Let’s just say Skip’s tweet was very distasteful. Would it really be necessary to have 100,000 people drag him for it? Social media behavior is so weird to me.

It's an avalanche. Someone high profile talks about it, then some more high profile accounts, then famous NFL players start jumping on the pile, then the floodgates open for all the fans.

Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

@Sack that QB   Ever want to get a mature accurate take on most things social in sports, Whitlock is a good place to start.

I think some of his takes sometimes are a little kooky, but I think sometimes he has good takes on stuff too and is willing to stray from the mainstream narrative when many aren't. And he gets killed for it and gets called vile things, words I can't use on this message board.

I don't find many people in the sports world who are willing to stray from the mainstream talking points. There were some instances in the last couple years, which I won't name, but there was an incredible amount of outrage over a specific incident that resonated in the sports world, and it was something almost all of them were objectively wrong about, just flat out didn't know what they were talking about and Whitlock was one of the few who stood up and said as much.

I didn't study OSU's OTs in that game, but I don't think this draft class has an elite OT prospect. Nor do I think it has an elite CB prospect. The Eagles are sitting in a spot where the best players at their biggest positions of need would probably be reaches. In general, I am just not blown away by anyone in this draft out of the top 5. People said last year this draft was going to be a much stronger draft than 2022, but I think they were saying that mainly because last year's QB class was so weak, and everyone defines draft classes on QBs these days. And yes, there's no question this year's QB class is much much stronger, but excluding the QBs? I thought last year had a much stronger draft class. It as pretty loaded at CB, OT, DE, DT, LB, WR.

Unless the Eagles can get up for Carter or Anderson, I really think trading down is the best move for them, and I'm usually not a trade down guy. But for example, Ringo and Porter Jr. are regarded as the top two CBs in this class, and last year neither would have been one of the first 3 or 4 CBs taken. And the top 2 OTs in this class wouldn't have been one of the first 3 or 4 taken last year either.

I like the Christian Gonzalez kid from Oregon.  He's my CB 1 and I'm a PSU fan

I don't even think it was, but even if you were to assume the absolute worst about his tweet, which at worst is a poorly timed question, with no malice or ill intent whatsoever, the blowback for it was so incredibly disproportionate, and as I mentioned before, IMO, even worse than the worst iteration of what his tweet was, as people were using a tragedy to virtue signal.

Honestly I think the real reason it got as much negative attention as it did was because it was Skip Bayless.

It it was from Dan Patrick, I doubt the reaction would be the same - just my 2 cents

Never ever wanted to see this happen during a game.

They have to cancel this game.  It's only a matter of time before he is declared dead.  CPR for long is just terrible and not good.

Wow.  Just when I thought you couldn't be any more of a clueless dirtbag, you go ahead and type something like this!

Fair point for sure.

People get hurt at work every day.  People die on the job every day.  Injuries are not at all unique to football.  Football probably has a higher percentage of it's workforce get injured than many others but they're not alone at all.  I have never seen a construction project stopped because a worker was hurt or even killed on the job.  Moreover, there are 1000s of jobs where repeated activities, chemical exposure and other conditions create occupational diseases that have long term consequences.

I get what you're saying, but I don't really think it's an apples to apples comparison. And I'll say it because it's the elephant in the room whenever someone wants to compare major sports to an every day routine job: There is too much spotlight on the NFL from media, legal, advertisers, money, perception, and other factors that won't allow them to tell the players and coaches, "Hey, I know one of your players is in a life or death situation right now directly caused from playing the game, but suck it up and play on."

Tee Higgins may have inadvertently killed someone last night, so it's a little harsh to expect him to act like nothing happened and be in the right frame of mind.

Hate coming to the defense of Skip but here we are.  These 2 tweets were before the one he is getting chastised for.

People scare me sometimes.

His arm length is reported to be 32".  If that is verified at The Combine it's highly unlikely he'll ever be an NFL OT.

Yup - I'd like see how athletic he is... if just above average, I wouldn't pay the premium (1B pick) for a polished G as that might only help you in Year 1.

This is fair. He'll have to test in the 80% percentile for it to be worth it in the top 14 IMO.

Wonder if Eagles could trade down for him.

That's my point...he has a shorter leash with many people (which he earned/deserves imo).

Dan Patrick starter his show about how devastating the situation is and was talking about "what's next" before his first commercial.  Same thing - but different level of respect from listeners

Makes sense.  Play the 18th schedule and see if this game has any bearing on anything.  If not cancel it.  Bengals beat the Ravens and they are AFC Central Champs.  Should the Chiefs lose, the Bills are the number 1 seed.  If the Chiefs and Bills win, then consider other criteria. Is it worth changing the schedule or playing the game for a percentage chance of a change of seeding?

My bad, I missed the word "down" in your post.

I read it as "Wonder if Eagles could trade for him."

Im not speaking to the gameplan at all at this point, we seem to be comparing RBs now and absolutely yes he is average and Id definitely take those other guys over him.  Not sure how much more clean I can be.   All of those guys were much more consistent, powerful runners that were more effective to me.

Mathews, Ajayi, and Howard all got dinged up qnd had shortened careers.  But at the height of all of their abilities, Sanders is the worst of all of the bunch.

Mike, I’ve read this interchange without any dog in the fight.  So I looked up the historical Eagles rushing leaders at https://www.footballdb.com/teams/nfl/philadelphia-eagles/leaders/yearly-rushing-yards and those stats do not appear to support the points you have been making.  What they do support is Sanders being consistently with an above average YPC compared to the other Eagles rushing leaders.  His workload doesn’t appear to be overly high either.  McCoy and Westbrook and Staley and Watters all had larger workloads.

Cam Smith is another CB that'd I'd keep an eye on in the 1st round.

Big dude with a ball hawkers mentality

Very sorry I'm late to the party here.  I only occasionally checked my phone and haven't been on my work computer since December 19.  Unless @eagle45 is interested in gruesome horror and found footage gems, I don't know how much help I can be here!  Not sure you you've heard of it, but Breaking Bad is the best show in the last 30 years.  Reminds me a lot of Breaking Bad!

Peter King was saying on the Herd today that a high ranking person in the league didn't think it was a big deal if teams played less games than others during Covid. Probably will be the case here as well.
