If you are truly committed to rebuilding, that was a very, very, very bad decision. I knew that when they were contemplating it, I knew that when they did it and I know that now. I had the pleasure of listening to Northern California sports radio talk about Purdy Purdy Purdy Purdy, and all I could do was smile

You don't hit on every pick...but I prefer them to miss because of the player not working out...not because of panicked picks or position priorities.

Selecting Jordan Davis may fit into that category however I do believe that he is going to work out given time.

I like how they snag DITRS, get them up to speed, then use them as trade bait especially QB's. Our team also resurrects careers that have gotten off to bad starts, some we use as BU's , some as trade bait. If McCord takes off no reason we can't trade my boy McKee away. Howie always 1 step ahead of everyone. Becton is a good example,he started LOL

DITRs?

Chip was a really poor choice, but Lurie likes to give people shots. He did it with Ped and Siri also. And now Patullo

I'm talking about how they got out of the situation. Too many coincidences to think Lurie didn't know what he was doing.

Coincidences that they got out of the big contracts of the MeSeans and Chip was the bad guy?

Coincidences that they were able to get out of Maxwell and Murray deals after 1 year without much dead cap? That wasn't Chip writing those deals.

I have to be honest. I don't think it's coincidence that the run defense has been good with Davis. The end of 2023 being the exception....but I also believe that they ran out of gas after the Buffalo game..where Davis and Carter played like 80 snaps. I don't view Davis by his stats....to me he symbolizes the run defense. With him in the middle it makes them much better and then forces the other team into the pass. Basically his job is to get himself off the field. The less he plays the better he does his job.

Look at how he helped get Milton that ridiculous contract with NE. Without him taking those early down snaps, Milton doesn't stay fresh to make all those 5.5 sacks ..lol

31st ranked pass D before that under woeful neglect by Howie.

Let’s look at that 31st ranked pass D.

There are a lot of factors that went into that, but players probably wasn’t terribly high on the list. Here is the starting lineup for the Wildcard game. Go down the list. All were either proven productive Eagles players or Free Agents who had been proven and productive throughout their careers.

The #1 reason in my opinion was the Gannon tampering by the Cardinals. The #2 reason was Desai’s unreadiness for DC. The #3 reason was replacing Desai with Patricia. I don’t have the D rankings when that happened, but I remember it being in the mid-20s or even lower and under Patricia is cratered until it reached 31.

DeVonta could have played slot if we got either of them. I was trying to complete the triad

Even with that upside it would have been forcing a pick.

You can't figure that out with his obsession with the safety position?

Hamilton? He would have been good … more than good, but the Eagles run defense would have sucked big time.

Davis absolutely was based on all the scouting and analytical assessments available at the time. He has NOT lived up to that potential so far, but that potential was clearly there.

But let’s assume for discussion purposes that Davis wasn’t the BPA at the time the Eagles picked that year. Who do you think was the BPA rather than Davis?

Davis was never BPA. Davis was a positional need pick. Needed that Nose…plain and simple.

Agreed, and I would start by not extending Purdy.

Yeah too much money…but…but….he is so much better than anything they’ve been able to find at QB with all kinds of investment attempts.

And Lurie approved Chip and his demands. Howie is making sure Lurie never has that option again

Yeah…not great. A flaw to be overcome.

With what money?

Exactly what I’m talking about……really clear the cap for rebuilding

Imo... the new regime started in 2016. .the new mentality.

Learn from past mistakes... the learning curve has no statute of limitations... it's nice to see LB drafted 1st, Safety taken 2nd....after two CBs last year.

To me, it seems they have targeted players, not position...and haven't panicked. This is for later rounds as well.

You don't hit on every pick...but I prefer them to miss because of the player not working out...not because of panicked picks or position priorities.

Everyone looks at Reagor over Jefferson... WR mistake.. I look at the possibilities of drafting another position there as well. Did we panic and go for a WR? Or just pick the wrong one?

Who knows? But I think they have targeted players more than positions in the last bunch of drafts...I think it has led to the success.

Jefferson was potentially just a Slot guy. We had two TE on a slow team. It was forcing the speedy outside WR.

Howie drafted the players. Howie signed AJ.

You make a good point every so often and then fall back on the agenda where you have zero facts " just my feeling" ..ironically the " feeling " always fits the agenda.

You made your point for decades... can we stop now. We all know every good thing with the team is either the OC .... or Fangio... every bad thing is Siri or Howie’s fault.

Enough now!

I give credit to Rosie for listening to the football guys about football. Yes…Rosie seems to mess up when he doesn’t. It’s proven out time and time again. All just depends on what you’re talking about. If it’s understanding of the market? Rosie is on it. If it’s a good feel for the entire league’s plans and thinking? Rosie’s on it. Figuring out the accounting? Rosie’s on it. So yes…glad you understand now how Rosie has strengths and weaknesses. Like everybody. His strengths are at such a top level. All you are really saying here is how I’ve noticed and picked up on these for a very long time. So when Rosie steps outside of his strengths believing he’s the football expert..that ties directly into the mistake made.

SF went all in... 4 of 8 years not making the playoffs.... but in 2019 we were tight with the cap. So obviously SF did it the right way being how much ball licking you do for them

Other than I called their whole approach flawed…you’d have a good point. Really so many years back I just liked how they cleared the cap. Seems like an obvious way to go about things to me. Which I mentioned those so many years ago….that you just can’t let go of. Yes I did state Niners were all in and going to the SB last year. So in that light I understood their move to grab Hargrave.

Davis just wasn’t the BPA..flat out was positional pick

But….Davis has a potential ceiling level that’s off the charts.

Enough now indeed…biggest FA signing was all a long thought out Rosie scheme. Fail!

Siri arguing with home fans..Fail!

Yet I also give positive credit for both on greatness.

I comment on every Rosie move. You just can’t stand any criticisms or wrongs he does. I call them like I see them. The way it should be.

Siri I’ve credited in several areas as strengths for him as well. Example: The Brotherly Shove. Rosie built the roster for the play. Yet…never existed until Siri detailed it out so specifically perfecting and mastering it. You aren’t upset with me…you are upset with Siri’s flaws and mistakes.

Oh yeah…Rosie was planning the entire time for Chipper to go down. He always understood that he was ripping apart what was being created.

Players were incredibly high on it happening. He had to feed his ego by showing CGJ. So instead of getting him like he had identified the entire time already….he instead signed Bradberry to even bigger money. Total fail. Bad old CB instead of S that he completely neglected the room.

Now as much as Rosie neglected….he also deserves the tons of credit behind signing undrafted Blankenship. All the positional neglect….but he did find a very good player nobody else was identifying.

Now Rosie screwed up keeping Fangio in house. So that lead to choosing Desai. Actually Desai wasn’t terrible. What was terrible was Rosie arranging Patricia preplanned to takeover. He actually arranged self sabotage…then completing executed it to complete sink the Titanic

Oh…glad you both can figure out who the complete stud BPA actually was…however many years later…when it was so very clear to me that day.
