Gonna be like Ward or canha. At least they are upgrades over the crap that was Castro last deadline

And how about center?

They’ll say we have Rojas in there for defense. But if Stott is going to be this bad then that is 2 holes in your lineup. I’d add the marsh platoon only works is completely healthy and can hit RHP. Thomson said he’s dealing with an elbow injury. Hopefully that injury heals but i think you are taking a risk just banking on that it doesn’t bother him the rest of the year. If it bothers him for the rest of the year and that’s why he’s been this bad in July (outside of dodgers series) that platoon doesn’t work as marsh essentially can’t live up to his side of the platoon. This is why I’d just go get an everyday OF and solve the problem of one of the OF positions not try to solve it with two players. Then have Marsh and Rojas platoon in CF (granted marsh in CF isn’t his strongest fielding position)

that said I kind of think The Dodgers are going to add a big-time bat and a Frontline pitcher. If the Dodgers get someone like Randy Arozerena and you put him in that lineup of a Mookie Betts and Max muncy back that is a ridiculously deep lineup. Essentially have betts, ohtani, freeman, will smith, arozerrna, muncy and Hernandez. Then you add a Frontline starter if everybody is healthy in that rotation, that is a pretty damn good rotation. You would have glasnow, whoever you traded for, Yamamoto, kershaw. Kershaw might be replaced with stone who’s been good for them. We can say well the Dodgers always choke, but I think just banking on they are going to choke is probably a bad plan to go in with.

Only been 6 games but it’s ugly

You read several stories like this every year about idiots punching stuff and breaking their hand/fingers.  So stupid

I know it’s not his pitching hand but he’s likely out a month. Wonder if this persuades the A’s to keep him and look to deal him in the offseason. Frankly i think we get someone like finnegan and lane thomas. I’m not enthusiastic about Thomas because of the elbow issue with marsh. I think they need an everyday OF. I’d go in on arozerena. He’s killed it in the playoffs.

Welp

Mariners gave up their 12th and 24th best prospect according to mlb.com. Thats ridiculous if we didn’t try to beat that. Mariners have a top ranked farm system but smith is a fringe tier 2 prospect. And Hopkins is 3/4. I’m guessing the player to be named later is gonna be a good prospect otherwise i can’t imagine someone didn’t beat that offer

Is it me...or do the Phillies wait until the last second every year?  Maybe it's just revisionist history and just feels that way?  Why wait so long, we knew we need RH Outfield help for months......I know you need two to tango (meaning another team) but come on already!

typical phillies management, i dont want to give nothing up because prospects are more important than championships and you know why the phillies will never a championship because the management has no balls.

pat gillick was the only one that had any and that's why we won the world series, ruben was a P### and so is dave. miss pat gillick.

Just saying amaro gave up more high end prospects than gillick did at the trade deadline. Amaro made trade deadline moves for Lee, pence and oswalt. Amaro might have failed after 2011 to trade guys off sooner after the run was over and not a good job rebuilding the farm system after dealing prospects. But really he went all in to give the Phillies chances to win a WS from 2009-2011. The big move he made during that time which was questionable was dealing Lee when acquiring halladay. He should’ve just kept Lee and if he walked in FA the next offseason so be it. He came back to Philly so was a good chance he’d have stayed and youd have gotten 2 prime years of halladay, Lee, Hamels and Oswalt

Package for Arozarena was pretty light. Phillies could have matched without giving up Painter, Miller or Crawford. We’ll see what DD does, but it sure looks like he Fed this one up.

Tbh our deadline under Dombrowski have been largely moves to sure up the 5th spot, a reliever, utility fielder and marsh who they expected to fix to become an everyday CF and he’s a platoon player.

2021:

Gibson, crouse and Kennedy for Spencer Howard, Kevin Gowdy, and Josh Gessner.

Freddy galvis for cash considerations

2022:

Noah Syndergaard for moniak and Jadiel Sanchez

marsh for Logan O’hoppe

Sosa for Jojo Romero (Romero has become a really good reliever)

Dave Robertson for Ben brown

2023:

lorenzen for Hao-Yu Lee

rodolfo Castro for Bailey falter

A lot of "meh” for sure. Time for DD to ish or get off the pot.
