4) Finally (and this is not for you), I thought spamming the report log last night was a bold move to protest ***checks notes*** a user being removed because they were a primary reason the Mods had to constantly deal with the report log.

I’m not getting caught up in this mess but why the obsession with posters who are "gatekeepers”? Is that literally why we have mods?

Anyway, congrats on making it to Super Bowl eve everyone.

 

We're playing in the Super Bowl tomorrow. This is why we put up with awful 4-11-1 seasons, Carson Wentz drama, Howie drafting Reagor, etc.

Because the context of what you call "gatekeeping" matters.  Veejer was a real contributor to the football discussion which is what this special thread was and is all about.  4x4 contributed very little of that.  4x4 also was very abrasive even to posters who really were contributing while Veejer left most of that stuff to the actual idiots (far as I remember in any case).

Really Joe.  The 14 points in the second quarter came from an officiating error?  Could you men the first quarter?  Could say the same about the 49ers for the entire game. If the officials had acknowledged wire hit, the 49ers don’t get the good field position that got them their only score of the game. One of Lurie’s best moves was firing Banner.

Ignoring the mods, when they tell you to knock it off multiple times, is. Same thing that probably happened to bacarty. Anyone who remembers the old boards knows how much more strict they were back when the boards were still affiliated with the team. I've gotten warned once in 20+ years on these boards and it was for masking profanity back in like 2004. Something that happens pretty much daily now. They didn't let much go back then, but apparently more leeway now just means some people are more eager to test the boundaries.

I kept it all the way through the Phillies season.  when they lost the World Series, I thought about shaving it off. But the Eagles were doing so good that I couldn’t bring myself to do that. So now, if the Eagles win the Super Bowl, I don’t know exactly what to do. So the options are

I could never shave again.

I could wait until the Eagles lose their next playoff game sometime in the future before shaving.

I can shave it after the Sixers run .

Or I could just shave if they win Super Bowl. 

 

Stuck with it for life because next seasons.

Didn't you used to have like 8pts on the old boards? RTK was banned before also, so maybe he's skating on thin ice too for all we know. We don't need the mods to waste their time reassuring everyone they're not giving anyone favorable treatment. I'm sure they roll their eyes at RTK's posts just as much as anyone.

Odd comment.  There's no obsession.  

And no.  It's not at all why we have mods.  Mods don't tell idiots they aren't allowed to post in the blog.  But the blog used to be better than the rest of TATE. Part of it was the people contributing to the blog. Another big part was Veejer chasing idiots away. Ensuring the quality of posts in here. 

The blog was always self moderated. We followed our own rules- no religion, no politics. Debates were civil.  Rarely devolving in yo arguments. In some instances ghor and afan would go at it.  And then they'd move on. In my earlier days I'd go at it with people a lot more.  JR had me on ignore a few times back in the day. 

There was often a verbalized agreement to disagree at the end of a debate. And no one kept after the same argument making passive aggressive comments for months on end. And dumb people felt like they didn't belong in here because the level of discourse was so obviously above what they were capable of contributing to.  And veejer often let them know it too, if they're was any doubt.

That was waaaay long ago.  I pulled a Skippy/jsb/justwin and stuck up for the little guy,  who was being ganged up on in WU.

That's a way to lose a popularity contest with the mods back then who were good buddies with those WU posters. That was the beginning of everyone beginning to hate me around here. 

Those points so expired years and years ago, except for 2 that some mod put on there permanently somehow.  I think some people got stuck with points after one of the board upgrades.

4x4 might not be everyone’s cup of tea but almost no one had an issue with constantly engaging him for pages as well. 

The mods already told us he was the most reported poster on the boards, so obviously lots of people had issues with him. The blog is one thing, since most people know each other and have thicker skin, but if he was doing that same shtick in the rest of tate, he might've been playing with fire. Heck, for all we know, he might've had a few one night and started doing it in PMs with the mods, which is just asking for trouble.
