Wow...that's a lot of disrespect to both a guy in Stout who many feel is the best position coach in the league...and Kelce an Eagles legend.

Not to mention a guy who would be a 3 year established starter.. pro bowl alternate then pro bowl... possibly 2 time pro bowl?

Wow... not sure that's how you build a winning culture.   But hey, that's your method, to each their own.

It’s just business. Is it possible we could get Stout to maybe do it again? He hasn’t lost all his magic has he? Heck I bet Kelce has even more free time to scout out the next C for us if we tasked him with such. I was very high on Creed Humphrey on that draft. Could we actually even find a better option than Cam? How far will the drop off be without Cam?

Milton’s 26 on the open market with bidding wars …isn’t even going to look like that much when next offseason Jalen Carter signs for 44 mil per.

Must be nice on your planet

TE and C are similar in being areas I’d call a strength in our drafting. If I had to pick just the top two positions we rely on to nail in the draft for our success? Which two would you feel at ease with more?

I would pay the established pro bowl center...currently age 25 and entering the last year if his rookie contract the value it takes to resign him.   No issue with the extension locking him up long term, knowing that the contract will have low cap hits the next few years and the ability to restructure in year 3 or soon after.

Knowing that we are showing $120 mil of cap space in 2027, would be $148 mil if Goedert and Huff are traded.   And that's without any extra cap increase.

I think it's easily set up to where Cam is in line to be locked in.

Is it just business?   If you were thinking business,  you would understand that the good business is locking up the pro bowl line that you have set up.

44 mil to Carter ...whose position has $31 mil as its highest is good business?

Because you have this obsession for terms..  " Ham terms" ..  one of them in this case =  " highest paid non QB"

The rest of us call it WR or DE.  Because those positions have the leverage to get paid that amount... not DT.

When using the franchise tag...." highest paid Non QB" isn't a position where it sets the tag price.  The tag price gives the player and team leverage one way or the other.

In Cam's case...that's why $8.5 mil per doesn't work for his side... .also why $44 mil doesn't work for the Eagles side when it comes to Carter.

Or... you lock in a player that plays a relatively inexpensive position and then focus on developing that RG in which we will be playing musical chairs the next few years.

Texans CB  Stingley 3 year 90 mil

Stingley, 23, was eligible for the fifth-year option this offseason that would've tied him to the organization through the 2026 season, but the Texans have seemingly brushed that aside with this lucrative extension.

Where interior pass rush is valued? I don’t know…has felt like it’s become much more main stream over the last decade.

Avoided the question. If our team had to pick two positions in the draft…what are two positions you’d feel more confident in our draft process about?

Jalen Carter will sign an Aaron Donald-esque ground breaking contract….you should know this.

You lay out all the scenarios and put together the complete championship organization…best way possible.

Cam isn’t some irreplaceable player. He’s above average. So most likely pay him…at a cheaper price..at a cheaper position…for more than just being above average even. He can get the open market bidding value of 10 mil his teammate just struck out there. The G…well pay the C. Seems fair and generous to me.

Feel free to after that add in FA and trade options

The position is labeled " interior DL"   you want that top paid spot to jump from 31 to 44 million?

Franchise tag wise…Cam would just be considered Oline. So he should make more than the old money…why not cough up more than we paid Dickerson? Heck he could make stink about put me back at G…if it meant the so many millions of difference…like it does.

I’m at 40…but not sure should even stop there by next offseason where things get.

I know we aren't into mocks, but I really like this one. Even the young guys have upside and snagging the OC for OSU(national champs) you could do worse. Let him compete for the RG spot as well as a BU to Cam, Howie seems to prefer OC's made into OG's so that fits his personna. And as ham said bring in a vet S just to gel that part out

Cam would be center

Center is the least expensive position on the OL.. so that's why it makes sense to lock a good on down long term.

Wow ... why not make it 60?

You definitely have a talent for the extreme and a vivid imagination.  I'll bet you have some great conspiracy theories.

Correct... you lock down 25 year old pro bowl players at inexpensive positions so you can concentrate on drafting the more expensive positions where the ability to win increases due to not having to spend on the expensive positions.

Agree.... he will pass Jones.  You will puff your chest out at the extension number, and not understand that it will be done in a way that absorbs the final year(s) of the rookie deal.  6 years $180 total.... which includes your chest puffing numbers of 4 years 160 mil extension... takes him through 2031.  Your idea that he is Aaron Donald and will be seen that way is ridiculous.

Donald had 29 sacks in his first 4 years and 20.5 in year 5.

Carter has 10.5 sacks in 2 years... just had 4.5 this year.  That's not a trend that leads to $44 mil per year.... or any " groundbreaking deal"  He should get the new top of the market rate, not so much crush Jones # to the point where you are looking at "  highest paid non QB"  the fictional position that doesn't exist.

in 2011 the Eagles drafted Jason Kelce... in 2022 we drafted Cam Jurgens.    IDK that it's a history of great drafting of C?    We thought the same thing at CB years ago, but that was due to having years of a few CBs... Vincent, Taylor, Lito and Brown... then all of a sudden what happened?

Are you that confident at drafting C due to two guys?      Or does it make sense to lock in the 2nd guy, so that you can go 2 decades of having pro bowl level centers at relatively inexpensive levels?

Why create a hole for no reason?   You have plenty of money and it's all set up nicely to lock him up.  A $5.3 mil salary allows a signing bonus to actually lower the cap hit this year.  The signing bonus keeps the cap hit low for 2026... from there if you needed to, you could redo the deal in 2027 if needed.  2027 you have plenty of cap space and a bunch of your core already locked up... Q and DeJean would still be on rookie deals ... Carter and Smith would be extended to where their cap hits would be low.

You set your team up in a great position long term.  Without emotion, strictly business... you can see why it's the obvious move.  You don't give cheap long term deals.  Becton took less because it was a 2 year deal.   This way he can make more later.   Becton was not pro bowl.   You can't compare Becton and Cam when it comes to contract.  Becton is a rent a player... Cam you could rent him, but you can't buy him at the renter's price!

I mean... a 3rd year player... that just played his first year at the position he was drafted... and made pro bowl.    you think he is anywhere near his peak level.  You can't see improvement upon what is already pro bowl level?    That's just odd to think that way.   Unless there is an agenda... which usually involves emotion.... and emotion and agenda are two things that don't work when running a business.

Dickerson was a C,made into a LG. Howie really loves doing this because C's get overlooked for those with the "OG" moniker. It's a great strategy because he can get a nice G on the cheap drafting them late because they are C's. like my mock, the C from OSU could be a fine RG for us while also learning the ropes at C should he need to slide over in the event of injury

Again, I don't look at what happened with Dickerson as any trend.  Howie loves to do this or that.   I think they liked Dickerson and drafted him.  That's it.

The beauty of the last 4 years of drafting... it's all over the place.  No trends.  Different positions, trading up and down.  Big school and small school.  don't look so much for trend that makes it predictable ... look for players that you think we would want.

This is a good change from years past where we could easily see trends weighing at positions etc.
