I get where you’re coming from but also we don’t have a bullpen that can keep runs off the board so Mattingly is in quite the pickle. Wouldn’t be surprised if he has a bit of an alcohol problem after his season here. I don’t want him coming back but the bullpen is a disaster and unreliable

Tbh you can’t just leave painter out there. You saw his mechanics and his command were gone after the walk. After the double you definitely can’t leave them out there with arguably the second best hitter on the Cardinals who’s the left hander. The bullpen stinks, but you saw he had lost it. Even if Rangel sucks he’s a fresh arm

Yes I agree but I get why Mattingly does what he does. It’s the worst of both worlds. He wants Painter to figure it out and wants the bullpen to try and make the least amount of outs. This is just my guess. He waits until it implodes to make the switch. Topper 2.0
