EMB Blog: 2023 Camps and Preseason - NO POLITICS

Featured Replies

So who are the no pad all-stars so far?  😆

I don't take camp seriously until a couple weeks in, when they're played in pads a few practices and have an exhibition game under their belts.

Really, all you can tell right now is which rookies studied the playbook over the summer. And who worked out.

They're installing a new defense, going against an offense where most players are in their 2nd or 3rd seasons in the same system - Johnson may make some tweaks, but he's unlikely to make major changes. So I expect the offense to be ahead until about the midpoint of TC, when the defenders get comfortable.

Do we need to have a discussion about whether Andy Dalton is an elite QB?

If we grade on a ginger curve, yes.

Interesting...

Who is the greatest ginger QB of all time?   The "GGOAT" if you will.

What a way for a Hall of Fame career to come to an end.

Damn, Jalen turned down being on that Netflix QB show this season.

Good. nothing positive comes from him being on there. Same with Hard knocks.

We get to watch other teams/players as fans, while our guys are relaxing, not giving up secrets and whatever else

Yeah as proven by Mahomes winning MVP amd the Super Bowl when he was on it.

This is Greg Cosell heaping more praise on Reagor than Jefferson. He's just another big mouth.

Cosell "Can't Stop" being wrong about prospects.

Jefferson is a 'slot guy' 🤡

He was also down on Lamb and very high on Jeudy.

Ringo will be bad, good, awesome, or something else.

None of it will be because Greg Cosell knows anything because he doesn't. He's a dollar store Mike Mayock.

Jeff Garcia

Ringo’s weakness is definitely his stiffness. I think he’s going to struggle against quick twitch WRs mightily. But he has great horizontal speed, will be good staying with guys vertically.

Im not a huge Ringo fan but I don’t hate the pick because in the 4th he’s worth taking a chance on based on his pedigree. He was productive, in a great defense, was a big time recruit. And stiff CBs have been successful in the NFL. Richard Sherman was never a quick twitch guy.

The fact all players passed the conditioning test and only PUP/NFI is Allen, albeit Reddick with groin soreness didn’t practice and Barnett and Maddox were limited.

Sounds and looks like Davis is trimmer. Mailata looks a bit trimmer too.  Johnson fully recovered.

Sloppy made its usual appearance early.

Cosell knows more than all of us. Everyone gets stuff wrong. Even the smartest football minds ever.

Apparently Nolan Smith showed out.

Got some first team reps as well going in for BG.

Not sure how much he's going to play or where but without pads reportedly he's giving the coaches something to think about.

@hputenis Would say that stiffness is most men's greatest strength

Interesting. Greg Cosell said very bluntly that Ringo "can't stop" and that was why he dropped to the fourth round. He said he can't cover hooks and comebacks and that guys can run by him. https://www.insidethebirds.com/philadelphia-eagles-intel-with-cosell-nfl-draft/

Interesting to know where Ringo lined up today. If it was at outside corner, then it's clear they think he possibly has a future there. If he played some safety, I would think they might want him to get on the field this year.

Listening to a podcast from a couple of days ago and Roob had Keane making the roster over Stoll. Incredible.

There have been some TE takes this year. Gowton has Dan Arnold making the team over Calcaterra.

ESP said Tyree Jackson is one of the 5 most talented TEs in the NFL.

As an aside, I don't know if Dean will make a big splash at camp, but he was so Fing good in college, I still think despite his size it would be an upset if he wasn't good in the NFL. He was a flat out superstar in college. He did everything well.
