Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

People in this blog trying to bend over backwards these past two weeks to try to devalue this Super Bowl and act like it doesn't mean as much.  Can't say I'm surprised.

Didn't you devalue the first Super Bowl so far that you got banned for celebrating an injury to the QB who won it ??

While it will be awesome to win #2, 52 will always be the most important Super Bowl in Eagles history.

LII will always mean a lot because it was the first. This one still means a great deal to me because I’d really like to be in the group of teams with multiple Lombardis, and I really don’t want to lose to Reid in this game. If he gets his revenge during the regular season next year, so be it, but I really want this one.

In your case? Absolutely.

lol not one single poster has "devalued” this Super Bowl. Just a stupid troll trying to get attention

Agreed.  RTK is just upset because he did not want Nick Foles to win, and he wants Jalen's to mean more for personal reasons.  After being owned on so many bad takes, he finally threw something at the wall that stuck.

I still don't understand the single player mentality, this is about the Philadelphia Eagles.  While I was confident Foles could close the deal, it was not about him, it was about the team getting to the promised land.  This is not about Jalen Hurts, this is about the Philadelphia Eagles winning #2, which will put us in the group of 15 teams with Multiple Super Bowls.

Then we can work on winning another and getting into the group of 10 teams with at least 3.

Sometimes it’s fun to make up things to complain about lol.

If Brandon Graham does come back next year, he needs to be healthy for 10 games and he becomes the most tenured eagle in team history

Only issue with bringing Graham back, is you are adding money to the already dead cap with void years in place.

You can't restructure his deal as he has minimal base salary, and he has a large salary guarantee for 2024/2025 that kicks in the 2nd day of the league year.

To make that go away, he has to be signed to a new contract, increasing his cap number of 9.6 million for 2023, and adding additional void money beyond 2023.

I think his wife said in an interview after the title game he was probably done

You have to replace his roster spot anyway, so the total cap hit for that DE#1 spot is going up whether it’s a cheap free agent, or draft pick.

But By bringing back Brandon Graham, you can potentially reduce his overall 2023 cap hit by preventing accelerated prorations. His cap number in 2023 at 9m$ is bogus, that’s only his 2023 salary, signing bonus proration for that year, and previous restructure proration for that year. It’s only 9m if he stays on the roster. But his contract is automatically voided as you said, making his cap number 18m$ with accelerated prorations from all future years.

They can agree to cancel the void before it happens, and rip up his 2023 salary with a new one. Let’s say that’s 1 year, 6 million with incentives. His 2023 cap hit would be 18m$ if we voided his deal and he left, or 12.5m$ if we brought him back (2.5 of the 9 was bogus 2023 salary), and then 2024 is a 10m$ dead cap in the event he doesn’t come back again

she said it could be his last with Philadelphia, meaning if the money isn’t right he could be somewhere else. He said he has no plans to retire

@LeanMeanGM

Eagles 29, Chiefs 27

I don't agree with the posters on here who see this as an easy victory.  It's a good matchup stylistically because of a great Eagles pass rush against a QB who holds the ball a lot, but KC is a 14-win team just like the Eagles are.  They will move the ball offensively -- they averaged 4.7 ypc over the season, and they will use the screen game to negate some of the pass rush.  They threw 111 passes to the RBs this season, and I wouldn't be surprised to see the Chiefs throw at least 10 screen passes on Sunday.  A lot will depend on how well the Eagles defend them.  Reid has perfected getting the ball to Travis Kelce, even when everyone knows they try to get the ball to Kelce as much as possible.  They've got good weapons and a great offensive coordinator for game planning (No, I don't mean Bieniemy)

The game will hinge on a few things.  1) How well does the Chiefs OL protect Mahomes? They only allowed 26 sacks this season.  2)  How well do the Eagles stick with the run game?  The Chiefs best chance is for the Eagles to be one-dimensional on offense.  3) How much can Hurts/Smith/AJ Brown take advantage of the Chiefs young secondary?  A lot of rookies back there and Smith and Brown should feast if they can get 1-on-1 matchups.

The defense and OL has been doing the heavy lifting to get the Eagles to the Super Bowl.  Spagnolo will likely do everything he can to sell out to limit the run and force Hurts to beat them with his arm.  He needs to do it -- he has all the weapons he needs and will have ample opportunities to hit big plays,

Bonus(es) -- Hurts wins MVP, but AJ Brown makes the big play of the game.  Eagles score 3 rushing TDs.

There was also the big bad Tom Brady factor.  Outside of Eli Manning, TB was invincible in the SB.  Beating TB, BB and the vaunted Patriots was a huge obstable to overcome too.

Yes, Mahomes is great and the AR connection is a good story but this Chiefs team shoudln't be feared by any means.  The Eagles have the better team.  They should win and I hope Hurts has his best game of his career so he can finally let loose, relax and enjoy the victory with his teammates.

Agree.  I caught myself thinking about Mahomes doing a Mahomes and worrying about it; a bit like Brady for SB52. I respect the Chiefs, but I ain't gonna bow down to them either.

The coaches and players have worked hard all year for this moment; the Eagles aren't lucky to be here.  They annihilated the NFC on the way.

His 2023 cap hit will not be lowered.

The 8.163 signing bonus pro ration is not going away.  You can replace his 1.5 million base, but signing him to a new deal will have a base salary, and probably a new signing bonus, thus raising his overall cap hit.

And with a new deal, Howie will give him a signing bonus and spread it out, so on top of raising his cap hit this year, you are also adding to the dead cap void years when he retires.

With a new contract, all they can do is erase the guarantees that kick in the 2nd day of the league year.

I wish I trusted Gannon to have a good gameplan on Sunday. Then I'd have Eagles by 10.

:offtopic: Movies, comedies, etc...

Throwing this out there...Moby Dick, 1956.

Gregory Peck was exactly the obsessed Captain, Basehart the perfect foil. Queegeeg, all that. Starbuck, too.

In the days before CGI, very well done. Melville's vision brought to screen with integrity.

" He did not feel the wind, nor smell the salt in the air, he simply stood at the rail, looking at the horizon..."

"Queegeeg, I absolutely forbid you to die,,,"

"Speak not to me of blasphemy, I'd strike the Sun if it insulted me.." " The White whale tasks me, he heaps me..."

Melville had some chops. No sh!t. They didn't have to write a screenplay, just use Melville's manuscript. Faithfully executed.

Makes ESP and his ilk look like 5yr olds with a keyboard and nothing to say. Rich History vs today's Bedpan drivel. Empty the bowl.

It's important to remember the finer things, lest we lose sight of the bigger picture, the Art....

Yeah but.... where are the explosions?!

Ironically, my wife caught me watching Indiana Jones and the Lost Ark... and her comment was... "hmm... they used stunts rather than special effects, and this movie actually really holds up well."   Which is actually really true, until the very end... its all stunts and acting.   Great piece of cinema.

With no Real evidence whatsoever, It just seems to me the "Media" is slobbering all over Kansas City.

"On the cusp of a Dynasty", "Next Patriots Profile"... set up for years to come, Blah blah blah....

I think "they" have it backwards. WE are the team to beat. Nose to nose, I'll take the Eagles all day.

Appearances notwithstanding, I think KC knows they are about to run into a Buzzsaw, and they are nervous about it.

Two things jump out right away. Our D Line wrecks gameplans. We can reduce them to Travis and a broken Helaire...

Our offense will kill them on the ground, worst case for Spags. . Grind and pound destroys a defenses' moral. We do that very well. Our Big Uglies love to tee off, Nick will turn em loose. Kelce 30 yards downfield blowing up a Safety...Lane's pancakes...

Everybody ( Talking Heads ) putting their take out there, most seem to have it close but KC as inevitable. Destiny, etc. Sorry, No.

52 was a crapshoot, anybody's game til 00:00, not this time. We have the hammer, Chiefs are in our way.

The narrative about Philly will change. WE are the Team to try to beat. No need for finesse...

Power football is back.

Take a look at the prorations left on his deal, you’re missing something.

8.1m 2023

5.6m 2024

3.2 2025

1.2m 2026

Those are monies already paid to Brandon in signing bonuses and restructures that act like signing bonuses for cap purposes. If Brandon leaves the team as you say on a voided deal, all of those accelerate. It can’t be only 9m, we cannot get out of those. He will be an 18m$ cap charge in 2023 if he leaves.

Youre confusing it with his cap number if he stays, which would be 9m. But that’s a bogus number because the contract automatically voids. Let me know if this makes sense, and I can show you how bringing him back can reduce the DE#1 cap number

Eagles who can win their second title on Sunday.  Kind of strange that only 5 years later, only 6 of 25 starters ( including ST ) will play in this game.

Jason Kelce

Lane Johnson

Brandon Graham

Fletcher Cox

Jake Elliott

Rick Lovato

Isaac Seumalo ( 10 snaps in 2017 )

Derek Barnett ( will not play in this Super Bowl )

Am I missing anyone ??

Lovato and Elliott.

Also, I believe Seumalo did play in the SB as an extra tight end/blocker.

Speilberg likes his Rube Goldberg death trap scenarios. Huge rolling balls, breakaway floors, 500 year old swinging discs that are still pristine...

Good cinema tho, agree.
