May 11May 11 Author 2 hours ago, cunninghamtheman said:Yep…Hurts going to grab an absolute monster new contract next offseasonWe'll see, but not so fast. If he fails at this new offense I don't see how. it's his ball to drop. If he is not going to run(which is why he was paid to start with) no coach wants 1/2 a player. He has to show NFL caliber passing skills as well as understanding a more complex offense(which once again he failed to do with Moore) as well as executing that complex offense. Very possible with all the talent around him. It's not that difficult, but 19/32 isn't going to cut it for a "monster" contract. And BTW why would Howie want to shell out for a "monster contract" when he has already shown he has NP moving on with a CHEAPER player???? Hurts has so many tools and always has, he has no clue what it's like to struggle and if he does, he's not going to be around. AJ going away puts even more pressure on Hurts as we can use 2 round 1's to select any top QB we want in the '27 draft, so stop waving the pom poms. Hurts performance last year was horrible for what he is paid, now he has to pony up. So far reports are good that he and Mannion are working well together, but that needs to translate to the field. No one hates Hurts but your eyes have been closed for a long time. If Hurts was still on his rookie deal, after last years 19/32 ranking, if you were Howie, why on earth would you pay him a monster contract? He staying this year and AJ is going because Hurts cap hit would hurt more, not because he is some prolific passing machine.
May 11May 11 Author 2 hours ago, cunninghamtheman said:2 hours ago, cunninghamtheman said:Both of those were the result of a DOMINATING O line. The tush pushes took their toll and many on the O line were playing hurt last year. If you noticed(or not) the tush push all but vanished. WHY? Because the O line could not perform as they did in '24 and they should not have to . Not hard to see. If the QB cannot get 10 yards in 3 downs he's not your guy. Couple a weaker O line with a QB who was paid to RUN then decided he wasn't going to, and that's a recipe for failure, then add in friction with your #1 WR. Now the friction will be gone and Hurts has to show he is worth what he is paid. if he is not top 10 I'm not paying him like he is. We are, however, stuck with him this year due to Hurts massive cap hit(losing AJ was the lesser of 2 evils here) and this is Hurts "contract year". 19/32 and Howie won't hesitate to make the change. Time for the piper, who has already been pre-paid, to play some tunes

At that time he probably develops into the swing tackle or back up to Mailata by year 3. By then they bring in someone else to be the RT ....and you will talk for 50 posts on how you were correct. The usual agenda and spin....meanwhile the rest of us who have said that he isn't here to be RT ... will actually be proven correct....and you will somehow try to spin it.

I don't even think he may play any RT at all. I don't think he needs to play RT to justify the pick. A team needs a backup LT. Without one could be disaster. They drafted a couple guys last year... drafting Bell should upgrade the level of competition within the room. To me a 3rd round pick doesn't necessarily have to start. The roster puzzle still needs quality depth. Needs rookie contracts. If Bell can hold a spot for 4 years then great. Would love for him not to play due to Mailata not missing a game.

May 11May 11 Author 11 minutes ago, cunninghamtheman said:How about? NOOOOOO"His first season in Coral Gables started as a rotational role before opportunity knocked. Bell appeared in 12 games and made five starts at left tackle during Miami's 2024 campaign, filling in when Jalen Rivers dealt with injury and eventually rotating in as the coaching staff looked to develop him for the future. That offense finished No. 1 nationally in both points per game (43.9) and yards per game (537.2), and the offensive line earned a spot on the Joe Moore Award Honor Roll. Bell contributed to multiple 500-plus-yard performances, including a 750-yard explosion against Ball State. Entering 2025 as the full-time starting left tackle, Bell took a significant leap. Over 1,034 offensive snaps as the unquestioned starter, he allowed zero sacks and just one quarterback hit while posting an 83.5 pass blocking grade, a massive jump from the 63.6 he recorded as a part-time player in 2024. His season culminated in a national championship game appearance, a Senior Bowl invitation, and recognition as one of the fastest-rising offensive line prospects in the 2026 draft class." SOOOO let's see, he started out with zero stars and worked his way up to a 4 star recruit who showed major upward steps taken in his development. You think he's done developing? Even hear of a thing called ceiling? Just ridiculous to write off a prospect who has shown time and again he is CONTINUING to get better. Be my guest and write him off. As Joe said even if his progress stops as a viable swing tackle why is that terrible??? IDK where he ends up, but he's far from having a big L(loser) by his name. He is an Eagle and as a fan you should be behind EVERY PLAYER. Jebus the kid barely got unpacked. Just ridiculous. Let the kid grow and work

May 11May 11 What would make anybody believe he could play RT? He’s going to learn a completely opposite work-around for RT? If it was even possible. Doesn’t matter because that work around won’t translate to working in the NFL.

Because that half inch more than Mailata just makes him too tall?Or...but Mailata is a freak athlete....which what, technique either doesn't matter or it's his Athletic ability as to why he can fix technique?A 21 year old kid with the size and the right attitude you feel can't fix his technique? The guy who played vs the best level of college players? A guy who gets to watch Lane and Mailata in practice every day...for months? Really?
