This is why I said some of the pitching problems that we have aren’t really correlated to all the pitchers. Their defense is bad and analytically the only ones that are good/solid for their positions are JT, Stott and marsh when he plays LF.
May 24May 24 Solid start for painter. Got 6.1 IP and 2 ERs. Really it could’ve been either 1 or 0 with better defense in LF and at 3b.

Because you don’t have a right handed hitter to platoon with marsh going into the season and just thought kemp was gonna be good, you had a play Sosa in left field when a left hander is on the mound. So ineptitude of Sosa in LF is not his fault. That is your roster construction to have to force him to play LF because he’s one of your better right handed hitters is a problem. Add on the Phillies being pussi3s about firing long. It’s obvious he can’t fix their problems. Unlikely anyone can but at least try someone new

May 24May 24 why I said firing topper was a short-term solution to a bigger problem. The bigger problem is Dombrowski has been a bad general manager at fixing the problems he created. And Kevin Long is bad at his job and can’t fix the issues. Neither is Mattingly. It’s why I said I’ve rather seen cothan get the interim managerial job.
