Oh man, so F'ing good. And these are some of the same producers/creators (Mazin at least, not sure on any others), so that's a big part of the reason why I'm so stoked for this show.

I still really liked the second game, even if I kinda wish things would've unfolded a bit differently. One of the best cut scenes of both games came in the second one in the record store in Boston. You can easily miss it if you don't explore all the buildings but I was blown away by the emotion from Ashley Johnson in her dialogue. You gotta be super talented to convey that pain almost exclusively through your voice in a limited medium like a video game. I know the mo-cap stuff helps a lot these days, but it's her voice acting that really lands those lands with so much weight.

Once they decided to do "that thing" in season 2, I thought while the game still played great, the story kind of went off the rails. It turned into a revenge plot, instead of a plot about a growing bond between two characters and the lengths someone will go to protect the ones we love. Ellie became an annoying bloodthirsty psycho. The most heartening moments were definitely the flashbacks. Going to the museum and reminiscing were really cool parts.

Druckman was obsessed with forcing Abby into the story, at the expense of everything else.

I nominate Jason Momoa should play her in season 2. Need someone to match her physique.

There aren't very many TV series I can say I've watched from beginning to end; at some point they stagnate and I quit watching.

Didn't realize she's that old, definitely never sounded like it. But her talent was off the charts. Troy Baker too. Video games can get a bad rep but both of those games were gut punches and had me on the edge of my seat almost the entire time.

I don't know, you sound worried. You keep bringing up Rueben Randle and Nick Foles, which is a loooonnngggg time to have to go back to brag about a "win." Kind of like the old guy at the bar talking about how good he was at high school football trying to impress the waitress.

It's kind of sad, really. Also, your TV show list is kind of dated as well. Maybe netflix and chill?

Might want to watch how much detail we go into to avoid spoilers... But that's what the entire first game was about though. Not sure if going back to that same well would've come across as too formulaic. I agree with you that the timing of it was not exactly my preference but I still think it worked in its own way. 

Oh, and Abby absolutely sucked. Put me down for not being able to empathize with her at all given how she was written into the plot. But I think that might've been what they were going for. Have this vile character and humanize her just barely enough to cause moral conflict for the protagonist we actually do care about. Either way though, I loved the game as a whole, and would definitely watch season 2 or whatever season would follow the second game, should they decide to make it.

Crazy that people still put their noses up toward the gaming industry when I believe it has vastly outgrown movies in revenue pull within the entertainment sector.

Many games are skin deep in story and content, but TLoU, Witcher and RDR2 really show heart.

He's in it a decent bit, but it's him and 2 other guys depending. They apparently all get mannerisms from each other, so it's pretty cool regardless.

Well, if the guy has you on ignore as soon as something doesn't go his way, hard to have anything new to compete about.

 

 

And in regards to my list, it is shows I have watched from start to finish more than once.  I watch tons of new shows, have not found one worth a second watch, but I will watch The Mandalorian a second time before the new season.  And there is nothing new that can hold a candle to The Sopranos, Justified, The Wire and Oz.
