You I specifically remember going back and forth with about Jalen. You were convinced that he could never be an accurate winning QB. There was a lot of conviction. The whole time I was wondering if I was the one that was crazy because he screamed exactly that — that he could be an accurate winning QB.

I do wonder why folks had such a tough time buying in.

After the bucs playoff loss I was all out on hurts I was convinced he could never become a legit pro QB and that every defense would just do what bucs had and he wouldn't have any answers.

Sure swapping reagor out for brown helped immensely but hurts showed me from game one this season that there was hope he could develop and wow did he sure show me.

So glad I was wrong about hurts.

We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

It was reported he was helping the offense to self scout for the 2 weeks leading up to the SB

I didn't know of any reports that he was hired to consult during the regular season

Probably should’ve had him help Gannon out too.

Jalen is objectively an accurate QB. Look at his expected completion percentage.

The 2 most fair criticisms of Jalen
- Lack of arm strength
- Doesn't use the middle of the field enough

This year his accuracy has massively increased so I'm not sure how someone could say he isn't. Ultimately I agree with the 2 most fair criticisms. And the middle of the field thing is still a fair one I think.

If Jerod Meyo is actually available, we should give him whatever he wants.

Confirmation bias on both sides. Seeing what you want to see.

i dont see how you can say he is an accurate qb

Are you serious?  Has was extremely accurate all year.  Not last year, no, but this year he was nearly as good as anyone at throwing accurate passes, particularly deep.

He lacks arm strength so can't throw the deep bomb and doesn't zing it 25yrds on a line.  That's the weakness.

So if we promote Brian Johnson and Dennard Wilson to OC and DC and they eventually get hired as HCs, we would get two 3rd round picks for two consecutive years.

Is that how that goes?

I like this list a lot. Only major corrections I’d make are Aaron Rodgers is still too low, he had a strong season with what he had to work with, and Lawrence was dinking and dunking a lot to succeed in 2022. I didn’t see a clear path to him blowing up in 2023, he reminded me of Wentz in 2019 for Pederson. He’ll be better for sure, but there’s a gap between what he did and what Hurts/Herbert are expected to do in 2023.

Dont mind Herbert over Allen, Maybe move Rodgers up to 5th, Lawrence to 7th, otherwise looks pretty good.

Idk about that. With how jalen played in that SB are to have him sitting at 7. If we are being honest he’s likely higher than josh Allen and herbert with what we’ve seen recently. If we are talking about after this very season and where they should be heading into 2023 I’d probably have it ranked this way

1. mahomes

2. burrow (his offensive line really holds that team back)

3. Hurts

4. allen

5. lawrence (i thought early no way but he was balling second half of year and really if Agnew doesn’t fumble that ball KC was in a ton of danger)

6. Herbert

7. Rodgers

8. Lamar (when healthy but seemingly that seems less and less)

9. Dak

10. Goff (however his home and road splits are really night and day)

Did the Cardinals see how well his defense performed on their home turf?

Wonder if we do end up hiring within

Yes.

1 for Johnson and 1 for Wilson in 2024.

Same for 2025, assuming both get HC jobs next cycle.

The middle of the field struggles got better with AJ but I think it’s mostly a result of a very simple passing game built off of the RPO. Perhaps the issue is that the coaching staff doesn’t believe Jalen can run a more complex passing scheme.

You guys are ranking Lawrence way too high.

Allen has the insane arm and can run but he takes too many risks and will likely end up injured a lot if he doesn't work on that

The playcalling and injuries were holding Herbert back

I think Rodgers still has it but Packers are not built for the playoffs

Honestly think Lamar ends up on a decline

In terms of scheme, I would like the offense to address the blitz with hot routes, etc. and incorporate the RBs via check downs.  Both of these are common solutions to keeping your QB from getting hit...

Would be a bit different, he's a heavy cover 2 guy isn't he?

He's got a lot of experience though.

Burrow and Mahomes are ahead of Hurts and Allen is debatable.  I'd put Hurts in 3rd.

We are getting 2 3rd round comp picks for losing both coordinators?

No, not minority candidates

The guy I've always compared hurts to is Steve young

Young wasn't a great passer in college or early in his career, he had a bigger arm than hurts but he was more an athlete than he was a QB.

When retiring he had the highest career QB rating, and was considered one of the most accurate qbs of his generation.

Not sure hurts will ever reach those heights but he's shown the ability to improve and get better and I think going forward he'll just continue to do so.

1. Mahomes

[huge gap]

2. Burrow

3. Hurts

4. Herbert

5. Lamar

6. Allen

7. Lawrence

Honorary members -- Rodgers and Stafford

Next tier is the Goff, Prescott, Cousins, Tua group

I've never gotten the love affair with Allen. He throws crippling picks. He's boom or bust to me.
