Because his height makes natural leverage battles underneath defenders structurally difficult, Bell has developed a specific set of adaptations to compensate. Rather than committing to two-handed punches, he strikes first with his outside hand and keeps his inside hand in reserve. This enables him to protect his inside shoulder, avoiding vulnerability to various moves.

Pretty much every TE in this class was going to take time to develop very few are asked to be inline blocking guys anymore. But the Eagles have been brining along TEs now for a while Celek to Ertz. Ertz to Geodart. Now Geodart to Stowers.

The real question was if Stowers was willing to be a blocker and early on sounds like yea that something he wants to add to his game

I remember you mentioning Stowers... how is he now " Ham's boy" ?

The man didn’t let up a single sack in last season if he is that flawed that doesn’t happen. The kid is only 21 no real need to make any assumptions about him yet. He gets to sit and learn behind two of the best OT in the league for at least a season. Likely will get some playing time filling in. If he can become a good swing T for us king Dunlap, Big V type guy I’d count this as a win. Obviously best case scenario is he is the next great T for us but also not the end of the world if he isn’t either.

💯... plus how is he too tall but Mailata isn't? Is there an exact # where it's too tall to play OT?

Just sounds really dumb to post that... but you know that everyone who is a " wannabee" has to put something out there trying to make them an expert.... " BGN" what qualifies anyone at BGN to be an expert ??? They report because they follow the team, the league and college prospects...none of that qualifies them to be any expert on developing talent or what the new Eagles offensive coaching staff's tendencies and plans are to develop this kid Bell.

Just dumb to make a blanket statement that the kid won't learn new techniques. He is too tall to learn a different " punch " ? A guy competitive enough to give up ZERO sacks for Miami last year in 1000 plus snaps? Really?

What’s the point of instantly hating a pick this is going to be Jordan Davis all over again…. Hated Davis from day 1 and keep trying to downplay him every chance you get because you hated us drafting him.

Mind you Jordan Davis easily the best DL on the team last year wasn’t even really close

The whole board sees right through Ham's agenda.

The player himself acknowledges his flaws

That he is too tall? But Mailata isn't? The one inch matters that much?

Plus isn't acknowledging the first step to " fixing " anything?

3 hours ago, cunninghamtheman said:

Yes wasn’t a fan of drafting Davis so high. But I haven’t just been nothing but against him. I’ve pointed out how good I believe he is as an influence on Carter. I happy Jordan Davis just finally gave enough a crap about his job he started working out. Hooray. Seems like some of my concerns and thoughts proved justified that he just wasn’t doing it before though.

This whole post was stupid looking at 2025. Carter was a disaster mentally... from moment one getting ejected before taking a snap... and Davis play all season winning both defensive player of the week and special teams player of the week. Carter's play went backwards.

Just a complete horrible take on your part.

Similar to " the key being Gibbs catching the ball out of the backfield " he ended up with over 100 receiving yards and Detroit couldn't put up 10 points.... just awful take.

I give my two cents on most everything Eagles. Feel it was a positionally forced bad draft pick.

Agree with the position aspect. Still, to go as far as saying he can't fix any flaws??? Really? You don't have to dig that deep. Simply the idea they could have taken another player there is enough.

I’ve stated Stowers is willing blocker. That’s important. But we’ve been more reliant on blocking TE than most others. We’ve had so many snaps with a blocking WR or second blocking TE. That’s with Goedert being an excellent blocker. It really hurt us having Calc out there instead.

Thought it was a new offense?

Wasn’t mad he got an extension at all, false. I made the case Davis was worth more based on being a positive influence around Carter in fact. Stating I’d overpay him what he’s worth purely production wise on the field. But definitely feel the extension given was too much.

Just asinine take looking at Carter ...and you keep digging....perfect example of you and the shovel.

Then why do you assume Bell's learning stops after college? Uar is "your guy" I thought Stowers was. Shipley was also your guy and he hasn't done a thing. everyone we pick was "your guy" now? If you are bashing Bell because he has things to learn them bash Bernard the same way. It's called being consistent, just as you can't find any fault with Hurts but will bash any other QB for doing the same things. it's comical and we all enjoy the entertainment, thanks

Some don't enjoy the entertainment

I singled him out as the obvious TE pick for us in the second round. Go back through the conversation and you’ll see this.

Bell is plenty self aware…which is obviously a positive. He’s coachable…came up with a whole workaround because he can’t do it. But…he can’t do it! That work around I don’t see translating to the pros.

Mailata signed thru 2028, he will be 31 then. Say he's plying well and we extend him through 2030. That gives Bernard 4 years to learn the game, improve to the point he can take over for Mailata, taking some garbage tome snaps whenever he is ready for the experience. Sounds like a plan. What if Bell can take over for Dickerson at LG? May not fix the lane issue but that's a solid left side for the new passing QB's blind side. With 2 round 1's next year we can take the top OT if we so choose. Goolsby sounds like a guy we can use. Don't even have to move to 1. He has played both left and right T. Let Lane start the year with that kid taking over when he's ready. Now you have your 4 horseman for the future in place

I mentioned Stowers well before you buddy you can go back even further and see this

That would mean ham has to read others posts and acknowledge them.

Stowers was my early on favorite TE in the draft lot to like about him former QB smart player freak athlete probably the best in the class even better then Sadiq. Obviously raw fairly new to the position only 3 years as a FT TE think he split reps in his first two seasons of college between QB/TE. Has to improve as a blocker.

Probably also because I had Sam Roush on my board at TE as well since he was the complete opposite of Stowers being the more traditional inline TE similar to Geodart and Kraft(GB). Seen him as a real possibility as well for us.

Knew it was going to come down to what the teams preference was in a new TE

"Defensive line coach Clint Hurtt, who traveled to Fort Myers, Florida to personally work out the 21-year old Abuja, Nigeria native prior to the NFL Draft, is celebrated as one of the best in the business at developing young talent" This is where I moved from and I can tell you there may be more Eagles fans there than in Philly LOL. There were more than 2 bars DEDICATED to the birds. Used to love going there on gamedays. Here there is nothing

This kid is going to have some temp adjustments to make. FL was probably close to the heat in Nigeria. He will now have to learn to deal with the cold. It's probably chilly for him right now LOL. Maybe a parka under his uni(size 9x HAHAHA)

Right now. He's never played football EVER, so who knows where he ends up. Could play O or D. We need to see what he's good at
