My question would be- how did having a stacked rotation work for the 2011 Phillies?

So their best move might just be to stack their rotation and hope to win 2-1.

Hit and runs, safety squeezes, even a suicide squeeze for a surprise here or there. Thats the only way I can see them winning anything. If its gonna be swing for the fences, then we all know how it will end.

I really just don’t think the market is going to have significant upgrades to the lineup and you are going to have to overpay for minimal upgrades. So the better path might be just stacking a rotation of skubal, Sanchez, wheeler and luzardo. Have painter be a BP arm and maybe wood too. That rotation and staff might be the best in baseball. Probably still lose due to the offense but i think it’s their only path to winning a WS with their offense

May 30May 30 Turner, Bohm, Stott, JT, Garcia all in the 200-220 range. As a team the Phils have the second lowest batting avg in MLB this year but somehow Kevin Long is untouchable. Not saying a hitting coach will magically fix the offense but at some point something has to change. Doesn't matter how good the rotation is if the offense is crap all year its just another wasted season and they'll be lucky to finish .500.

Doesn't matter how good the rotation is if the offense is crap all year its just another wasted season and they'll be lucky to finish .500.frankly they have too many holes in the lineup to fill at the deadline. Garcia, Crawford and Bohm need to be replaced. At least with Stott and relamuto they are better defenders for their positions (Stott has been better since the end of april hitting so can live with him) so can have them bottom of the lineup. The issue is even if they got a RH OF bat they still need to fix 2 other positions in the lineup. Add on need turner to actually start playing better. They also need a better bench than what they got. It’s why i said might be better off just stacking their rotation and bullpen and just hoping to win that way. Getting just one bat (if even available) is likely not fixing the overwhelming issue and with how little production from RH OF in all of mlb it’s unlikely you get a guy like that or don’t severely overpay to do so. Long deserved to be fired after the Mets NLDS series. He deserved it after the dodgers loss last year. This year they’ve collectively gotten worse. He really should be gone for multiple years now. The fact he still has a job and it’s gotten this bad is on Dave and the FO for not doing what should’ve been done 2 years ago.
