April 5, 20251 yr I legit thought he missed the tag. Throw was there but I thought Turner missed him. I’m shocked they overturned it.

Frankly harder to deal Crawford if Marsh and Rojas aren’t capable to take one of the outfield spots. I’m assuming Tucker is someone they’d go in on in the offseason as Rosenthal keeps tying them to him
April 5, 20251 yr The problem with bullpen guys now is they all have like 2 pitches - a 100mph fastball and some kind of crappy cutter/slider. And none of them can throw consistently in the zone.
April 5, 20251 yr If Walker keeps pitching well Ranger could go to the pen. Marsh sucks, though. Bring up the kid. How much worse could he be?

They won’t bring up Crawford until he has some time in triple A and til he can’t accrue a full season so they basically get an extra year
April 5, 20251 yr Great start to the season. One thing though… Maybe I’m too old school. This has fallen out of favor, so I assume there are some convincing analytics that suggest not to do it. I don’t like having a "highest leverage guy,” "high leverage guy,” and a bunch of fluff. I think relievers benefit from a defined role. I love having a guy that expects to own the 8th inning, a guy that expects to close leads in the 9th. Have your middle relief guys that expect to give you an inning in the middle of the game. Know your role, embrace it, own it.
April 5, 20251 yr Also…I have questions about Ranger Suarez. If feels like everyone…fans, media, even coaches are constantly projecting him at the back of the rotation and into the bullpen. I understand that he is not a model of reliable health and that his stuff is not necessarily electric. But this is a guy with a career 3.42 ERA who was an all star last year. He constantly saves his best for the playoffs, where he has an absurd 1.43 ERA and 1.035 WHIP in 8 starts and always demonstrates flawless composure. Shouldn’t he be set it and forget it in the middle of the rotation when healthy?

They are going to take their time with him it’s a long season

April 5, 20251 yr As currently constructed, I’d put Ranger in the pen, and then bring up Painter in June to offset Walker in the rotation. The bullpen is just too thin of depth right now. Romano, while early, looks incredibly shaky.

However i see painter coming to the team in July so they can maximize his innings. In a playoff scenario you don’t need Ranger as the starter as you have wheeler, Sanchez, luzardo and nola. Can use him if someone gets into trouble early or at the back of the bullpen as your LHP. I still think he’s a starter til painter comes up.
