.
September 20, 20222 yr Just now, downundermike said: That's the one. I don't think the hit impacted the throw, ball was already gone. pressure for sure. which was the original premise. Whether or not the hit affected it is questionable. Looked in time for the follow through. If nothing else, it rushed his decision to throw to Slay while he undercut the route.
September 20, 20222 yr 45 minutes ago, NCiggles said: Cam played behind terrible offensive lines. He was routinely taking contact early in runs and fighting through it. Hurts has very good protection and blocking week in and week out on both running and passing plays. I am not against using him in the running game but I do think Hurts needs to not keep the ball very often on QB run option plays. He also needs to protect himself better than he has so far this season. The end result may be the same because bodies just can't take that type of punishment week in and week out but I don't think the comparison with Cam is apples to apples. I don't disagree, but the late shots on a sliding QB is what I am referring to. Hurts got jumped on a bunch after sliding last week.

I want my cut lol. The closer it got to the game the more I kept thinking that the Vikings were gonna come in overconfident and cocky due to that packers win, and the Eagles defense hearing for an entire week about how bad they were and going to come out and finish the game unlike last week. I wish I would’ve change my prediction with you because I had a feeling from that morning all the way to the afternoon that that was very possible. Then the whole Jefferson thing really made me think that more. almost got the smith prediction. Just 2 yards away. I knew they were going to actively look for him. When they started talking in pressers last week i figured he’d have a good game.
