The transfer portal is being used alot now for kids to jockey for position

Sadly it is

IMHO these kids should be able to use the portal once and then after that they should have to sit out a year

Just got home from watching the Minnesota Nice def the Philly roller derby A team. It was a good match but Minnesota pulled away and was to much for Philly.

I see some of you think this draft sucked but I actually think we had a good draft. We filled the needs we had and got depth in areas we were thin at before. Not to mention our last two draft picks that could be steals if they hit potential.

And... we added a 5th rounder from ATL next year.

Not huge, but always a plus coming out of the draft with more future picks than either staying the same or even having used some to get players in the current draft

12 picks

Our 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7

3rd from Jets

3rd comp pick from Milton

4th comp pick from Sweat

5th from Houston

5th from ATL

5th comp pick Becton

Not bad. Trade assets for players this year. Assets to move up next year. Assets to trade for future picks.

A very young team other than RT and TE. Both of those guys seem like they have plenty left in the tank too.

So how about picks 32, 64, 65, 96, 98... to start the draft next year! Let's go!!!!

So, Howie had a plan early on, that explains the reach for the S. he was planning on pulling out of round 3 because No one tripped his trigger, but he liked the S, so he took him in 2

Hard to tell a young person "sorry you can't better yourself without a penalty" so I see both sides of this. Alot of kids can't afford big school tuition. That doesn't make them bad but it sure takes them out of the top rung competition. If they get a chance to excel or be on par with the "rich kids", then why not let them. Everyones situation is different and if they get a shot at a year or 2 free schooling, they should have it. Not every lawyer can afford to go to Harvard

???? The portal allows the students to transfer schools without having to sit a year. Some kids are switching schools every year.

But it doesn't change their scholarship.

I agree with ASG... one time using the portal for free....next time they should have to sit out a year. Switching every year doesn't do any good for any party involved. The game, the schools or the players development.

So a poor kid who can't afford tuition to the big schools should be punished for wanting to move up the chain? If he is at a small school and gets a scholarship to a medium one and does well there, then gets scholarship to a big school he should be punished for excelling at each level?

Our UDFA's so far. With our draft we get 10

Hunh? These are kids on football scholarships that can go to any school to play. Has nothing to do with scholarships or going to school.

JT Daniels... USC, Georgia, West Virginia and Rice.... he needed to transfer 3 times....for academic reasons?

It’s the same every year during the draft lol we always do terrible because this player wasn’t on the mock or this expert board had the player rated lower etc.

I just thought we had a good draft and people freaking out about this and that. The only thing we didn't address was TE & WR but we already have stars at all 3 starting positions still smh.

I thought the draft was fine but i also don’t stress the names I like to take the 2-3 years approach before I judge a draft.

I thought we fill some areas of concern now it’s just can we develop the guys we drafted

Do I think we had the best draft no. Matter of fact I like Dallas draft better than ours.

We improved the team imo. 2 probable starters, rotational depth at DT, depth in weak areas LB, CB, and OL, and some developmental prospects that could be studs.

To begin with…this draft class wasn’t good. So how good of a draft could even have been possible?

This has been a tough offseason suffering such losses without any gains. Patience is wearing thin. Real soon we should be capable of adding FA without it taking away from our comp picks(like Ojulari did).

So let’s be clear about our team and current circumstances. We are WorldChamps! Looking to repeat. We lost the most quality players of any team….not even by a small margin. In doing so it meant we couldn’t add FAs as it would spoil our Comp pick gains in return. We lost our O mind that clearly made such a huge difference in every way about that whole side of the ball.

So in this setting of an All In/Win Know contending team….we lost a whole lot. How does anybody think this draft is going to really help our mission to bring home another parade…in these next two seasons?

I’m not looking to be all doom and gloom or anything. We still have a heck of a team. But the reality has to be : it’s been rough offseason concerning the goal of repeating.

I’m not as critical actually of teams and seasons that just don’t have a real potential and expectation. As you’ve all probably noticed I get the most hypercritical and nitpicking the closer I feel our team is.

2019,2020 and 2021 teams were never going anywhere as far as legit contenders. 19 and 20 just frustrating with how downhill everything was completely sliding. 2021 we had no cap room. We had a rookie HC in over his head. Not a very talented team. Young first time starting QB. Season started out like trash. Simply put: team was at the point of total garbage. 2-5 coming off a 4 win season. Expectations of contending? Didn’t exist. That team I really enjoyed to just root for to succeed at that point. Good group of young players easy to cheer on. I wasn’t feeling any needs to nitpick that rock bottom situation for our Eagles. Simply a situation that we witnessed a core of such strong character competitors rise and overcome. Just get hot…go on a run. That team Hot? That’s what they needed to beat the lower teams in the league even. Highest expectation possible was a true underdog story of a crap team that overcame it all to just make the playoffs.

Just trying to explain what seems to be a different mentality shared between myself and most. A terrible P we keep around, while injured even situation…on a team completely setup to win it all? Carrying a useless fourth RB on the 53…on that team perfectly setup to win it all? Those are exactly what really bothers me. The details that could make the difference in reaching the ultimate goal. Everybody else was all so hypercritical about the 2021 team. Understanding their obvious limitations with a bad hand…I witnessed the rise of hope and our future.
