Not talked about enough for the second straight year schwarber HRs later in the season have not been at the rate we’ve seen in previous years. Last year he had a 17 game stretch where we had four home runs, but all four of those homers came in one game and the rest of the games he had zero. He currently has one home run in his last 18 games.

Schwarber falling off in August and September is not ideal.

Nice set up for the reverse jinx

Brilliant trade and line up

It’s nice to see Arraez actually cares and is playing hard. These bums could learn a thing or two from him.

That's fine. Let him continue his quest for a brand new contract all the way through the World Series. thumbsup

I wouldn’t put it past you, you could be right about Arraez wanting a nice payday

Your positivity almost always results in a negative outcome that's why lol

You are not wrong sir 🤣

I love ERA calculations, the Nats starting pitcher for today's ERA is gonna go up 3 points because of this outing lmao his ERA for this game would be 90 roll

Arraez with a .354 career average with runners in scoring position. Yeah, keep him in the cleanup spot. He may not hit a lot of homers, but he drives in runs other ways. That's all that matters.

I was going to ask why didn’t he lead off, but this makes sense. I still don’t get the infatuation with having Schwarber lead off.

One game doesn't prove anything, but it does at least demonstrate the importance of batting average for driving in runs. Analytics and moneyball proved that OBP was (at the time) underrated and changed everything. But the collapse of batting average (in this lineup and around the league) is still a noteworthy issue.

Runs don't get walked in very often. You still need bat to ball to drive them in. And a lineup full of low batting average hitters will leave fans constantly wringing their hands about stranding runners. HR's are memorable and OBP is all the rage, but batting average is what mitigates stranding runners.

Arraez - Turner - Harper - Schwarber feels the most natural......but Arraez hitting cleanup makes a lot of sense considering he is, by far, the most likely guy in the lineup to get a hit when he is at the plate.

If he can drag this sorry team to World Series title, sign him for 100 years, 1 billion - it ain't gonna happen lol

I'm already annoyed by his theatrics at the plate every time he fouls a pitch off lol... A world series would lessen that annoyance lmao

Honestly this team needs a little juice - right now we just get the same old sad faces up there all the time. They all act like they hate playing every day.

True, it was refreshing seeing something different at the plate but, it gave me juan soto vibes and I absolutely hate that cocky mo fo. I'll get used to it eventually lol

The only potential issue with arraez batting 4th is in the playoffs, then you are definitely facing a LHP in big spots. Granted it’s likely happening anyway. It’s not an issue for Arraez himself. He is going to hit. It’s an issue that Harper and Turner as don’t hit LHP well. Turner has the lowest OPS of a regular vs. LHP at .610 and OBP of .293 (.216 avg). Harper has a .650 OPS and a .328 OBP (.204 avg). OBP is solid but he has also gotten worse over the season against LHP. So Turner doesn’t get on base and Harper as the season has gone on has been less against LHP. Schwarber hits LHP well and incredible OBP. However you’d almost rather schwarber be up after arraez in a playoff spot as a better chance to hit a HR with someone on rather than it be a solo shot atop of the order. Especially with arraez ability to get on base it makes more sense. Then again you have no protection for Harper if you move arraez to leadoff which is the same problem you had prior to this trade as marsh and Bohm aren’t good enough

Then again if Turner hits LHP like he should and they got a RH bat behind Harper that hit LHP it makes this whole point moot as teams would have to pick their poison in bringing in a LHp or RHP.
