His stuff really plays well as a reliever in the playoffs. He’s eventually a starter in the rotation. But right now he can just let it rip for 2 innings cause he doesn’t have to go 6-7

I’m pretty positive their plan yesterday was painter for the 9th against the bottom of the order and 7-8 with Duran facing the best part of the Braves lineup.

So tomorrow you got nola starting (better Fing start Stubbs), wheeler for probably 2-3 innings and Duran.

IF that was the plan does Painter still pitch tonight for 3 innings as well? You can’t trust Mattingly to put Painter in the 9th, he was going to kill Duran and then he wouldn’t been able to pitch the rest of the series. It just shows how bad this team is when you throw all your marbles in game 1 of the wild card round. What’s next after that? Sugart? Kill me now

I’m doubting painters pitches back to back days. Probably would’ve had some sort of mix of banks, McFarlane and Bowlan

might have been his last at bat as a Phillie. He had a groin issue before and I’m guessing it’s not good after his at bat. Might see Otto kemp added to the roster

Exactly and you still lose the game with them. Banks has been awful all year, Bowlan terrible down the stretch and McFarlane is giving up runs everytime he’s out there as of late. It’s just hard this year with who we have. Gonna need our offense to come alive in a major way to give some room for these guys to give up runs but still have a comfortable lead and we know that’s never going to happen either especially against good pitching

Bowlan’s issue is that they overused him all year. Banks had been. Better of late but he’s not ideal. McFarlane they should’ve had him up in June to give him more time to acclimate.

We just need a better president of baseball operations to plug in the right guys to give us a chance with a more complete roster. They don’t all have to be incredible but actually be able to play and make a difference. Dave made trades and the guys aren’t even on the roster this series I mean come on. How many more chances does this guy get?

I said he should’ve been gone after last season. People wanted Thomson but frankly Thomson is a better manager than Don and bigger culprit has always been Dave. He’s wasted money and resources. This team should be significantly better

He’s been awful as a manager prior. Phillies knew this. Frankly it feels like he got it cause his son and mlb tends to hire bench coach as interim. It should’ve been Cotham. Been here 6 years and helped build the staff. Add on he knows the rotation and BP better than anyone so he’d know how to utilize it better
