It should’ve been a 5 year contract or let him walk. The last 3 years of that deal are likely a $25 anchor. It’s why I’d think about dealing him at the deadline if painter, Sanchez and luzardo are going well. Use the money you save to extend luzardo and just use Seth Johnson as your 5th in 2026

But luzardo is going to need a massive extension if he pitches this well. Technically wheeler at the end of 2026 has 1 year left so I’m guessing they view luzardo as wheeler’s replacement
