But what I’m saying is it’s starting to be more alarming that you’re close to 50 games which is over a quarter of the season that you’ve been this. And it’s not all of the injuries as the reason. I get it but the injuries do count for something and they've still been over .500 in that stretch so it isn't all bad. We will find out soon enough.

I think people are making the injuries out as this is the only reason why they haven’t been consistent. Just when Kyle Schwarber, Harper and realmuto were out they went 5-4. I give them credit for that. And for most of those games, it didn’t look like they were sleepwalking in those games. It looked like they just had a talent deficiency when they lost. But since London with Harper, Schwarber, Turner and everybody back, but Jt and getting the #6 best production out of their catchers during that time, they’ve been 500. Nobody in the bullpen is hurt. And they’ve been bad since about that london series. If you want to say they’re starting pitching has injuries then OK. However, walker I don’t think is injured. He just sucks. I think Rangers tired. That’s not an injury to me. he got overworked to point where he’s never gotten to at this point in the season. Wheeler might legitimately have a back issue. We don’t know we haven’t seen him pitch until tonight. two examples I’ll bring up where I don’t think it’s just injuries. Saturday night at Pittsburgh. They had bad approaches at the plate and they didn’t grind out at bats. I would say the same thing last night against the twins. After the first inning, it was a lot of bad at bats and no grinding by our offense. And both of those games they were fully healthy. at some point it’s not just injuries. They had this problem at times last year like this and caught up to them in the postseason. That’s why it’s concerning.
July 23, 20241 yr i will the lay out my major concern. I actually think the bullpen is going to be fine. I think they’ll get Alvarado back to somewhere close to where he has been. And I think they’re gonna add a bullpen arm that makes a difference. The starting rotation only scares me if suarez can’t figure this out before the end of year. Because he’s been a major part of their playoff success. The thing that scares me the most with this team is their offense. They have the same problems they had at the end of last year and things we talked about all last year. Castellanos is not consistent. He gets hot and then very cold. His chase rate still is awful. Brandon Marsh cannot hit left-handed pitching. That hasn’t changed. It’s why he was platooning last year and this year. Rojas is not as good enough hitter to be here every day centerfielder. He just is not. And now we got to add on Bryson stott might just be what he is this year because he’s been pretty much bad most of the year. Realmuto coming off his knee injury is also somewhat concerning cause we are hoping he comes back the same offensively at his age and position. To me they need a big time offensive addition. Not sure just getting a platoon outfielder is enough

The sky is not falling. Let's get thru this 22 game stretch and see where we are. If we go 5-17 then sure time to get worried. My single specific concern is with Ranger. I'd rather go ahead and sit him down for two or weeks now rather than keep putting him out there. Stott will find his way thru this and in the meantime we have Sosa to help. The others struggling are in normal slumps that almost every player goes thru each year. How dare you not panic like most of my friends are. It’s irrational to not have huge sways of emotion throughout the season. Y’know, moments of euphoria followed soon after by moments of despair. That’s how normal folks think.
July 23, 20241 yr Kind of feels like they don’t know if they trust Suarez or Sanchez for the rest of the season (less Sanchez but he’s never pitched this many innings and he’s also not been nearly as good on the road). I’d say some concern with wheeler unless his back is worse than they are letting on. Flaherty would basically be a rental as he’s a FA at the end of the year

July 23, 20241 yr I give credit to the twins. That was a 23 pitch first thing for wheeler. They grinded and battled in those at bats.

July 24, 20241 yr That entire inning by the Phillies was the definition of chase rate. 13 pitches that would’ve been outside the strike zone. Phillies swung at 7 of them.
July 24, 20241 yr Haven’t scored a run in 13 consecutive innings. Not much better but they have 2 hits over that time. finally get another hit and Rojas gets picked off. Hadn’t had a base running blunder in a while and Turner gets thrown out. 2 in one inning. Impressive.

July 24, 20241 yr We did it. We scored a run for the first time in 17 innings. Bust out the champagne!!! thank you Castellanos.

The irony of all this is that very few of the folks who post here were alive when Dick (nee Richie) Allen was the Phillies star player.
