Official Philadelphia Phillies Thread - Still can't hit for crap

If they hope Painter will take that spot by the end of the year, it doesn’t really make much sense to invest in a 5th starter for 3 months.  Might as well let Walker compete with whatever other random arms they have in spring training.

F that. Walker has one of the worst statistical seasons of any starting pitcher in Phillies history. I much rather just let Abel be the 5th starter until painter is ready at end of June or July. At least with Abel you might get something out of your once prized prospect. You aren’t fixing Walker. His velocity has been dropping since his first year here and progressively getting worse.

heck bring turnbull back or someone like him for dirt cheap and just hope he holds up for 3 months.

With how many crap pitchers we’ve brought up I’m surprised he hasn’t gotten at least a call up for the bullpen

Juan Soto is never leaving the Yankees. we can forget about that now after that Cleveland series. Phillies are doomed

I’d really gage where the Astros are with Kyle Tucker. Tbh he plays OF and is a bat we need. Hes a FA at the end of 2025 so chance the Astros lose him and he’s coming off an injury year (his numbers are still really good considering he played 78 games).

Maybe McGarry and Abel could be the future of the bullpen.

If you are sympathetic to the Mets, that will change next season when their obnoxious fans remind us a thousand times about how they beat us in the playoffs.

The Guardians have the second-longest championship drought in the four major leagues (only the Arizona Cardinals have gone longer since a title, if I remember correctly), and the Yankees have a substantial drought compared to historic success (and a Yankees championship would shut up obnoxious Red Sox fans).  So it is clear to me that either American League team, but especially the Guardians, deserve Phillies fans' support or sympathy.

yeah but I live in California now so that's far less of an impact for me. Last week I saw a guy wearing a Mets hat, so I went up to him and said "you're a Mets fan?" He replied, "No, I'm a (SF) Giants fan. I just don't want to see the Dodgers win." In 28 years of living in California, that's the first guy I can ever remember seeing wearing Mets gear.

We’ve won 2 in 141 years. So on average 70.5 years. So might not be til 2079 until we win another.

Cora gets too cute for himself nowadays, like how Andy Reid used to outsmart himself.

Looks a little bit better than using Walker as an option for starting pitcher number 5 lol - Only problem is going to be pitch count for the year....and unless Painter can bat and NOT swing at pitches heading towards the dugout....won't help!

I said this a couple months back i think he starts the year in the minors and mid-June to beginning. July he gets called up so essentially have him for July, August and September on his inning count. Seems to be what a lot of beat writers believe too

Boone should really get a ton of heat. First Cortes hasn’t pitched in a month. Betts is 0-5 vs. cortes in his career. And freeman with the bases loaded has been unreal the last two years

Judge has a really, really big October monkey on his back.

I could see Harper signing an "extension" that is deferred like Ohtani's deal to free up payroll for a Soto deal.

Boras needs to hit a home run with this deal, and I think you can leverage Harper's contract to get it done.
